  1. I didn’t say receiving a red and suspension was “part and parcel of the game”. I said that professional fouls like Eldsons on Saturday are. It’s ridiculous because a foul like that could be committed 35 yards from goal and you’re wanting a penalty given for it. FIFA have brought in the double jeopardy rule re penalties and players only receiving a yellow for a foul they’d probably receive a red for outside the box, but you’re suggesting they do something completely different here and send players off for fouls outside the box and give penalties for fouls that could’ve happened 20 or 30 off yards from goal. That’s why it’s ridiculous. What if it’s one on one with striker and defender at the halfway line on the break from the oppositions corner and all other players are yards behind in or around the box. And if the striker gets past the defender he’s going to be one on one with the keeper pretty quickly - a good goal scoring opportunity. However the defender either chops him or pulls him down a couple of yards into his own half. How is it reasonable for a penalty then to be given in those circumstances?! For me, the rules are fine. The player receives a red and a suspension and the other team have the numerical advantage. Sometimes it happens in the 10th minute, sometimes in the 90th. Great when it goes for you, frustrating as hell when it goes against but after you’ve calmed down you’re thinking you’d expect one of your own players to do the exact same thing.
  2. It’s ridiculous that you want a penalty given for a foul outside the box. It’s part of the game and the player receives his punishment in the form of a red card and then a suspension for the next match. If the roles were reveresed, aye I’d be pissed off about it, but the Cove player would’ve been sent off and we’d have the numerical advantage, albeit only for a few minutes on this occasion.
  3. Rumsby is making up for it with penalties conceded, though.
  4. An absolutely ridiculous suggestion. Aye, it’s frustrating as f*ck when you’re on the wrong end of it but it’s part of the game and Eldson has taken his punishment for it. Sometimes it works out for you - like it did for us yesterday— and on other occasions it comes back to bite you on the arse.
  5. Same story every week with Nicoll and wild, reckless challenges.
  6. Are you the only Cove fan that uses p&b, by the way?!
  7. Either this full league is fucking hopeless or Lennon is a genius. Either way, a brilliant result today, especially after last week.
  8. I put Cove on my coupon so we were always going to win today. I’m going to start betting against us every week now.
  9. No Logan in the squad for Cove is a bonus. And they only have 3 subs.
  10. Sad to see Mitch go. Bar a few games this season he’s been excellent for us. That save at Firhill in the cup against Thistle, though
  11. It wasn’t a free kick for me at the time and nothings changed after watching the replay a few times.
  12. That commentator is a mile out claiming the first goal was hit from 30 yards out horrible defending from us as usual.
  13. I agree re all those players bar Page. He’s hardly played due to injury. I’d be giving him more time to prove himself.
  14. I forgot about Splaine as he was missing yesterday. Quite like the look of him so far. For me, Cunningham only seriously contributes every few games which isn’t good enough. Like you say, though, it’s all about opinions.
  15. Out of the current squad I’d only keep Mitchell, Goodie, Love, Gomis and Eldson. I thought Cunningham was absolutely anonymous yesterday and gave the ball away repeatedly, as did most of the team tbf to him. Cunningham hasn’t done enough in his time with us to get a new deal after the current one expires. Judging by how things have went so far, it’ll be us, East Fife and Peterhead in the bottom three. Dumbarton won’t be far off either. I can’t see us being cut adrift at the bottom, more change of that happening to EF based on results so far. But we won’t be far away from them.
  16. The big guy you brought on as a sub who’s on loan from Huddersfield looks a player.
  17. I’ve tried my best to be positive so far this season but after today’s performance it’s hard to be anything other than worried for our survival in this league.
  18. I agree with you. But they were fucking shite today, to be fair.
  19. True, but more often than not Goodie goes a full game with next to no service nowadays. Don’t blame him for getting pissed off and looking disinterested. Then we bring Rob Jones on to partner him up front to top it all off for him…
  20. I thought you played some excellent one and two touch stuff. Lucky if we strung two passes together all game.
