I don't get why Nisbet gets no game time at all. Have him and Clarke falling out or does he just no rate him?

Only Clarke can answer that, but I suspect he sees him as some kind of a reactive option rather than someone would can fit into the system he wants to deploy.

he'd be our top caps winner easily if it wasn't for his injuries. That 2 year spell with his mysterious knee tendon injury and this past year.

Having mcgregor and marshall available at the same time also cost him.

100%, I had a quick look there and he is on 74 caps. Had it not been for that injury and the 2 keepers mentioned then there is no doubt he would have. For me, I loved Andy Goram, he was one of the reasons I wanted to be a Keeper, but there could be a very strong argument made that Gordon has been our best ever.

I’m not sure there is that much to wait on. Walking out on a camp (which without the speculation does look like what’s happened going by Clarke’s interview) is never going to go down well and I’d be surprised if we called him up again.

The Clarke interview I watched on Youtube, Clarke himself said that he was injured and had returned to the club rather than fly out to Cyprus. Craig Levien said on Sportsound podcast that this is pretty standard these days as clubs want the player back as soon as possible. It's the media and the click bait sites that are drumming up the speculation from what I can see.

Its not what's being said for me but rather what's not being said. If it was an unfortunate genuine injury then all it would take is for the player to come out and say 'im injured. looking forward to joining up in the next break'.  Or Steve Clarke to say like wise which he didn't. Its pretty clear he's wasted everyone's time here and we wont be seeing him in a Scotland shirt again.

HHmmm, you have a fair point here.....one that on reflection, I would probably agree with, I posted the other day that he could put an end to all this by releasing a Tweet or a statements saying something along the lines of "I'm injured, but I'm looking forward to working hard and hopefully being called up to the next squad", by not doing this then the speculation will continue, so yes, it's what's not getting said I suppose, so fair comment. My "wait and see" comment is probably more the fact that none of us really know, people will speculate, that's what the public do, but all these articles seem to have the same sensationalist headlines and very little, certainly nothing new, in the way of content or quotes, which is why I would rather just wait and see what happens really. I suspect Clarke is not the sort of guy to do a u-turn, so if Anderson has decided it's not for him, I suspect for as long as Clarke is manager, there will be no way back.

Again another click bait article which is a regurgitation of previous articles,  has no new information and has no quotes from the player or his agent .

Whole saga remains up in the air as far as I can see.

Spot on, I'm filing all this into the "wait and see" category!!!

2 wins in 20 odd games. We also must leave Meadowbank at the end of this season to survive as a club in my opinion.

I post this as an Away Supporter and as a football than that also floats around random games with my son, simply enjoying other footballing experience away from Stirling and Scotland and I have to whole heartedly agree with this. Edinburgh City will never be an attractive proposition whilst you play there. Obviously a coupe, of your own fans have posted above saying they've not been there and talked about the experience, if Edinburgh as a club can not keep your current fan base, attract Away Supporters like myself along....then it goes without saying that you're in trouble. That's without even mentioning growing a fanbase or getting further into the community and attracting others along.

I know a good number of people who'll not be at the Edinburgh v Stirling games, paying the money for that kind of matchday experience just isn't priority, so it's a game a good number of general Away supporters would most likely leave.

It would be a brave chairman that takes a chance on him. He's had 5 promotions which isn't to be forgotten but his stock is incredibly low.

Would definitely need to go down a league and rebuild his reputation from scratch.

Very true, but looking at the players he was able to bring in at Alloa and then Cove at the time, he must have been financially very very well backed by the clubs. This wasn't a guy that achieved promotions by recruiting well and building a club or recruiting well and punching above their weight. He's damaged goods (more than once) and we are to believe that he is a very divisive character off the field, I can't for a minute imagine that when a vacancy comes up at a club with a more modest budget, or at somewhere where the Manager is expected to wheel and deal and punch above their weight, that Hartley would be top of the boards wanted list.

Speaking of folk sneaking things in - Glengarrys should be banned. Auld guy in front of me had one and could barely see a fucking thing. Do these folk have no common sense at all that they are blocking the view for about 17 rows behind them. One of these guys with about 100 pin badges.

They things are an absolute pain in the arse, I have been in this position before.

Seen a girl in Cyprus approach a couple of young Scotland fans singing that Harry Kane song and she absolutely went through the boy (rightly so). Seen her group leaving after the game and they had a handicapped family member. Out of order singing that shite

I've said it previously, however I absolutely detested that song last night and I have no reason to other than I'm a Dad and if my Son or Daughter was born handicapped then it would break my heart hearing people have fun at them like that and using that word as a way to mock someone. So well done to that girl, I honestly hope it's the last time I hear this at a Scotland game, it's shameful.

Would the English national anthem be booed if they changed it to Jerusalem or land of hope and glory? Yes, probably less so but yes.

Would the English national anthem be booed if they changed it to Mr Blobby by Mr Blobby? Undoubtedly.

Can only talk for myself but I wouldn't boo the 3 suggestions you made, the last one I may laugh at though haha. Anyway, Jerusalem or land of hope and glory would be boo'd less i'm sure.

The team that Southgate put out was far stronger than ours. A big team that dominated the pitch. We could not match them, physically. They were good in possession of the ball as well.

If you can't out muscle the other team then you have to be quicker than them. We were slow and our passing was not good enough.

I said that to my son just before kick off. I thought the German's were always like that but they were of that mould.

All in all a night to forget.

Hate to sound like a wet wipe but the crowd were an absolute riot last night. had 2 hammered guys try and claim I was in their seat (after 60 and 70 mins respectively), some guy screaming at my section calling us all c***s because we weren't singing, and another hammered guy sat next to me talking utter shite in my ear for the entire first half.

Definitely the most pished crowd I've seen for a midweek game.

I sit in the South Stand, not too far from the away support and I was embarrassed by certain sections last night. The Harry Kane song, the bottle throwing incident and individual behaviours throughout were not what I have grown used to having followed the national team for over 30 years. I

It’s absolutely no surprise to me that England are producing a significant number of high quality footballers.

There have been huge investments in the last 20 years in grass roots football and their club academies.

Our facilities in contrast are a million miles away from the same standards. Even the facilities at Celtic and Rangers would likely not be near the levels of most premier league clubs down south.

The gap in quality will only get wider.

The TV money and advertising revenue that filters through the English game is off the scale.

Add to the fact that they have a population 10 times our nation it’s really no surprise we struggle to compete on a regular basis.

Spot on, the way they market there game has not been followed by ourselves, and the way the money filters through to grass roots level is also the right way to do things however, although the SFA set up is good and is producing players now, they're 10+ years in front of us and still put money into better facilities and coaching.

As an aside, I thought the atmosphere last night was a bit flat at times. That’s something I’ve noticed at Hampden on quite a few occasions recently, with the Spain game being a notable exception. The Nigel’s had a drum and were all singing and making lots of noise.

Might it be a good idea to get a dedicated singing section at Hampden rather than random disjointed pockets of the crowd trying and failing to get a song going?

Again agreed, I think the SFA need to seriously consider a singing sections or something. The atmosphere has been pretty chronic for some time now. Yes, there have been spells and I do think the DJ stirs it up, but for long times during the game, the place is flat.

Tried to go on and get in on this. Even though McT has gone up to 16s, a fiver on this Bet Builder only returns 250 now.

I managed to get this on. It didn't work doing it as a Bet Builder, but adding them to bet slip separately and putting on as a Double is returning over a grand for a fiver atm! Must be a glitch

Surely must be a glitch, but certainly one that's worth putting a fiver on until it's rectified as it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Must say, that I would love for McSauce to have the game of his life tonight and for something like this to happen to him. In this more advanced role, I think he has been brilliant and is wasted sitting in the stand at Man U, so it would be great for him to show Ten Hag what he can do along with the English media because the likes of Talksport would be all over that.,

Yeah, from what I've heard I'll be very surprised if Anderson plays for us.

I know this thread is about Barnes, however if Anderson wants to put end to this speculation then he could do so quite simply. He's obviously had a number of conversations with Clarke and/or SFA representatives and knows what playing for Scotland offers, so if he is committed to Scotland, he should simply put out a statement along the lines of "I'm injured, and I'm looking forward to being involved in future squads". If he does that then all the speculation will go away, if he doesn't then it will continue until he is next selected for a Scotland/England squad.

Barnes on the other hand, I can get why he doesn't want to go public on his thoughts and he should remain quiet for now.

We're unlikely to have as good a manager in 5 years' time too, which could be a major factor.

Not sure who the natural successor to Clarke will be, I've always had a wee hunch that it will be Moyes, even more so since he announced on the BBC Euro20 podcast that he "would like to do it one day". I think the SFA need to get it right though, and should probably be looking to identify his successor well in advance of Clarke actually leaving (whenever that may be). I wouldn't be against Moyes, but then, I also think that McInness has proven to be a very astute manager, over time, and that he is someone who can get players playing for him, and that's what we need, not someone who is simply flavour of the month.
