My mate asked a barman what was closest to Belhaven Best and was directed to the closest beer. When I asked what was closest to Corona, he said go to the toilet and lick the urinal

It's been there for ages and I agree with your ???? at the positivity!

18 year old me had a ticket to see the (almost) original band but couldn't afford to get to Milton Keynes. It's always been a big regret that I didn't go.

I wouldn't have gone in any case but I'll be going to see the Proclaimers that night. Guaranteed entertainment!

I loved how Coren had an empty wine glass in front of her as she sat looking relaxed and taking potshots at anyone who spoke!

I see the Petrofac semi-finals are to be played over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of November. Looks like our game against Rangers on the 14th will have to be shifted.
Div suggested on twitter that it could be played on the Scottish cup weekend two weeks later since both teams start in the following round!

The money I spend watching football every year could get me "44 tickets to see a band like U2 or Take That" or "0.1028% of Nadir Ciftci". I think I'll carry on watching football to be honest. It's a false figure though, because they don't ask how much we spend on beer, ching and hookers at each game.
It works out at £35 a ticket for those gigs. Does it include a time machine too?

The 'tin hat' on it for me was once again the Tartan Army glorying in failure. Chanting the manager's name, WGS getting the squad to pose in front of the crowd.....why?
Glorified friendly on Sunday and nothing more. I can understand people going if they've booked it, but the reaction wasn't what I would've expected.
I don't even blame the players as they're probably the best we have and the management only have those players at their disposal. The answer lies in the way players are developed at a young age really.
Anyway, no more international breaks this season and a Sons' game every week from now until April. Weather and cup excepted!

I was at last night's game and I feel absolutely gutted by what happened in the final ten minutes both at Hampden and in Dublin. I do agree with the travel to and from Hampden being a nightmare and I probably put up with it since it's only about four times a year. If that was every second week, I'd have chucked a few years ago. Getting to and from the rock is an absolute breeze in comparison.
As for the club v country argument, it's only ever happened once that I remember that the two were playing on the same day ( Hibs/Georgia last year) and due to family stuff the decision was out of my hands. I think I would favour club over country but only by a small margin due to the fact that the Sons play more often.
And my appetite for international fitba may be waning due to this week of football pish. I used to be a fan of all club football stopping for the internationals but now I get pissed off having a game on Thursday/Sunday and no Dumbarton game on Saturday like this weekend. If Scotland play on a Saturday, I have no objection to no Dumbarton game scheduled that day!

Great start for the boys this season.
2004 is the last time we began a league campaign with two wins - so when was the last time we had three consecutive league wins at the start of a season.
Now my earliest memories of Dumbarton seasons go back to the Kenny Wilson years at the start of the 70's - but according to my records you have to go back to the 1959-60 season when Dumbarton actually began with 4 wins on the trot in the league.
Fingers crossed for a repeat - mon the sons!
That was also the last time three victories were recorded.

We played Falkirk the weekend before Christmas last year, which was also on Alba!I see our August game with Falkirk is moved to a Friday night for TV coverage. Is this our first ever league game live on the box?
Not sure how I feel about this. Saturday afternoon for a part time side is ideal. Looks as though it could be a disadvantage

If it's being criticised, then it's being noticed. A bit like the Thistle mascot although I can't remember its name. Any publicity is good for the club!

I liked that you could queue for a pie and still watch the game at Boghead. Possibly the only thing I would change at DFS.
Whenever I get nostalgic about the old place, I watch a Shot at Glory!

Only three of the teams in the championship have the same manager as they had at the start of 2014/15, so a lot of teams are being built from a new manager perspective.

As good as Danny is, we still lost a shitload of goals this season. I also think we had good defenders but it was down to lapses in concentration and strikers that could take advantage of them. Without digging into previous posts, I'm sure people were happy when the likes of Graham, Linton, McLaughlin etc signed new deals last year despite us losing one goal fewer than we scored in 2013/14. We are in need of a new defence if we are to improve on the last few years goals against column. Thankfully Stevie Aitken seems to be doing something about this!hear hear, and that's been our major downfall in recent years, not the keeper

Ewings has had a few howlers but he can be a good shot stopper too. Ultimately a keeper is only as good as his defence!

Four seasons in a row. We could even win a challenge cup game soon.
Don't get carried away!
We looked certain to finish bottom when Murrinho took over. Amazing achievement to confirm a 4th (fourth) season in a predominantly full time division!

I remember having a drink with Alex in the Horseshoe the night before we played a cup tie at Ibrox in the nineties. His enthusiasm had me utterly convinced we were going to win! And the fact that he could reel off the team that won the Festival of Britain quaich appealed to the anorak in me! Rest in peace big yin!

I'm just waiting for ICT. Desperate for a cup game against them but no luck so far. I suspect Killie might be scored off your list next season. Without counting our chickens of course!
