  1. So as it stands for next season we have signed up.

    Goalkeeper -

    Marc McCallum

    Defenders -

    Stuart Morrison
    Adam Hutchinson
    Matty Allan

    Midfielders -

    Mark Whatley

    Strikers -

    Josh Skelly
    Russell McLean

Waiting to here from the club on

Zach Paris, Kieran Inglis & Finn Robson.

i’ll be honest I’m quite content with that base of players that are staying, would have liked a couple of more but as stated above they didn’t show enough to show they should of been kept on.

Obviously improvement required in the attacking area but the seasons literally just finished, so need to get into panic stations.

Will be interested to see the type of player Ray brings in this year. I can personally see him try to revert back to the 3-5-2 formation that we used in the league cup last season. Bring in proper wing backs & I think that could work with a back 3 of Allan, Morrison & Hutchinson.

Will he stick to his guns and hope for local talent again? Or will he be clever enough to realise that strategy failed dramatically.

  2. Just three players left to confirm from last years squad now.

Zach Paris, Kieran Inglis & Finn Robson.  No opinion on Zach, he’s a back up that’s never likely to play. Hopefully the other two aren’t staying on though.

slightly disappointed with Thommo & Scally leaving can understand why though.

Brindley’s a weird one cause there’s some sort of player there but I’m not sure he even knows what position he’s meant to be.

Ross again a weird one has a couple of good games then goes missing for weeks on end.

  3. Gutted with Darren Whyte leaving, very good footballer just hampered with injuries unfortunately.

Roberto going down south is no surprise. Can’t say I’m that fussed about him leaving, granted he was a decent player just not good enough defensively in my opinion.

Actually baffling that we’re sticking with Ray and allowing him to do a full rebuild again this season! 🤦‍♂️

I don't think all fans think these players are world beaters but they will be decent to good players in a competent League Two squad. As previously mentioned, I fully expect them to join teams who finished above Forfar.

But supposedly we dump every single player except for Marc, Rusty & Matty who are under contract and we manage to get Morrison to stay. Do you think we'll sign 18-20 players who are all massive upgrades on what we currently have?

Not saying they folk are saying saying they are world beaters.

theres a couple still in the squad I would like to stay along with Hutchi, & Morrison

I’d like Thommo, Whatley, Scally & if we could get him Mykyta to stay permanently (which we probably won’t)
I have no real opinion on Brindley &  Inglis staying, as much as I don’t rate them to start they could prove to be useful squad players.

I’d also love to know what’s happened to Darren Whyte? He’s just completely disappeared.

  5. Mind boggling that some folk are bothered about these lads leaving.

Seb Ross played a few decent games but never really looked to be a good player, I’m sure he thinks he’s much better than he is, but in reality he’s a league two player.

Andy Munro been a good servant for the club always gives his all, has been decent this season but we need to improve in this area if we’re wanting to challenge for promotion.

Roberto Nditi has had some decent games again but he’s an absolute liability defensively, he has a great work ethic & effort but the he’s too slapdash of a defender for me; always caught out of position.

Josh Skelly the less said about him the better, I’m sure he was born offside, granted he runs about but Deary me he’s like a bull in a china shop with & without the ball.

Adam Hutchinson as said above by a couple of people would be the only one I would keep, he’s been solid all season. I reckon if I we could convince Morrison & Hutchy to stay that would be an excellent partnership in defence,

The amount of people who don't understand part-time football is made up of 90% ' headless chickens ' is hilarious. If he'd bothered his arse in the seven previous games he was involved in we'd have been well out of this scrap before now.

Without Morrisons goals we'd be gone, it doesn't mean he's this criticism free entity. To claim McLean is some sort of saviour is laughable, nevermind the 18 month contract on a proven p***k.

    Morrison’s goals have earned us 4 points…

7 points if you include him & Mclean scoring in the 2-0 victory at Clyde.

so we can add another 3 points to McLean’s as I was talking about sole goals to earn us points.

I’m not saying McLean is criticism free, far from it!
    also 3 of they other 7 games. He made a 2, 10 & 14 minute substitute cameo appearances……
I Just think he deserves a  bit more credit than he gets.  I’m happy with him for another year.  If we can get the service to him like today, he will score….  That’ll do me.

No, he's scored 7 goals but scored them in 4 games. But okay 👍

Without his goals in 3 of the games we’d be 7 points worse off. Sitting bottom.

He’s saved us with his goals. What a striker is meant to do. Yet he gets constantly ridiculed it’s bonkers.   Same with Aitken last season.  I’d take a goal scorer over someone who ‘ runs about ‘ every day of the week.

  8. Great cameo from Tyler again today, some lovely flicks & passes, when he came on we actually looked a threatening side, he was unlucky with his chance, not really sure what happened there 🤣

Rusty at the double again, mental Skelly’s been getting game time ahead of him.

  9. Imagine watching that game of Saturday and thinking it deserved to be anything other than a Dumbarton win.   Ray has his head in the clouds, has done for about a year now. Came in and made us better last season for about 8 weeks then we completely fell away again, should have really made play offs last season.  Might still make play offs this season but not the play offs that we’d of hoped 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Aitken has played his entire career to date in leagues 1 & 2. Skelly has spent the previous few seasons in the juniors. Hardly a fair comparison. Also Matty has essentially done a carbon copy of our 21-22 season. Scored a bunch until the new year. He has 2 goals in 4 months now.

the original point is that the blame should solely fall at the managers feet.

Skelly by all accounts was the 4th choice striker on the shopping list.

Let’s not forget Skelly hasn’t only been a junior player all his career…

im not saying that Aitken would be the answer either, just stating that the stick he got was mental. But I’d have him up front ahead of the options we do have in a heartbeat.

    Would you not keep Nditi?

Nah, he’s far too erratic of a defender. Just my personal opinion. I think defensively he’s too much of a liability, he gets caught out of position far too much, going forward he’s a little bit better but i just don’t think he’s good enough.

Anyone who believed Skelly was going to score plenty of goals (there were a few btw) when he signed needs sectioned.

Cannot fault Josh's efforts, but he's just not a league player, nothing wrong with that. Absolutely everything wrong with McKinnon bringing him in as the #9.

Imagine the stick Aitken would be getting if that was him every week…

look at what he’s went on to achieve..  the amount of stick Aitken got was absolutely mental.

  13. Let’s be honest the teams just not good enough. That’s the bottom line, McKinnon tried to ‘ local lads ‘ approach & it’s backfired dramatically.

we have just three players signed up for next season in Marc McCallum, Matty Allan & Russell McLean.
The only other players I would want us to keep would be

Adam Hutchinson(been very solid all season)

Mark Whatley(how Robson gets a game ahead of him every week is mystifying)

Craig Thomson(although recent performances haven’t been great, he’s clearly lacking confidence)

Stuart Morrison(arguably been our best player this season)

Andy Munro( keep him as back up, he has been pretty solid this season)

Daniel Scally (deserves a chance to gain full fitness and get a decent run in the side, if we can get a manager that’s willing to attack)

    The rest can go.
