  1. For what it's worth I was in the piemans company when he was asked about players wages he said an average of less than £250.I also work with a close relative of one who confirmed that his relation was on £250 and the top wage was £16k a year. No one is getting £800-1000 a week and some of these players from the senior game weren't getting a game.Moore hadn't kicked a ball for a season and was the understudy to Shankland before that. Hardly a player that Championship clubs would be chasing. Mick Kennedy is the Mourhinho of lower league football. He doesn't just buy team he puts it together and gets them playing to the best of there ability.Best non league manager about

For starters he’s no the chairman he’s the president but ur missing the point without googling most football fans couldn’t tell u who the chairman of livingston , Motherwell  . Celtic is so why does he have to come out with all his stupid statements and get interviewed all the time ? If it’s once it’s fine and I’ve no issues with that but his constant Pish is hard to listen to , it’s no about him it’s about the manager and players

According to the media he's the chairman and he's the face of Darvel .I  have never heard of him being called the president Most people couldn't tell you the name of one player but they  could certainly name him and what his company are famous for. He's moved Darvel into the 21st century and some don't like it for some reason. What's your ? You were once in his inner circle and probably instrumental in getting him involved.

  3. Sustainability and football don't go together and Darvel would be no different from a number of teams in Scotland who rely on directors generosity to  survive. As for comparing the pieman to the secretary of the Talbot is like apples and pears. For starters the pieman is the chairman and that apart he runs a very successful business who advertise on TV. Any TV or media attention is free publicity for his company. BTW I had to point out to the Darvel committee a few seasons back who the Talbot secretary was. I don't really get this obsession with them.

  4. Plenty of happy people on here they couldn't wait to see Darvel get beat. Darvel have shown what the standard of football is in the WOSFL and can only be good for the game at this level. Most other clubs would love a chairman and manger like Mike and John. As for the manager moving on to a bigger club it won't be any in the WOSFL he will be aiming much higher than that. He's been quoted for the Patrick job along with a the likes of Hughes and other failed top league managers. The pieman is in for the long haul and most of the  investment in the team has came from sponsors ,cup runs and advertiser's. As for last night's game beat by a better team simple as that though the sending off didn't help.

So they were putting 500 tickets up for sale on Saturday for those attending the WoSFL fixture. Was there 500 Darvel fans in attendance? I'm assuming ST holders and lottery members were already catered for?

Bizarre from the police. I hadn't heard any issues around too many in for the Dons game, just that Darvel had managed the event well.

If you had read the post you would have seen I said a missed opportunity if the public had known the capacity was cut. Lottery and season ticket holders were catered for on Sunday as I said in the post. I believe they could buy up to 4 and we're sold out long before the 5 pm deadline. The capacity was cut by the police because it was to busy so there must have been issues with parking and congestion on the main road. If you really want to know you can email the chief constable

  6. There was a public sale it was at the game on Saturday.Between what they sold on Saturday and to lottery members and season ticket holders on Sunday there is none left. The capacity was cut because the police said it was to busy the last time. If the public had known that there would be nowhere near the number available as the Aberdeen game I am sure there would have been a lot more at the game on Saturday.A missed opportunity by Darvel unlike them

It was posted somewhere on here the prize money breakdown and I think if Darvel had gone out the other night there  money would have been around the £45k mark not counting tickets etc v Aberdeen. I believe the ground improvements to host the game were in the region of 40-50k so even although they will pocket a few quid unless they beat Falkirk I wouldn’t think the prize money will be enough for 2 seasons with the outgoings that the club has.

Just like most clubs then even the ones at the top end of the game. See that big  advertising board that run along the Darvel side of the pitch..It costs a fortune to advertise on it during a TV game plus other sponsorship deals will take the money made well over £45k. The pieman must be loving all this free advertising on national telly he is enjoying.

300 is poor given the amount invested in your club and playing staff. Not sure what other clubs average but other towns with a population of 4,000 have crowds above that.

When the work was getting done it was to house the thousands of Aberdeen fans expected to attend. Some folk expected more Aberdeen fans to attend than attended a game against Killie. I questioned that logic and it appears to be proven correct if only 800 away tickets are sold.

Your President and players antics have done nothing to endear you to other clubs. You also haven’t done yourself any favours at times.

The point stands. The works aren’t justified for this crowd. You could have sold out without works and a limited number might have missed out but you were never getting 4,000 for the game. You’ve invested in facilities that will never get used as you’ll struggle to build on a 300 average gate which is during a period of success.

Darvel has a population of 3600 and 10% of the towns population is no bad considering. Towns with a far bigger population than Darvel struggle to get that % and most grounds in Scotland are  designed to hold a lot more than there average support

If what I’m hearing is correct and it’s £22 for adults and £16 concessions it’s just another shambolic decision from the club but You have the choice u either pay it or don’t .

what’s also very strange is the game is just over 2 weeks away and there has Been no confirmation of the prices or indeed what the capacity has to be .

all they have done is advertise saying if u join the lottery for 2 months it guarantees a ticket for the game so if I’ve done my maths correct that’s £42 to watch a junior team ! I’ve also heard that the capacity has been increased which means basically everyone who wanted a ticket for the game would have got one anyway so no need for this attempt to attract lottery members and one which will be sure to backfire on them .

let’s no be kidded here the sheep Brought 1200 to rugby park during a holiday period so they ain’t bringing 1200 to darvel on a Monday night with game live on tv and no rail links to the town .

I’m also sure  at let’s say £15 and £10 per  ticket many neutrals would have said let’s go to this and see if an upset will happen but im No so sure they will at the prices I’ve been told with game Live on telly.

this was a chance to attract new fans to the club but as per it looks from here as if they are junoor st trying to fleece people for as much as they can

Aberdeen will bring a lot more to a Scottish cup tie than a run of the mill league game even if it's midweek and on the telly. Darvel on the other hand won't even if it was reduced in price. The pieman ain't silly hence why he is trying to increase capacity. Darvel aren't  a junior team any longer and Aberdeen are one of the biggest teams in Scotland who will bring a sizeable support. Reducing it to £15 would probably lose Darvel money. It certainly won't add a thousand Darvel fans to the gate

  10. The novelty of playing the Talbot and other top teams has worn off. Nothing to do with Gall and without him there would be a lot less fans.Darvel would be playing in the lower divisions lucky to scrape a team up some weeks if he wasn't bankrolling them. A lot less than 50 would be traveling to watch them that's for sure

  11. Darvel certainly don't rely on gate money and haven't for a few seasons now. They have sponsors as well as rich backers. I was down last week for there junior cup tie and the crowd was sparse to say the least. The simple fact is without the pieman Darvel would be playing in the lowest level. He has also brought a degree of professionalism to club which some can't get round.  BTW if the GM does the job that's advertised he will bring in a lot more than £25k. Have you seen the job discription ? Everything from being a painter to commercial manager.

  12. John Gall has attracted other sponsor that wouldn’t be there bar for him. That apart where would Talbot be without the cup money. The Hearts game must have took as much in as the pieman has spent at Darvel. The pieman has taken Darvel into the modern game all be it with his financial backing and with a lot less than he throws at his own team

Gall is not old . He is 58. Age has nothing to do with the way he acts. As a successful businessman you’d think he’d know how to handle himself. Thank god he’s not involved at Killie.

He puts more cash into Killie than Darvel. Any Killie games he is at he is usually in Bowie’s company. He was also one of the instigators who got Bowie and others involved. A lot on here creaming in there pants because Darvel lost but If wasn’t for the pieman no one would have heard of a Darvel and though there support isn’t the biggest it is multiple times more than it was before he became involved

Don’t be silly , the guy is an outstanding professional so no blame on megs

He’s that much a professional he’s playing in the WOSFL. No team in the top leagues would allow any of there players to go on a stag do before the season ends and that includes play offs. Any manager with balls would be at the very least fining these guys. If they think they are bigger than they club they can go back to playing for £50 a week
