  1. What I love is my description as young, the 52 isn't my age but is a clue....

Apologies if I've suggested sending you to Australia, was sure you'd mentioned it before but the memory ain't as good as it used to be...

I wasn't trying to describe you, just 'a true Staggie'. As I understand it, you are Staggie No. 52, which either means the 52nd ever player to play for Riss County, or the 52nd person to join the Ross County FC Fan Club, founded 1929. Either way, you must be AT LEAST 90 years old, no?

  2. A true Staggie having discovered that talent would immediately abandon Australia and fly home for good. Just saying.......

And that's the difference, No. 52, between a young, enthusiastic, committed, honourable, spontaneous, naive True Staggie, and a wise, discerning, patient and prudent Great Stagsby.

Also, in order to 'abandon' Austrlaia, I assume I'd first need to spend some time there, and to be honest I can't afford the flights!

  3. I am equally confused. I'd already accepted what seemed to be our inevitable fate.

I cannot find a gif or a meme to even remotely sum up my feelings on this matter.

My "Your season so far, in a gif" thread had never been planned as such. In the run up to the Motherwell game I prepared a gif based firmly on the expectation that we were going to lose, and it would be safe to already sum up our whole season, in one gif.

Incidentally... It's not really my place to point this out, but what the hey: OUR TURNAROUND IN FORM COINCIDED WITH ME FLYING OVER FOR MY FIRST GAME IN YEARS. As it happens, our Scottish Cup run and winning of the first division also coincided with me being 'home'.

    You're welcome.

  4. ^^^ Ivan Sproule, innit.

    Eye Vans Prowl

Innit :thumsup2 The brain in Spain falls mainly in Spain's brain.

THIS IS MY FIRST EVER SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AND EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Steffen Wohlfarth?

    Sorry, no.

FY(pl)I, working it out from the clues results in the first letter of the surname jumping to the end of the first name. For example, clues for Stuart Kettlewell would produce something like Stuartk Ettlewell, although not necessarily (as in the current case) spelled the same as the real thing.

    If you get me.

In addition, some folks on working out this one, might look back and suggest that the use of "large" in the clue was a bit of a distraction. The clue could simply read "All-seeing vehicles are on the hunt". The point is, (and this is a fairly helpful hint to focus your thinking), the vehicles in question are large. Not ESPECIALLY large, but bigger than, say, a bicycle or car.

  6. Well, well! I've been round in so many circles with this one, Filip Kiss was one of my tenuous possibles, but with the link being fi-LIP + kiss. And the idea that made me ask if it had anything to do with drugs, was:

    Rock cocaine / Rocco Quinn.

I think this has all driven us a little crazy. At one point I started beating myself up that I couldn't think of what geographical feature "frempah" must be another name for.

  7. So just the one question left at this stage; the clever words Forfinn style one.

    Which player is this?

My latter may be considered an example of my former.

Clue being that Spain was on the right path with his interpretation of the question (see below), just the wrong player.

I'm actually intrigued and determined to take this more seriously. The bad news for me, is I'm better (slightly) at thinking them up than I am at working them out! Anyway, we're talking about a current player here, are we?

  8. I'm sorry, Sir Stagsby of Greatness. I just didn't imagine I was actually going to be right, I thought it was only me (okay, and dingdong) who constantly hark back to 90's indie. Next we'll be having Cast - Alright, for our casT-ALL RIGHT back Marcus Fraser

Edit: Yes it was the only one I could come up with quickly enough. Still trying to wedge The Wannadies or Dodgy in there somewhere. I guess Kiss could have been Dodgy's "Staying out for the Summer".

I think he was covering his arse in case he was wrong.

It was a very good clue, you did very well Stagsby.

    big-bang-there-there.gif

I'm welling up. You've made me so welcome here, thank you.

I'll give you both a greenie tomorrow*, all out for today**.

    *may not actually happen.

    **may not actually be true.

  9. If you want tedious, then here it comes:

Is it James (Jamie) Reckord? As the song "Sit Down" was the most famous RECORD by the band JAMES?

Tenuous? TTEENNUUOOUUSSS, you say? Compared to Darvydas Sore-ass and someone somewhere in the bench-warmer category? It couldn't be more direct. 'Sit down' = a James record. You're just saying that because it took you thirteen actual years* to work it out.

    Yes, you are right.

    Yes, I am seething.

*possibly meant to say "a few actual hours".

  10. Sit on yer arse.

    Sernas?

(in a bad east european accent: sir-nee-yas)

The 'turning it into an instruction' bit doesn't require as much work as that, and it will not give you the final answer. Just a simple instruction, in simple English.

I wasn't trying to guess; I was picking up on Spain's information.

I gave up long before that.

Indeed, the absence of a guess suggested you hadn't worked it out yet. I bet you'll win the race anyway, though. You or Spain. Or dingdong will start reeling off the entire squad one by one in a race to get it first and make me think he's cleverer than you.
