Just bypass all of this talk and ring the Yogi phone. You know its coming.

If we get Yogi in I'll come and support Falkirk (I'm not committing to a ST ;) )

I also think AJ is a really nice guy and has modernised our club after JJ, however, I also feel he has run his course. The whole not engaging with the supporters thing is a hard one because he still live in Ayrshire I'm sure so he would leave his house at 7 to start the day and if he attending a supporters event at night he might not be home till 11 or 12 at night you can see why he might not fancy it as a regular occurrence.

I wonder about Jimmy Mac , Crawford and Pots as a trio.

Montreal, go to Montreal it's the best city in Canada (IMHO).  There is always lots to do, the nightlife and dining is fantastic and it is a beautiful city in general.  If you have 10 days you may be able to swing Toronto as well (it's about 5 hours from Montreal by train or car) but Montreal would be the top of my list.

Thanks for the advice I'm flying into and out of Toronto in early October and I was thinking of taking a few days in Montreal, are they really big on only speaking French as my French is pretty basic and would struggle if the locals don't like speaking in English.

  3. I have the option to go to one of - Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto. It would probably be a 10 day trip so staying in the city with loads to do is all I would be looking for jsut now anyone got any recommendations of the 4 cities, i'll be there late September early October :)

Cheers for that. We're going by ferry from Cairnryan. We have three full days and effectively a half day before the boat back. One of the hop on/off bus tours is definitely on the agenda and I'd love to see Stormont, the murals etc.

Has anyone been to the Titanic museum? I'd like to go but have heard it can take all day, which seems quite a long time to dedicate when we're only there for a few days and are toying with the idea of a trip to the Giants Causeway (which would take care of another day).

EDIT: I see the fish bar beside Kellys is one that had already been recommended to us so seems ideal.

Maybe use the bus as a way to get around as some of them have a tour guide speaking and the other is just an audio guide, The Titanic museum really can take a full day in you include the SS Nomad. It is, however, worth it could probably get round in half a day if you just listened to the audio guide and didn't read the information posters. I'm saving up going up the Antrim coast for another trip as I think I might want to spend a few days heading up there. Stormont only does two tours a day which is 11.30 and 2.30 off the top of my head (might be worth a check on their website) but to get in its airport-style security. Taxi Tour of the murals can take an hour or so.

  5. I've been to Belfast twice in the last 2 years, it's a fantastic city, are you getting the ferry or flying?

As others have said the Jail tour is fantastic as is the taxi mural tour which was completely impartial. I also went to the parliament and city hall tours as they are fantastic looking buildings and the politics of Ireland is fascinating, both were free and a good way to spend an hour or so. The bus tour really helps you get your bearings and its a 48 hour ticket so saves on what would be a long walk out to the parliament, however, I walked everywhere the rest of my time in Belfast, however, I was nearly stuck on the wrong side of the peace wall as its main gate shuts at night and I wasn't sure how I could get back out so had to call an Uber. The Ulster Museum is brilliant and you could easily spend a day in there just wandering around. I would also recommend the "Irish Republican History Museum" which is small but really interesting and opened my eyes to what happened not so long ago and despite its title, I think its pretty fair to the British.

I walked back from the Jail back into the centre of the city and went straight through one of the loyalist areas and there was no bother at all, in fact, everyone seemed entirely decent.

Had a few excellent meals in Belfast, but it depends on what you are looking for:

Kitch - excellent 'normal' restaurant I had the steak which was perfect - its also right opposite "5 points" which I thought was reasonable for a pint and one night I was there, there was a guy playing a goat he had turned into bagpipes which were a bit odd but there was a good atmosphere there.

Opera pizzeria - was a proper pizza (probably the best I've had outside Italy) however I took it back to my hotel room as they only have about 4 tables but the place is always rammed.

Kellys Cellar - I went there for a pint and a look around as its the pub where I was told the IRA was founded and they have some interesting posters on the wall about the history of the pub, this place seems to only be inhabited by locals and the pints were a decent price. there is also a seafood restaurant next door which was recommended to me but I didn't get a chance to try it.

Cuban Sandwich factory - I went in here for a bit of lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and price of the food on offer.

Crown Liquor Saloon - This is opposite the Europa (the worlds most bombed hotel) and I have never been in a place as busy as this, it took me at least 20 mins to get served however its a really nice place to drink and if you manage to get in during a quieter spell then I'm sure it would be great.

Holohan's at the barge - This is the most upmarket place I ate in and it's fantastic all set on the top deck of a small barge the place was really busy when I was there and I struggled to get a table however the food and service was top notch.

Anything else I'll be happy to answer your questions :)

For once here is an interesting post from dot net.

    1230_3736_Defending.jpg

So much wrong with our set up here. I wonder why they scored at the back post?

Utterly dreadful coaching and management, we can't get the basics right.

Not to distract from the coaching of this defensive set play but I don't think we have lost many goals from free kicks this season. From what AJ has said in the past each of the players is given a man to mark, if the Captain at centre-half cant organises the defence of a set piece then why on earth should be given the armband or even play in defence. I have no idea what Aird is doing he's neither tracking one of the runners lined up behind Talbot or stopping the player in the D flowing the ball in.

In all its a sloppy goal to lose

  7. Cool mate. Fair play to you, it annoyed me.
Line drawn under it from my point of view

Cheers pal, I really do hate infighting amongst fans as we all have a common passion for this club, if you do post on .net and happen to be ‘stevie’ as I’ve now had a look to see what’s going on there please feel free of offer my apology to those offended. :)
  8. "He's pretty well known so I don't know why we don't just ban him he was raging at the suggestion that any chant wasn't allowed"

"No idea his name but I’ve seen him at most matches guy amongst the "casuals"  perhaps someone at the meeting knew him? He had no interest in stopping those sorts of chants and like I said before he suggested moving stands if people didn’t like it."
Seems you had an agenda/perception against him before the meeting even started

I have no agenda against any of our supporters I think we have magnificent support which have done a lot of work not only to save the club but also show us as one of the great fan powers in Scotland.
Like I said everyone should be welcome at the meeting and had no idea who was going to be there or spoke to anyone before the event so I had no perception of anyone before the meeting kicked off
  9. Direct Quote  "what I found worrying was there was a guy who was genuinely angry or upset that the chant was being considered wrong and illegal suggesting anyone who didn't find the chants to their taste sat up in the family section"

Utter lies, and no explanation or apology even though it's appeared now its 3 websites with more than one witness saying it's total nonsense. Either stick by your claim that he was angry about people complaining about homophobia or say you got it wrong.

"By permitting homophobic chanting you endorse it, we all have a stake in cutting out this rubbish."

What did he say that permitted/encouraged or agreed with  it?

I do sincerely apologies however my opinion of what I heard through the shouts (not the man in question) alluded to the fact that there was light made of homophobic chanting, if this is not the case and you don’t think it was then I will remove all comments made of the matter.

I said that we all have a duty to stand up to homophobia not only in the stands but also in Scotland this was a general comment for all our supports who I thought were excellent today. I believe we do have that responsibility.

If you would like me to speak with the gentleman in question as you appear to know him I would be more than happy to do so as I would like to offer my apology in person. However the references appearing on more than one website have nothing todo with me and I can not control what other post on forums which I’m not on.

Feel free to PM me Man and let’s all rally round the club as we are on the up!

    Sorry once again,

I was also at the meeting last night and defending homophobic chants wasn't what he was saying at all. The conversation went to sort of go on about kids running about and people swearing where the person said well theres a family section maybe that would be better suited for you. The guy who initiated the conversation then got defensive and sort of said "why should I" (he goes with his grandchildren) and one of the SLOs starting shouting too  and it got a bit heated for about 5-10 second but it calmed down pretty quickly. He also doesn't run about with "casuals" he goes with his kids mostly and gets on another supporters bus which isn't the "casuals bus" which leaves from a different place when it does go. I think people see a type of jacket style/brand and jump to conclusions tbh

Internet witch hunts and trying to get peoples names is a bit farcical

It was someone who knew him that wanted his name put up on here, I said that nothing that was said last night would ever be considered sufficient of a banning order, however, I did feel it was immature to shrug the whole thing off by saying if you don't like it don't sit in the NW as that attitude should be left back in the 50's. if the guy who a few posters seem to know on here does go along with his family than that's great I'm sure he puts plenty money into the club and has followed us through plenty of barron times and I'm glad he and everyone else came along last night however, I felt there were a few people who probably weren't at the meeting need to realise how serious consequences of the chants could be. The guy who spoke up and said if the crowd joined in with the Dunfermline songs then the offensive chant would die out which was spot on.

I'm not sure how helpful it is to label any bus as a casual bus which I assume you refer to the lizzie, we are all just folk on a day out for a good laugh and a pars win there has been very little trouble from our fans to warrant the "casual" label.

By permitting homophobic chanting you endorse it, we all have a stake in cutting out this rubbish.

    Decent summary that, cheers Adam.

I also find it hard (but sadly not all that surprising) that at least one stupid old c**t thinks there’s nothing wrong with homophobic chanting.

I like the idea of a scoreboard at EEP. No idea why but it’s something I’ve wanted to see for a while.

As soon as I saw safe standing mentioned I knew the issue of funds would halt it for now. It would be absolutely brilliant if we could get that installed at some point though, especially in the NW.

He's pretty well known so I don't know why we don't just ban him he was raging at the suggestion that any chant wasn't allowed. I, on the other hand, hate a scoreboard something about it really annoys me as football never produces a score large enough to forget although a clock would be useful. Safe Standing will be a goer but as a long-term project I think it would be in the NW but perhaps a section at a time I hope it happens in the next 5 years but that may be ambitious.

  12. Quick update as promised:

Main topic of conversation and the most heated as people complaining about the homophobic chanting at the recent match the board said the police had had no complaints but would review the match to try and take action,

Ross reiterated what was said earlier in the season that Dunfermline "would never support" colt teams and that a number of things the SFA or the SPFL had tried to push through or have pushed through have been done exceptionally poorly which I think we already knew that tbh. I was going to ask but someone jumped in front of me

Also kudos to the Morton chairman who went in and sat with the Morton fans the ensure that there were no chants or singing about Dean Sheilds and I don't think the club was willing to comment on the other matches played in January but did mention that there was crowd trouble in the away end at both matches.

Allan Johnstone has been setting up links with 5 teams in England with a view to set up strong links for loan players either in this window or certainly in the summer window, no teams were mentioned however as we have played both Newcastle and Sunderland this season already I don't think anyone would be surprised if we were linking with them.

The catering in Charlie D's and legends was brought up and the club at considering winding down the food sales at the income is marginal however they were talking about bringing in a hot plate into Charlie D's to stop the need to the door which joins the two bars being open and stewarded.

'Safe' standing or rail seating is actively being looked at by a steering group and the club are happy to support it in its early stages however may not be able to stump up the funds which would require more fundraising and the group weren't happy to be fundraising at the same time as the lift fund as they felt that was more important to the club, at this time.

I asked if the club ha looked into offering discounted tickets for Premiership clubs season ticket holders on their winter break and said the SPFL had asked championship clubs to offer free tickets for U12's (which we already do) however the SPFL only advertised this minimally and only a few weeks before instead of having it in every premiership teams programme .

Over the next 2 years, the floodlights will be renovated and a scoreboard will be installed at EEP as part of us hosting the Ladies European Championship (or some other women's football tournament) Also soon we will be shooting the pigeons that live at EEP (yes that really was discussed)

Think I have summarised about everything it was a good turnout tonight and some lively discussion, safe to say the folk who moan the most were nowhere to been seen and as I come away from every meeting with Ross I get the feeling the club is in a better place than the last time I heard him speak. Nicky Clark didn't have to pad his scoring record with goals against youth teams and non-league numpties either.

Could anyone that's able to head along to tonight's meeting let us know how it goes? Just a brief summary would be lovely.

Yeh will try and give a brief rundown of how it goes I'm going to ask if there has been any change of thought about Colt teams

  14. Somehow I burnt out my windscreen washer pump and the fuse went (i tried that first) and i was quoted £80 for a new one including labour are they having me on because they are decent guys at my local garage but it seems steep.

Still trying to figure out how I burnt out its motor :(
