  1. You should be fine, we were all just at the right age to be over doing the hokey kokey when Armand One was at the club......
  2. I've had a problem with my right knee for years, which I'm told is fluid built up behind the patella. Compounding this is my Achilles tendon in my right ankle which are fucked and intermittently robs me of the ability to put much weight on my foot. And I'm only 24.
  3. I'm not that calm at football games, I've stopped pretending to try. At the recent QP game one of the lads form Fifesfinest came and sat behind me on the rationale that even if we lost, at least he'd be entertained by the sight of Mr angry going off on one.....
  4. You must be more forgiving than me, I would have dumped her there and then
  5. Just fucked a PCB board i was trying to build, It's fucking annoying because it's a SMT SO-8 chip I'm trying to solder on, I've constructed PCBs with smaller chip pin pitch sizes before no bother, yet this one b*****ding chip is doing my nut in, that and the soldering iron I'm using is on it's last legs, the only other immediatly available is a big chunky b*****d that's absolutely no good to me. FUCKIT!
  6. Misfits - one last caress. lyrics recommended for all family weddings
  7. Watchmen to be honest, being a huge fan of the Alan moore original works I was slightly underwhelmed. For three hours long I found it massively skeletal in comparison to the book. The motivation behind the characters was the real driving force in Moore's book and in the movie, for time constraints, this is often glossed over or ignored completely (such as Manhatten's nakedness as a symptom of his increased withdrawal form human society). Rorshach, Nite Owl and Dr.Manhatten were all spot on. Personally I found Veidt to be more withdrawn and less human than in the book (such that a lot of the emotional response to the Veidt plan is lost) and the Comedian did not deliver his lines with any kind of conviction I felt. Still, decent movie attempt - much better than previous Moore adaptions. Rorshach stole the show as he did in the book. 7/10
  8. Luna Park by .......and you will kow us by the trail of the dead. From their new album 'the century of the self. Texas noiseniks, absolutely back to their best. Fucking fantastic.
  9. Is the child stuck in the wife's throat? could be causing a blockage.
  10. go home, get pished. Then laugh in the knowledge that other postgrads are stuck in their office with malfunctioning circuits to try and fix.....
  11. There is only so much streamlining you can do, even if you go down to the hex level (god forbid), I just want more memory! (battlecry of the frustrated programmer)
  12. My apologies, you did at one time though right, a fairly impressive goatee that would catch food! anyway, my reason for annoyance.... Finally got my code to compile and it's taken up more than a third of the available 16kB on the chip.... all for a master/slave i2c protocol and a routine for reading from the UART... there is so much more I need to stick on the bloody thing too
  13. What's the point in having a beard if you can't suck the leftover morsels of last night's multipack out of them?
  14. You couldn't help but clap it really. Wales' volley against Brechin this season was damn well hit and I recall Weir scoring a bloody good one against Brechin weeks after williams thunderbolt although curiously, it's one of the few home games not to have match highlights
  15. Depends, Israel may continue until the will of the palestinian people eventually just breaks. In my opinion Israel does not see this as a counter insurgency campaign, but rather a national war to finally put an end to palestinian resistance. In COIN ops it's about hearts and minds, seperating the goats form the sheep and keeping the populace on side, the israelis are treating this almost like a total war, trying to demolish the palestinian state organs and wiping out their physical and moral means of resisting....
  16. Good on paper. The British attempted to bring the more radical militias into the political process in southern Iraq, the success of which was dubious. Some simply attempted to go too far in imposing their own will without paying heed to the democratic process and were subsequently squashed by the resurgent Iraqi army. In fact it pissed of the US who seemed to think that there were 'good' guys and 'bad' guys in iraq rather than simply iraqis..... they accused us of all kinds of woolly liberal thinking but there is no doubt that political re engagement of these groups is the only way to get a long term decrease in violence.
  17. Really? the British army did achieve it's desired end state. It was there to back up the civil authority. This it did, it didn't have to decimate the IRA to beat it, it merely had to go the distance to win. N. Ire is still British and the IRA have disarmed so that then would be the desired end state... enough though, it's a totally different discussion, I only raised the point in order to demonstrate the differences in the two situations and why one could not be used as an analogy for the other. XBL: Even if nuetrality was an issue, even yuo can clearly see the difference in strategiesd and objectives between what the British army did in N.I. and what the Israelis are attempting in Gaza.
  18. Bad analogy. In NI, the initial trouble was between the indegionous protestants and catholics of the area, the police was being overwhelmed and the army was called in to act as support to the RUC, of course this evolved into an anti terroism campaign, however the army's stated objective was to essentially stop the other two sides banging each other's heads together long enough for a political solution to be attempted... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Banner in other words, the British army was primarily a third party peacekeeping force in the area. This is far different from the two sided conflict in Israel, where the israeli army is acting as if it is fighting a stand up conventional opponent who is trying to breach the integrity of the Israeli state.
  19. Watched 'thank you for smoking' with Aaron Eckhart last night on film four, liked it a lot - brilliantly surreal with an amoral lead character that is impossible to dislike.... 8/10
  20. Well, it escalates until one side or the other breaks. That's kind of what war is.....
  21. It's more probably a complete f**k up of co-ordination. Never ascribe to malevolance what can easily be attributed to incompetence. Lets say soldiers of B company 2nd infantry regiment of Israeli 3rd infantry division puts people in a house to try and keep them safe. They communicate this to perhaps regimental level, no higher. Later the 4th Artillery battery attached to Israeli 5th armoured division gets a call from it's own infantry troops to call down fire upon a certain target, unaware that other israeli troops from another unit have put civilians in there. Shit, it happens way to often, left hand and right hand not knowing what the hell they are doing.
