  1. If they are going to carry on with the sprint it should be

    Friday: FP1, Qualifying

    Saturday: FP2, reverse grid sprint

    Sunday: Race

Watching battles like Alonso v Perez while they also try and navigate a rapidly falling back Sargent would be tremendous.

would also give the smaller teams a decent chance at picking up a few extra points across the year

Well yes, under typical circumstances that's exactly the purpose of the Red, but it was clear everyone had parked up for the day anyway.

Not that it actually makes any difference, but it just smacks a bit of the typically ridiculous pant-wetting in current F1 the moment it isn't 30 degrees & sunshine. There was a good 3-4 minutes between the red being thrown and the serious stuff arriving, so you wonder what they would have done if cars had actually been out on the track and on course for setting faster times.

I think we're a bawhair away from F1 becoming another pisstake formula that just doesn't run in the wet, and although what appeared at the end of the session today wouldn't have been driveable in any era, it does feel like they have the horse ahead of the cart a bit at the moment when they always bring up 'safety' as the excuse for sitting in the pits when it's wet, when the reality is it's garbage design regs and the ridiculous prohibition on altering set-up between sessions that makes wet conditions undriveable.

Be interesting to see what would happen if that sort of weather appears tomorrow or Sunday, because the Sao Paulo crowd isn't known for being the most temperate and well behaved at the best of times. Can't see them just passively sitting watching 4 hours of nothing because it's spitting a bit.

Everyone had parked up so its a non issue then? 👍

The point was that there was clearly no intent from anyone to leave the pit as they were all well aware what was about to happen, so throwing the red was completely unnecessary, but for some reason thy went ahead and did it anyway.

If it was just rain, fair point but with high winds & lightning it surely becomes a duty of care thing.
