  1. Took this game in last night. Thought Doune started well enough. Knocking it about but pennies dealt with anything pretty comfortably and grew into the game after 10 minutes or so. Once pennies got there passing going they looked dangerous. Missed a chance or 2 to take the lead and then scored from a corner to take the lead. Think Doune will be disappointed in the goal. All pennies after that. Scored 2nd just before half time that effectively ended the game. All pennies 2nd half. Should’ve added to there total. Doune didn’t really offer anything of a comeback which was disappointing though pennies were pressing them well. All in all very well deserved victory for pennies. Good luck in the final.
  2. There’s always a risk with teams moving league. Teams do it for a step up and to further the club. But a lot of the teams in the so called better leagues have msybe been going for longer and are used to a more competitive league. Also with a good committee behind teams they can survive times where teams maybe are struggling. Plenty of teams that have been going longer than Lesmahagow have moved leagues and folded I bet so if they feel it’s the right move for there club then that’s for them to decide. Fair play to them cause it is a step up. Hope it works out well.
  3. Big win for thorn yesterday against Cambria. Cambria can still go ahead of them but I’d rather have points on the board than 8 games in hand. Dumbarton can get close with there games in hand but they seem to be not quite as consistent last season. The bottom of the league anything could happen as teams have games in hand. Should be an interesting end to the season.
  4. Is it pennies vs Doune in the semi. Doune won it a few years ago I’m sure. Not sure how many of that squad are still there but them knocking steins out shows they are a good side. Should be a cracker. Steins would’ve fancied it. They’ve had a a couple of good cup results this season. Not on Saturday obviously.
  5. I’m not sure about new players. There manager left to go to steins though after the season had started . I heard they were struggling a little bit pre season but that was obviously just rumour. They’ve been about a few years now and seem a very well run club. Don’t see them taking many doings in the Cali so they seem a pretty solid outfit. Can’t be the easiest to get players to travel to Callander when there’s so many teams in the Stirling area.
  6. Got a feeling Callander might make it to the final. An improving side every year and you would have to say they’re on the easier side of the draw. Don’t think they’ll win it. Think that’ll come from the other side of the draw.
  7. Hearing no new clubs accepted into the Cali for next season. Not sure if none have applied or they aren’t accepting anyone due to the league being restructured.
  8. How many teams have folded now from pre season? Balmore, Symington and now eddlewood. I think a team folded in pre season in the premier. Any others I’ve missed. I think it highlights the need for the restructure of the league that’s coming. Also is there any word on teams joining the Cali league. I know Oban are moving to the central but heard nothing about any other teams.
  9. It’s gonna be a very good league the 1st division. EK will go up with either st Mungos or westerlands. Agree about dunblane. A bit too soon for them and probably won’t do them any harm spending another season at least finding there feeet. The other league is anyone’s guess who’ll win it. Cambusbarron a big name who have had a hard few years but seem to have a good team. Kilsyth favourites? Doune were a good team a few seasons ago but maybe rebuilding? Few others at the top of the league as well. 5 very good teams could be left that are at the top of the leagues just now. Add in teams like Viewfield who seem to making a huge effort to get back competing. Then the relegated teams. Gonna be very competitive.
  10. Would imagine cause of the frost
  11. Like this idea. Makes it really competitive. Especially division 1. Plus teams that maybe aren’t as good and every season maybe only have 2 or 3 teams they realistically compete against in the current set up would have more competitive games.
  12. Any report on how the game went minus the nonsense with the ref?
  13. Really annoys me when I here about amateur refs getting abuse. Yes we all like a moan and most refs will talk to you(there are a few who don’t but that’s not a crime) but let’s be honest these guys are up against it from the off. Trying to keep up with play and watch 22 players by themselves. Call offsides with no help and sometimes having to guess as there is no way they can know. We can’t play without refs.
  14. Any team lines or scorers?
  15. I’ve played amateur football since I was 17. I’m 31 now. Have 2 young kids. Work Monday-Friday with overtime quite regularly available at the weekends. When I was younger I would never miss my football for work and when I do work a Saturday now I usually manage to make my game although I can be late arriving. There has been the odd game the last year or so I’ve missed because I haven’t been able to get away but that’s part of getting older in my opinion. Greater responsibility’s. I can remember being younger and thinking it was crazy the older boys with kids missing games but now I’m in there shoes it is harder to juggle everything. But I make every effort to make my games. My Mrs brings the kids along if the weather is nice cause it’s great for them to be running about outside. But financially(especially this time of year) it is very hard to turn down overtime if you’ve got kids, mortgages, car etc to pay for. I’m lucky I can usually work then play football. A lot of guys not in that boat. But I wonder if younger guys these days are willing to do anything to play on a Saturday?
  16. How are teams/leagues doing in Perth/Dundee/Aberdeen? Obviously the west and east areas down here are well covered on here but never really anything from those areas except the odd Scottish Cup game. Be good to get some input.
  17. What about splitting it into north, south, east, west, tayside & Perth and central and having a set up something like the old junior set up.
  18. I heard the old dunblane thistle manager was involved in some way and had took a few of the players from the dunblane team the folded.
  19. Just saw on twitter Milton amateurs that D.Grant scored 2 for them today. Is that correct or just used the wrong profile?
  20. Who was away? Surely the management wouldn't allow this if youse were still in league 2? Would've thought players know not to book holidays for this time of year as it's usually the most important time in my opinion.
  21. Watched the highlights. Who was the big no.9 that was starting ahead of David grant?
