Third time round I just asked the midwives if they'd breast fed they're own. Most hadn't!

I was working as a midwife when I had Cal (he'll be 17 this year) and I breastfed for 3 months.  I won't say it was easy though - he was 8 and a half weeks early and I had to express initially until his suck developed.  He refused point blank to use a dummy so pretty much used me as one - screamed all the time, never slept at night unless in with us.  Ended up at about the three month mark I couldn't take anymore... thankfully the anti-depressants kicked in about 3-4 weeks after we changed him onto formula.

  2. My wee girl was born this morning by emergency section. I will leave any more details than that for the good lady to tell you if she wants to but all is ok now and wee have a happy and healthy wee baby girl.

Congratulations xx  She is gorgeous  :)

I was taken in Thursday afternoon with reduced movements and they decided to induce. The drip creates the most horrific contractions which were every single minute. Eventually got an epidural (absolutely amazing btw) got fully dialated to find out baby in distress and back to back. Had to go for emergency c-section and lost 2 pints of blood. Eugh. So going to be here at least a few more days! Other than that it was great...

Sounds like you've had a bit of a time of it.  They do say it's a pain you forget...until the next time...

Enjoy every minute of it, I'm sure it's all worthwhile now  :)

  3. The only think worse than p***ks like that are p***ks that fill your kids with Haribo, tell them they're allowed to run about daft, get them hyper as f**k and teach them to say things like "Jimmy Savile's Under 5s' disco". Some folk are just cocks!

Wrong, wrong, wrong.  The only thing worse than that is leaving someone's living room covered in sand.  c***s

  4. The NHS have brought in a new online application system which is great because it gives you an online account and saves all your details apart from your personal statement so you don't have to type everything in each time. However, despite the fact that applications are dealt with centrally, all going through the one office who will have your contact details, including the email address you signed up with, they don't contact you unless you've got an interview. How difficult would it be to have a standard email fired out to non-successful applicants? It's incredibly irritating.

It only saves it for so long as well then it wipes it out!

  5. Got three tickets at 9:01 via Ticketmaster for Kilmarnock - so, so excited.

Cannot wait until my lad gets home to let him know I've bought one for him :) It'll be his first concert.

  6. A second opinion is exactly what I'm after. But after consulting with my GP and asking to be referred back to the original Grampian surgeon. I recieved a letter to say they wouldn't see me and any further consultation had to be with the Golden Jubilee where my op was.

The next operation would release this fluid which would hopefully relieve some of the pain. I don't actually know how much of the pain is related to the nerve damage to my toe

No guarantee then. Hard decision to make

  7. I was told on Thursday there's a high chance I'll need another op on my ankle having only had one done in December. The op hasn't really been a success and I'm probably worse off now than I was before. The seriousness of the next stage operation sounds pretty bad too. He was talking about having to break my Tibia to removed fluid :(

Sorry to hear that. Wondered how you were getting on

  8. Thanks for the reply Ayrgirl. A few weeks down the line and my big toe still has no upward movement itself and the same area as mentioned before is partially numb. The whole healing process has been a joke. I'm only in the past 10 days (thanks to private osteopath) able to start walking with no crutches and this isn't for long periods of time. The surgeon told me to start weight bearing as everything is fine. Tried that 4 weeks back and my ankle ballooned up twice the size.

My ankle still balloons if I'm on it too much even nearly 3 years later. I generally notice it after 3 twelve hour shifts in a row. I've only recently stopped sleeping with my ankle up on a pillow as well as I found that helped. I also get a pain across the top of my foot as I think at times I compensate and hold it funny when I'm walking in order to protect it - this is a bad habit I got into during rehab and I revert to it when I'm tired. Good luck with getting back on your feet.

  9. I recently underwent an operation on my ankle. For any medics, it was a right ankle arthroscopy and anterior cheilectomy. In essence what has happened was the lining covering my ankles had worn away so scar tissue has been used instead to protect the bones from rubbing. I'm almost certain that the nerve endings have been damaged as a result. 2 of my toes and half my foot are completely numb and feel like they are on fire. I'm seeing the surgeon in two weeks and the nurse assured me this week that it's nothing to worry about. Difficult not to worry though. Has anyone ever had anything similar to this?

Sorry for late answer, not been on in a while.

I broke my ankle almost 3 years ago - had a pin and plate inserted, pin has been removed but plate still in place. My foot/ankle feel numb most of the time and I was told that the feeling may never return fully. It's a strange feeling almost like scratching someone else's foot when it's actually mine if that makes sense.
