Chasing VAR out of Scotland
Dons_1988 replied to HibsFan's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Did you use the phrase ‘you stupid c***s?’ If not, then that’s your first error imo. -
When did your team shite it big time?

Chasing VAR out of Scotland
Dons_1988 replied to HibsFan's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
AFC tried to phone me the other day. I missed the call as I was at work but the voicemail said my email had been passed up the chain to get the responses I was looking for and they would come back next week. -

I get where velo army is coming from. I always feel a little uncomfortable with them, purely because any applause feels a bit insincere. If it gives the grieving family some comfort I suppose it’s harmless, but they’re not really for me. -

Gartenman just isn’t very good. Plenty if endeavour but unfortunately his lack of size/physical presence means that he needs to compensate by being an intelligent defender and/or good on the ball, of which he is neither really. -

Yes, mathematically it is still possible. In reality, no. Does feel better having a bit of a gap over two teams and sucking Motherwell in. I did think we were shit for the most part today though so can’t rest on any laurels yet. -
Can also put me down for feeling absolutely nothing, good or bad, towards wales or the Welsh. Hal robson kanu’s turn and goal against Belgium though was a really iconic moment though.

Yeah, but only if you don’t say it out loud. Which you just did. Well done on relegating us for the first time in our history. -
I remember my first meeting with my dissertation advisor: ‘the key is to make it about something that really interests you’ ’well, I…’ ’no, not football. Do not make it about football’

Thats what I had in my head too. But happy to be corrected. I am going purely on memory. -
what's your Opinion on every spfl club
Dons_1988 replied to Brmiddleton4's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
At the very least an independent body should be set up to establish a clear set of criteria and order of importance to measure ‘my club is bigger than yours’. Longer term I’d like to see a government initiative to develop a formula or balanced scorecard to settle this debate once and for all. The people deserve to know. -

You’ll be shocked to know looking down my nose at how pathetic both clubs are is of far more interest than the outcome itself. -

Good to see resolution and compromise in one of the world’s many ongoing crises. There is hope for the planet yet. -

Yep, I remembered his st Johnstone teams and the way they played and that he paid cash money for Ricky foster and couldn’t have been more bored by the appointment. 10 years on folk seem to hate him so seems I was right -
The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23

I’d rather they just provided substantive information. I’m more miserable than most, so there’s a happy medium. But I always thought cormack talked too much about what he was going to do and what he wanted. That might sound wise after the fact, but fairly certain I’ll be on record on here saying it at the time. The case in point was there document about style of play etc, a garbage piece of work with absolutely nothing substantive in terms of delivery. Just a fantasy wish list of things fans like to hear. -

As someone who doesn’t cry about their lack of statements I do agree with you. But given the bedwetting about a lot of this I get why they went with a more intimate interview instead of a statement. Was mostly a big nothing though, a 2 paragraph statement could’ve provided the same level of relevant information. -

As this season is one that seemingly refuses to flush, I presume we will lose this and require me to keep watching this god forsaken football team between now and may. -

Right ok so the manager could have made some different decisions (one of which I highlighted in my original post re dykes) and things may have gone differently. Sure, we’re in agreement there. But is it worth the kind of hyperbole we’re seeing here? No, IMHO.

Seeing as ‘we don’t do friendlies’ is basically an exact quote from me, I’d be suggesting replacing ‘airily dismiss’ with putting in perspective. I’m not suggesting everything will be fine in Germany, because they may not be. But that is as true today as it was 6-12 months ago. What I basically said was that there’s no need to lose the rag over things we already knew about this squad, of which we learned nothing new last night.

I’m not particularly buying this as a great concern. It’s a run of games that started in September (I’m not counting Georgia at home and Cyprus away, they may not be beating Spain but not sure we can ask much more there). We’ve played the two favourites for the euros and a good Netherlands side, positives to take from those albeit disappointing, particularly England for overall performance. Two dead rubber qualifying games, the Norway game at home was a farce, no one cared. Last night is the only real howler in there but it happens. Maybe naive but I’m not seeing the ‘worrying trend’ stuff. I don’t think this side has changed much from the one that qualified comfortably.
