I said it once about a player that never played for Pennies that I know got offered money. I wasn’t saying that here though, I meant that guys happy to sit on a bench in big squads will be on money, ie lowland etc where’s a big squad is sustainable.

I’d agree with that, if boys aren’t getting money then they play amateur football to kick a ball about. Found this out first hand that the better the squad you have, the harder it is to keep players happy especially at a top team because they’re all good players. Im already thinking about that as I go about building this years squad it’s very difficult and almost naive if I was to think I just sign the best 20 players I can get because I’d inevitably lose a couple if they’re not in the squad or team.

Without knowing who other teams in the league have signed or who we will be signing, I don’t think thats something anyone can predict for now. There are some good teams in the league and i think it’s going to be a very hard league to come out on top of. AVU, Newcraighall, Pathead, West Barns and teams like Barca Milton now under new management will no doubt fancy their chances. I’d like to think once we have our team In place that we will certainly be one of the teams contesting the league but I doubt whoever wins it will have done so easily. I would like you to be right though!haha

Iv been told 9 Pennies and 6/7 from Craigshill will form the nucleus of the new team.

None. Iv not signed anybody yet but when I do, there will be nobody from Danderhall.

From what Iv been told, Danderhall are being decimated this season with a host of their players leaving.

I had them back in on Wednesday coz Iv been buzzing to get going. Start off properly the morn into next week and have 3 weeks until game 1 then a few thick and fast.

Other than Lothian Vale, Iv not seen much in the way of player announcements. It is however, very early and I’d expect to see the obligatory signing photos popping up over the next week or two as teams get back. We get together tomorrow and I expect il have a few signed up if I have time at the end.

You’ll get the chance to play against my new team next season if you stay with Pathead though, won’t you Darren?

Isn’t half some shite posted on here now. It’s clearly people who are at it, hiding behind usernames to try and wind people up. It’s no even banter, it’s just pish. There are a few sensible posters that make it worth coming on and speaking about football but f**k me, it’s turning into most of the other shitey threads you see here.

Until we see who team sign, results etc, we are all working on guesswork based on previous seasons or whose signed but you won’t be far off with this. Prem - Pennies/Craigshill are going to come in and really fancy themselves to be the team to stop Sandys dominance of that league as will Tollcross who run close this year. Very interested to see how teams like Tranent and Danderhall strengthen because they’re hard places to go. Lothian East- AVU won their league last year and will no doubt strengthen. We will be mentioned due to the signings everyone expects me to make (even though we don’t have a single player yet! Haha) and if we get them, I would expect us to be up there for sure. Other than that, West Barns and Pathhead only other teams I managed to see last year and both looked good. Add to that Newcraighall with their resources should build a strong team. Lothian West- Murieston romped their league last season so I expect to see them up there again, I’m told they have a very good young team and wouldn’t be surprised to see them have another good season. Edinburgh East - Lothian Vale, with the signings they’ve made. They will win this at a canter with not much resistance in the league. Uni could be the only team to get near them depending on what players they put to this team. Edinburgh West - The only league I don’t really know any the teams/players so pretty clueless as to who are the better teams.

Ones I had at St Bernard’s

Only one Iv seen announced anywhere is wee Jak at Lothian Thistle Hutchie Vale. I think big Livie the keeper may be going there. A few will be joining up with me next week when we get back for preseason.

I don’t know the boys you’ve mentioned but for the league they’re in, they’ve got some very good players that would play for most teams. Gizzy and Gogs both cracking players. Seen first hand with select team how good Gogs is and he will tear that up. Starting at the bottom, it will be a case of building year on year as they go and they’ve got a very strong base to work from and build on. Hard to get guys to drop to the bottom right away, at St Bernard’s we had to improve year on year as we went because simply couldn’t persuade the guys we finished up with to come and play the lower leagues.

I used to be all over the social media stuff with St Bernard’s but this year im just leaving it to the club accounts, which I don’t run, to update stuff. Just not got the time to do it anymore as it’s quite time consuming. Agree though, I love seeing all the new kits and signings, get a wee buzz for the season starting. Best time of year for me this, speaking to players, planning the preseason, sorting the pitch and seeing whose doing what.

No signings to shout about as of yet, when we get back together In a couple weeks and start getting the ones we want signed up il have a better idea of where we are at. Until they’re signed, I won’t count my chickens sort of thing because players can quickly change their mind when they see pound signs etc! We've got a tough preseason lined up for whoever signs though , including Sandys, Tollcross, Craigneuk, Pentcaitland and we are in a tournament in Bannockburn which includes Scottish cup finalists Eastfield and Milton AFC who are being taken over by the boys aye Stirling City I believe.

Haha you could try a wee bit harder than this. It’s pretty clear the deliberate spelling mistakes and nonsense is someone hiding behind a username and trying to mask their real identity and putting people off the scent!

Iv not signed anybody yet so technically nobody has left because they’re all unattached. I’m pretty relaxed about things, we will be in a good position and not needing to go rushing about to get guys signed up. If they want to be there, then they will is my outlook but I’m certain Doodey will be with us which is good for us because he’s an incredible talent and only going to get better.

Good to see. What is the working relationship between you, are they two completely separate sides or would players doing well for the “B” team be looking to work their way to the other team? Are they a younger side?
