I fully agree. Lack of a proven goalscorer up front could prove costly if the number of missed chances last night Is an omen for the coming season.  If anything were to happen to either (or both) Wallace or Smith then we are up the proverbial creek coz I can’t see where goals are going come from.

    prove me wrong please.

Re above! Tonight’s friendly East Fife 15 Burntisland Shipyard 0 and EF missed a barryload of chances as well. Still apprehensive about the upcoming league 1 season.

Tbh I think our squad isnt great at all bar the two new full backs in Williamson and McCann. The rest are meh, I think McKay will turn out to be another Durnan, Nesbitt and Mcguffie I think won't be consistent, Hetherington? and Ross who couldn't get a game at Cove. We still don't have a decent striker, Keena is injured again and Dowds I don't rate at all.( I wish you would take him back) Yes we may have spent money on wages, length of contract but we are also about 5 players short of better quality than what we have. We are now looking at a loan kid striker from Aberdeen who hasn't scored a goal and a rookie coach nobody really wanted bar the board and Holt. Car crash season again? Don't be surprised the divide between the fans and board is wider than ever.

I seemed to be one of the few that didn’t rate Dowds at New Bayview. He worked hard, huffed and puffed but his goals scored was very low for a main striker. For a big guy he was hopeless in the air, hard to remember if he scored with a header at all in his time. However we are so desperate for forwards that we probably would take him back. We just cannot rely on Kev Smith And Ryan Wallace to get into double figures for goals and that’s no allowing for injuries to one or both of them and midfielders such as Watt, Davidson, Slattery, goals from them are as rare as hens teeth. Difficult to look forward with much optimism.

The money flying about in League 1 is crazy and we've lost out on quite a few players already that are simply getting more from other teams.
I still think we can compete but top 4 is a distant dream and fans need to realise that before setting ridiculously high standards. I'd be very surprised if there are 2 or 3 teams with a lower budget than us. As it stands, staying in this league would be a good effort

    Spot on!!!!!!!

How many times have we heard the fact that "if you get the spine of the team" right then the rest can follow. Have we not got a reasonable "spine" in place with Mitchell, Balatoni, Gomis and Goodwillie, throw in Cunningham and Livingstone and this seems a pretty good starter??

Let us give them all a chance to prove themselves.

would rather your spine was including Doherty, Page and Jones!!!!!  all ex players....sorry ex East Fife players......

As I said last week, we've lacked a commanding, no nonsense defender for about 3 years now. But there's been some crazy money & deals handed out this summer, so we've missed out on a couple.

We need a decent keeper to replace Brett Long, a creative midfielder, who can score goals at set pieces to replace Scott Agnew (not sure McManus is that guy) & a striker to replace Hamilton's goals, even more so now with McGuire retiring (we were probably signing him 2 years too late anyway). That would just be for us as a club to stand still!

Hopefully we can address these with loanees, if not it will be a struggle.

Apart from the last window, the manager's recruitment has been decent, I'm hoping the last window was just a blip under difficult circumstances & he's not 'lost it'.

Yeh I have said that about a no nonsense defender for a number of seasons as well and yes we have missed out on a few due to money on offer. I am wondering about the reasoning for letting Craig Watson go and having Chris Kane as a trialist. Kane wasn’t too bad a defender but a bit erratic at times and picked up a few red cards and penalties against him down to his rashness at times.

I have also wished for a goalkeeper who would command his 6 yard box as I don’t think Long did that too well although a good shot stopper. We will see what Gallagher is like cos it looks like he will be no 1 choice!
No doubt that Wallace will take over the free kick duties. And yes I totally agree that we are very light up front with McGuigan letting us down. Wallace is not an out and out striker (although he will contribute with a few) and Kev Smith also not a box striker, haven’t seen enough about Sean Brown to see what he brings to the party.

All in all at the moment with the players available I think we are a bottom five team.

Are the rumours true of Goodwilly going too Darvel?

Do you flit from site to site dropping ridiculous rumours??? To all Clyde fans this guy has posted on East Fife site (and probably others) to say that manager DY is leaving to be assistant at Celtic. This guy needs sectioned.

    Team so far.

    GK's - Gallacher/..............?

    RB - Mercer/Murdoch           CB- Steele/Dunlop         LB - Higgins/Slattery

    CM's - McManus/Davidson/Newton

    Wingers - Dunsmore/Denholm/Watt/Swanson

    Strk's - Wallace/McGuigan/Smith/Wallace

Could do with another CB. Would like to see Higgins moved over to his natural position as left back again. Or maybe Mercer can be switched over to left back instead? Murdoch is a fine RB but Mercer could probably fill that role and open Murdoch to the possibility of moving back into CM?

Heard been after a few defenders but losing out on money offered!!!!!!

How do you know? Falkirk and Alloa have new squads and new managers, they might be shite, especially in the opening games. It looks quite an even league on the whole for me with no easy 3 points anywhere really.

Don’t know about that. What about Queens Park (H); Alloa (A); Cove (A) and Montrose (H)!!!!!!!!!

The second Czech goal gave me flashbacks to Ramsbottom vs Forfar. Granted the Czech guy had a lot more to do, but left me with the same disbelief and speechless.

If the club had your address you should have received an email with the details. Letters were posted out to those without registered email addresses. If you haven’t received either, drop a message to the club office office@eastfifefc.info

Thank you. I will do that.

  11. Existing season ticket holders have been contacted separately regarding the outstanding balance on the 2020/21 season tickets.

Looking back I noticed the above words on one of the Chairman’s reports. As I know I haven’t been contacted can any other existing season ticket holders confirm if they have.!!!!!

Cannot believe I am thinking twice about renewing but unfortunately I am. We are getting it drummed into us that the price is held at same level for last four years. After buying a ticket for a few seasons now despite the last 2 years I thought there might have been a deal on offer similar to the early bird for those supporters who have bought season tickets particularly the last 2 seasons and not had much return. As one who has always got a ticket early to take advantage of the early bird deal I Would be paying more this year than previously. Disappointed!!!

Probably has been placed on the transfer list given the fact he tried it out at stenny and they never signed him on a permanent contract. But it’s probably good for both parties in that sense, hopefully he can find a club at his level.

good luck to the lad, it just hasn’t worked out.

Probably due to the fact that he has one year left on his contract he cannot be released on a free transfer but would imagine that the club will let him go if a club comes along.

Gents, please forgive the intrusion. I'm writing a book, a follow-up to Lifted Over The Turnstiles that came out in 2018.

I have some cracking old pix of Shawfield, but want to check terminology with your older members.
What was the long, curved "shed" called that stretched so far round behind the goal?
    What did supporters call it?
    Steve Finan.

Don’t think they called it Steve Finan

He was at his best at centre midfield for us too. He may well have improved his fitness but when he left us and joined Forfar he wasn't fit enough or fast enough to play full back. Seems a bit of a strange one for me, but he's a top guy who will give you everything.

Didn’t he come to us at East Fife in between Dumbarton and Forfar for a couple of seasons but didn’t rate him at all. In fact I thought he was fortunate to pick up a gig at Forfar after us. Think he is lucky to be still around at this level.

    What?

You can probably compare Agnew to Wilkie as they play in similar positions and Agnew is streets ahead of Wilkie.

Thought I would get a couple of replies from Airdrie fans but didn’t think one of our own would take the bait??????🏌🏻 🏺🪅🎏
