  1. Totally agree. Looked as if we already had our minds on the League. The penalty shootout completely summed the game up, absolute dross !
  2. They also do it all for the love of the game ! Oh, wait a minute......
  3. Loan players (not registered in time) and trialists would not have been able to play int he League Cup anyway, so we may well have players currently training with us who would be able to come in for the League Campaign.. At least that is my hope, time will tell.
  4. Not much to add, obvious where the problems lie at the back , apart from that we look fairly well equipped for L1. I'm quite sure Danny and Alan are well aware of what we need and will be working on getting it sorted before the EF game. Never easy losing at Firhell, but could have been a whole lot worse !
  5. Good to hear Dave, looks like yesterday's game was one of those where he did look disinterested! Glad to hear the ex Clyde boys are doing well, especially Blair who made a massive contribution last year. Many Clyde fans were surprised we let him go, good luck to the lad . With Nicoll, I did feel he might struggle in L1, but was a big fan of him, another who has the goodwill of the Bully Wee fans for his commitment and never say die attitude in ths last couple of seasons. Good luck this year
  6. Essentially agree regarding the defence, needs to be a lot better and the McNiff argument yeh possibly, maybe I'm blinded by the contribution goal wise from the guy, which possibly exaggerates his capabilities at CH, but I do think hes capable in that position. Did remark same thing today regarding recruitment, and I think everyone would welcome both a CB and LB. Regarding Smith I thought he looked weak, and even disinterested today (maybe harsh), could it be that at 32 we have picked him up too late ? Dearly hope I'm wrong, and plenty time for him to prove that's not the case. Regardless I think DL is entitled to some leeway, and confident will get it right In the long term.
  7. Poor today especially at the back and a lot of that was due to a poor performance from McNiff which for me unsettled the whole defence. He will he fine at CH but we desperately need a lett back and I'm sure DL will be aware of this. McStay and Smith were also either anonymous or making too many mistakes (McStay example 3rd goal). Positives: the fightback, and subs who made a big difference (yes, including Lyons !). As for Chris Johnston, different class and will be a major player for us this season. These games should be used to get us up to speed for the League campaign, and I'm sure the management team will be looking to bring in the players we need, probably via loan deals. In Danny we trust. Keep the faith!
  8. I reckon Banksy has a great future, fantastic prospect, and the only negative I could see was some of his decision making, obviously not surprising give his age, and which will definitely improve with time. Will be keeping an eye on his progress and he will always be held in high regard down Broadwood way for his contribution to our memorable season. All the best for this season
  9. Just looking at your squad from last night I see Banks came on, do you reckon he will be part of your League squad for the coming sesson ? Would love to see him back on loan, but seems highly unlikely !
  10. Hearts site has him as a Central Defender. Would make more sense, as we definitely don't need another midfielder!
  11. Looks like he had a good season with EK, players and supporters player of the year. Big step up to League One from Lowland, but if Lennon is thinking of signing him up I'm more than happy to trust his judgement.
  12. Correct, we played at Firhill for a few seasons then went to Douglas Park (where we were treated much better !) for a couple of seasons, before moving to Broadwood in 1994. I do miss old grounds like Shawfield, DP and Broomfield, and I remember one particularly stonking match at Broomfield which ended 4-3 to Airdrie. Some of your 'more mature' fans will remember that one
  13. No Saturday games as well. P1sh
  14. Jordan Stewart seemed to have a few injury/illness issues, and Lennon didn't play him much during the 2nd Half of the season. However always thought we looked solid at the back when he was in the team, and think he will do well with Rovers fitness- dependant.
  15. 4 Clyde players in the SPFL team of the season, Rumsby, Rankin, McStay and Currie. And 2 more who have signed up to the cause
  16. Don't think Stirling will ever have a better chance, as Peterhead and Clyde 2 of the 3 strongest teams in the League last year, and the third losing a lot of players (although could recruit well again given Murphy's previous signings). Certainly don't think Brechin and Stenny will bring as much to the table Be good to see Stirling in League 1, always a cracking away day (presuming we retain L1 status !).
  17. Wish Blair Currie all the best, he had his moments, but was a big part of our successful season with a lot of games where he made crucial saves (which were often overlooked when he made the odd mistake). Can't blame him for wanting 1st team football, and reckon he will be a good signing for Stirling.
  18. Grant is for me the most influential player in the team Brilliant news
  19. Smarticus cheering us on in the playoffs yesterday, class. Wish only the best for the big guy, and Rovers seem to have got the best out of him, so a good match up, hopefully he will sign up for you and do well next season.
  20. Oh dear,,,,, https://www.pressreader.com/uk/daily-record/20181005/283394832773752
  21. Hearing you have signed Adam Martin, winger, ex-Alloa and who was with us on loan last season. Didn't get much of a look-in for us after Lennon signed a few players in January after signing Martin on loan. , but he is tricky and has a lot of pace. Guaranteed to have 4 blinders against us next season !
  22. With both City and Clyde starting to pick up, it's not looking good for Cowden. Should make for an interesting game next week !
  23. Good player at this level. Would really have liked to have kept him, but no point if his hearts not in it.
