  1. Dont forget the fact that he comes across as an obnoxious wee arsehole.

I passed a load of Edinburgh private school pupils yesterday and wished that I had a suitcase full of Harry Potter merchandise as I would have made a killing.

More fucking ponces and 'Daddy's little girls' than I've ever seen in my life.

Aye, true enough - I cannae stand the wee fucks. Still edinburgh has it's own brand of 6 fingered mutants that make the links look good, unfortunately a lot of them live around gorgie area where I am :( .

  2. Hmm, that's pretty bad planning. The two big bands on at the same time. By the way, where are you getting the info from? I can't find lineup times anywhere.

f**k knows, I may have imagined it

Most festivels are like that anyway, at TITP you can'nt watch the headliner on the NME stage all the way through if you want to go see the main stage headliners

  3.

Surely they wont be on at the same time?!

I think there is some cross over yeah, will probably spend the majorit yof the day in the dance tent because some of the other bands really are gash.

  4. How many tickets have actually been sold for Rock Ness? There's still plenty available as far as I know so I wouldn't be too worried about not getting into the tent for Daft Punk and they probably clash with the Manics too. Although why anyone would want to see them over Daft Punk is beyond me.

Enjoy it! Wouldn't mind going myself but had Skye the other week and T in a month so can't really afford it. Hope there's not too many daytripping neds in from the town.

I'll be watching the Manics, basically the only reason I'm going - the rest of the line up is pish

  5. Msc projects....

Having begun this in early May and by the end of the second week of that month having worked out what I needed to do I've sat around doing f**k all for the last two weeks (except allow my P&B post rate shoot up) since no one will give me access to the equipment to do my experiments. The guy said to me "most Msc students don't produce much practical outcome" no shit sherlock, I wonder why not?????

Thankfully they might finally be letting me do some work!

  6. Try to catch a movie called Bubba Ho-Tep.

Bruce Campbell plays Elvis Presley who is alive and well but living in an old folks home. No-one believes him of course, they think he's an Elvis impersonator but BC insists that he switched lifestyles with the impersonator in the late 70s just before his death.

Anyway, this Mummy keeps appearing and stealing the souls of the old folks at the home. Elvis teams up with JFK (played by a black actor!) to try to thwart the Mummy with comedic horror results.

got it on DVD, love it.

"Even a big bug like you oughta know, never - but, never - f**k with the king"

  7. Spiderman 3.

Fucking brilliant, Venom is shit hot and even the Sandman character is quite good.

    Some genuinely funny parts too.

    8/10.

    Bruce Campbell = Legend

I liked spiderman 3 but there was easily enough story there to do spiderman 4, 5 and 6 as well! I think Venom deserved a movie to himself. Oh well, we might see his son Carnage in the future.

  8. Silent hill was atmospheric alright, not a bad attempt to make a movie out of a game that genuinly was quite creepy.

I hate CGI heavy stuff as well, I still love Alien - you barely see the creature until the end while the Dallas in the airshaft scene is sheer class, suspense, cluastrophobia, the sudden shock.... just really well done. Compare that to the travesty of the third and forth movies of that series.

Some of the real oldies are still good, like house on haunted hill - 1955 version not the shite one with Catherine corpse fucker zeta jones in it. Or Quatermass and the pit.

Modern 'gore' movies are fine for a laugh but stretching it a bit to call it horror.

Still love the evil dead series mind, Bruce Campbell is sheer fucking class (anyone ever seen him in Bubba Ho tep? )

  9. Hostel - wow 8.5/10 :D

Gory horror/soft porn, I thought it was good but the missus didn't enjoy it  maybe one for the guys here ;)

    Currently watching Saw III.

    It is fucking garbage!

Even if there is a final twist in the last half hour, it will not make up for the first 90 minutes of pish!

Shame, I really enjoyed the first two as well.

Oh aye, both are fucking garbage, particularly hostel where the 'gore' - which unless you don't like the sight of blood does not qualify as horror - is used as a substitute for a really poor set up, love that bit where everyone who set the boy up is standing in the middle of the road conveniently waiting to be run over :lol::lol:

Horror movies should pay more attention to atmosphere, get away from gore which, lets be honest, most folk are pretty de-sensitised too. People will always be scared by things that they can't see or that stalk in shadows.

  10. Cheeky! Reason I do engineering modules is because...

They're better than some of the computing modules we do, and much more useful. It's just that they tend to rely a lot on already knowing half the stuff from previous modules we ain't done.

Aye, well, I did my undergrad as an Electrical Engineer, my postgrad is Microsystems and I suddenly had to do crash courses in Mechanics, Optics, Fluidics and Biotechnology

Programming? I never have been able to stand that stuff, I can just about cope with C, the rest is just taking the piss <_<

  11. Revising for engineering exams suck. Been procrastinating like mad, and the siren call of FM has been strong...

    But i have resisted!

And been posting on here instead.

Every time I've revised for exams and been stuck I've always fallen back on: at least I'm an engineer and not some bloody business studies monkey.

It's tough but it's worth it

  12. The soundtrack by Underworld is excellent as are the special effects and the acting.

However several big plot holes exist to allow the story to develop and one minor irritation...would people on earth who had endured years of ice age and permafrost really be out building snowmen?

    7/10

yeh that's true however, most sci fi needs some suspension of disbalief to make it good, true 'hard' sci fi, ie stuff based on pure hard science fact tend to be dull reads

  13. Body Melt - Aussie horror about a new health drug with some bizarre side effects which include not surpisingly given the title of the film, your body melting, worth watching purely to see Ian Smith (Harold Bishop of neighbours), playing a baddie and saying f**k, also stars a few of the old cast of neighbours, toby mangel, melanie with the daft laugh from many years ago and toadfish's maw

    5/10

Just found a review for that movie with some screenshots, looks fucking hilarious :lol::lol:

  14. Nope! Thats a no-goer, Im gutted to miss the game, but rather miss a game than hurt her feelings! The championship winning match will be next week anyway!

to be fair to the lad, James reforming and gigging is pretty monumentus, I know guys who would give their eye teeth for those tickets, However, I agree we need to see pictorial evidence of the girl. At the moment I'd say your probably 50/50 for game/gig. If she's hot and you have a reasonable chance of scoring then you can probably be excused one game
