Whilst I disagree with the postponement rule as a whole, I'm glad we have exercised it in this case. Playing Thursday-Sunday-Thursday-Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday is tough on the players this early in the season.

Palace do it. So what's the deal? They'd be controlled by a handler regardless.
In other news, it's about a month old, but did anyone see Jason Brown trying to have a go at Clangers and tell him to grow up, then admit he went behind David Gonzalez's back asking for his place in the team. Link.
Think it was mentioned on here at the time. I think Langfield has been trying to make a point about this on Twitter, he posted a picture a couple of weeks back with him laughing alongside the two other keepers with a caption along the lines of "See, I do get on with other keepers" and has praised Danny Ward in just about every game he's played so far.
Brown in generally an arsehole, he thought he was a much better keeper than he actually was.

Rumour around here about Langfield joining St Mirren after his testimonial. Anyone know if its bollocks or not? Cheers
A lot of rumours going around that he will join either you or Dunfermline after his testimonial.

I would start Pawlett. He looked dangerous when he came on in the last game and the opposition won't have sussed out how to deal with his preference of driving into space in the middle of the pitch, like a lot of Scottish teams have. The referee also won't be aware of his reputation to go to ground easily so will be more likely to win fouls, especially if there are a few heavy challenges. McLean could also be effective if we're pushing on and playing high up the park and would play Considine ahead of Quinn, simply because he's more used to playing with Taylor and will give the defence more balance.
Ward
Logan Taylor Considine ShinnieMcGinn Pawlett Jack McLean Hayes

Tbf, if you're wanting to put Hearts in their place. I'd be prioritising Stevie May as a signing.
Not that you've got a chance at all with getting him. No Scottish team does as mentioned.
No point anyway, he wouldn't start for us.

Rumours on twitter that Ryan Jack has been named captain.

Twist and Shout also seemed to feature all day both days. There was one mid afternoon on the Saturday where the whole of Temple Bar was bouncing. We were in the Auld Dubliner and went outside to see what was going on and it was just brilliant.
The band in Gogarty's were playing it on the Thursday night, scenes ensued.

Clark Robertson thoughts? Rumoured to have signed for us today
Who are "us"? Robertson is quite shite.

Raven lol?? Solid player but not what we are looking for.
I wonder if there is the budget and inclination to sign a real player for next season, Stevie May for example. The players linked so far are solid but unspectacular signings.
Is Shinnie not a "real player".

I believe Watkins then Shinnie had the most assists from open play in the league this season.
I think McGinn had the most in the league but a few were corners/free-kicks.
All the more ammo for Rooney!

2nd in Premiership vs. 3rd in Championship. Europa League vs. Petrofac Cup. Whole squad of good players tied down on long-term deals vs. a few over-paid has-beens.
But he's a pyoor Raynjurs man byraway

A few mouth breathers in there.
Lad with the coke carton is probably sucking air through that straw in an passive aggressive manner.
Ryan Hardie...
Mutants down the front, ginger haired one in the middle with the thick glasses looks like their leader.
He's got a witch peeping over his shoulder.

Orkney and Shetland Islands.
Orkney have a team in the North Caledonian League although there are only 6 teams and 10 fixtures each which makes things easier. Teams can get ferries between Thurso and Orkney on the same day.
Shetland would always struggle to have a team in any kind of league, despite having a bigger population and better team in recent years. Teams would generally need to travel to and from Aberdeen leaving on Friday evening and getting back Sunday morning. Shetland do have a team playing in the North Caledonian Cup and even won it this year, as well as the Island Games and Inter-county matches with Orkney, but travel issues would probably prevent them ever competing in a mainland league unfortunately.
Scottish Cup could be an option, although I think there were issues regarding the fact that both Orkney and Shetland are essentially select teams of their local leagues and not separate clubs.

I'm not too sure you've got the right Shinnie in that write up there Lubo.
I do realise we have signed Graeme Shinnie, who usually plays full back, and not his brother, Andrew Shinnie, who is a midfielder. Graeme has played in midfield for Inverness before and there has been a lot of speculation that he may play there for the Dons due to the good form of Andy Considine at left back this season and the rumours regarding Ryan Jack leaving the club.

Great to see he's extended his deal. Doubt we'll see another midfielder come in now. Jack, Flood, McLean, Robson, Smith, Pawlett, Hayes and now Shinnie are all capable of playing there and I can't see any of them leaving any time soon.

Shaughnessy is steady enough, would probably do alright job for a lower Premiership side but don't think he'd start for you lot. Not quite mobile enough to be a good full back and not quite strong to be a good centre back.
Robertson isn't quite as bad as everyone makes out but he's not good enough for us and if he gets a move to the Eredivisie or English Championship then he has the best agent in the land. He seems like a bit of an arsehole as well.

I believe we are entitled to compensation if he signs for a Scottish club but not an English club, could be wrong though.

Hes got a better strike rate (goals per game) in all three divisions they both played in (Premiership, Championship here and in England)
May
England: 0.18 goals per game
Scottish Premiership/Premier League: 0.36 goals per game
Scottish First Division: 0.76 goals per game
Rooney
England: 0.24 goals per game
Scottish Premiership/Premier League: 0.42 goals per game
Scottish First Division: 0.69 goals per game
Rooney better in two out of three of your categories. Quite similar goal records over the past few years but, based on Rooney's 0.56 scoring rate for the Dons over the last 18 months, I would not be looking to replace him any time soon.
F*cking love stats

May's at a much earlier stage in his career and has a better goal scoring record than Rooney at the same level or higher, no contest imo .
Well that just isn't true.

Wouldn't have him over Rooney and wouldn't really want to alter our system to accommodate him in the starting 11. Rooney as main striker and Goodwillie and Shankland as back up will be fine for next season.
We should focus our efforts on getting a goalkeeper, a midfielder and a back up defender.

Having to watch the football on the laptop because the Chromecast isn't working.
Similarly having to watch BT Sport via Internet Explorer instead of Chrome as Chrome no longer supports Microsoft Silverlight.
Having to remember my Dad's login details was an inconvenience.

I was dreading this day glad he has been given an ambiguous "behind-the-scenes" role though.
Hope Russell gets a cameo against Dundee as I won't be able to make the last day of the season.

If Aberdeen sell Jack does that show a lack of ambition from the club?
Not at all. He doesn't seem keen on signing a new deal and his contract runs out next summer so would be best to take £1mil or so now instead of getting nothing next year (he will be 24 next summer and I think that is too old for us to be entitled to a development fee).
He's a brilliant player and I don't think anyone would begrudge him a move to Everton. It is likely a good chuck of any transfer fee would be reinvested in the team as well.

The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23
in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Posted
I used to post quite regularly on mad but these days I have click sign-in, get directed to that daft "pay £20 for no ads" nonsense, type in your user and password, for some reason have to check all my settings are alright (every time) and then finally get taken back to the main forum page, not even the thread I wanted to post in. By this point I've probably already forgotten what I was going to post in the first place. Still read most of the posts but its really not as good as the old days, and the new update is atrocious, you automatically get taken to the first page of a thread and have to navigate each page one at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if it died off completely after this update. Would be a shame given how good it used to be.
Chat is full of zoomers and nothing happens on Donstalk. A lot of folk just use Facebook and Twitter these days as well.
I would love StandFreeEd to leave the footymad format and create a new independent Ab Mad site with a layout like this one but can't see it happening unfortunately.
