The currency "debate" before, during, and in the years since the indyref has always felt like the most tedious, round-in-circles and unwinnable aspect of everything surrounding independence. Own currency? It would sink. Euro? They won't let you in. Pound? You can't have it. Ad infinitum. That quote from Osbourne is very telling about what they really thought at the time of the indyref.
I guess you could criticise the SNP for not developing a more detailed post-indy monetary policy, but currency is only a fractional aspect of that. Currency tracks with a nation's wider economic health, not the other way round.
