  1. Its definitely a quandary, who knows how the whole debacle will end.

Celtic, Utd and Cove have practically won their leagues, and deserve their titles, with division 1 still to be decided. God knows what happens to the relegation spots. For once, I wouldn't want to be in the hot seat deciding upon this, sod that.

It's called tactics, which any well run club would beable to pull off. One of the back three moving forward during play. Quite amazing isn't it. Theres not a single complicated piece to my words.

I accept we're not a well run club and our professionalism is amateur.

I'd also suggest its beyond the limits of the average Dundee fan. 'Kamara's shite, McGowan is twice the footballer', 'Kerr gives it his all' etc etc.

I'm not a gamer so your Football Manager comments indicate you're one of the fans who wouldnt know football if it hits them in the face. Incidentally it hits you in the pus at Dens Park and you're clueless.

    It is what it is.

    Thank you.

Tactics, that you yourself said wouldn't work, so thats a bit silly isn't it?

If youre replying to me, and trying to generalise about the average fan, that just makes you look a bit silly again. Tar me with things Ive actually said, not generalisations that you think backs up your point. If you can find anything like that, then fair enough, otherwise, whats the point.

The 'Im not a gamer' comment makes less sense than your average post. You don't have a clue about how we can play as a team, so maybe if the ball does hit you in the head, it might knock some sense into you. But probably not.

Nobody would be playing as wingers. I'd have McDaid and Crankshaw narrower and allowed to roam slightly between the areas close to hemmings, whilst linking up with Dorrans who was brought in to find the right passes to create attacks (McPakes words).

What central midfielders do Ayr possess that will allow them to outpass and run all over Dorrans and Byrne? Maybe my knowledge is lacking.

If we had a coach that knew what he was doing McGhee would beable to step out and allow Dorrans to push up further at times.  McGhee could even mark one of the runners from midfield which would allow Berra and Forster to deal with the striker.

The formation could work easily but McPake doesnt have the nouse to pull it off.

    Thank you.

A hell of a lot of dreaming, wishing and frankly downright nonsense in that post.

This is real life, not Football Manager with the editor being utilised.

    Explain,please.

    Thank you.

Playing wingbacks, and wingers doesn't work, its incredibly unbalanced and would be a disaster.

Playing a 523 formation that you recommend wouldn't work.

Playing Byrne and Dorrans in midfield would be a terrible idea, and allow Ayr to dominate possession and give them a free run.

I cant think of any team that would line up like that.

The team I'd like to see. Cut out McGowans slow play and Cammy Kerrs years of pish.

    Thank you.

Its amazing how different peoples opinions on the game could be, that team would get absolutely ripped apart in midfield, it would be a monumental mauling of epic proportions, even McCann and McIntyre would look at that and think, nah maybe thats no use.

The last thing Nelson has been is a goal threat. Hopefully he up’s his game to what we saw last season.

Oh, I completely agree, but midweek it was him or nothing, and on Saturday by all accounts there were no goal threats in the team.

We rely purely on the one, or occasionally two strikers in the team, the midfield, and wingbacks offer practically no threat. Thats where I think the team is set up horribly wrong.

Not conceding is great, but we have scored the third least amount of goals in the league, we still have a negative goal difference, for me, these are both criminal.

The only time Dorrans is behind the CB's is when we have the ball. He's not playing as a defender. It's a clear instruction for him to drop deep and take the ball as our playmaker, primarily because our CB's themselves aren't capable of playing that role, but also because it allows the FB's/WB's to push right up the park.

I think our biggest issue is the slow build-up, but that's clearly the way McPake wants us to play, so that being the case, having your best playmaker dropping deep is perfectly normal for all teams across the globe who play that style. It doesn't work in this type of league, so for that reason alone I'm not a fan. Dorrans is only doing what he's being asked to do.

    Fair analysis.

Deep playmaker spreading the play to attacking wing backs is a tactic some teams use, but I don't see us doing that. Whatever we are supposedly trying, it doesn't work, and the midfield balance is all off IMO.

    Because Byrne cant.

Theres been times when Byrne wasn't playing, and Dorrans has been deeper than the centre halves.

You cant blame Byrne for everything. Dorrans was an attacking midfielder, and a. pretty good one at that, we shouldnt be signing him and letting him take the easy option and sit back and defend. If we play Byrne, McGhee and Dorrans, then he simply needs to be up the park, not poncing about in defence, thats not his job, if Byrne and McGhee cant get it right, then McPake fixes it, not Dorrans.

I think Byrne is more the issue here, he is slow and always imo a passenger, with Dorrans having to cover for him, it doesn't give him the freedom he needs.

I don't like Byrne, we play better with him out the team.

Why does Dorrans need to play as a 3rd, 4th or 5th central defender, he should be further up the park, but he decides to drop back. Im not a fan of Byrne, but I wouldn't blame him for Dorrans being what he is.

Dorrans imo is definitely worth a game. Today was horrendous conditions with driving wind and rain across the park making things very difficult and McGhee looks more than decent in the defensive role in midfield. We were better today with him on the park than when he was substituted at halftime. Tuesday that midfield you quoted created enough chances to win 2 or 3 games.

But theres no goal threat from anyone in the team apart from Nelson midweek, or him and Hemmings today, if they have an off day, we are screwed. I just think the team is set up appallingly, midfield is terrible IMO.

But the games all about opinions....

  10. Im interested in regular watchers opinions, is Dorrans worth a game, or is he playing because he is McPakes mate? Apart from one goal, and a couple of decent passes, he seems like a complete passenger to me, thats. 21 league games for him, and I think he is a massive flop.

We play a midfield of McGhee, Byrne and Dorrans for two games, and get no goals, and its no surprise.

We are unbeaten in 5 games, yet my opinion of McPake sinks lower game by game, we are as dull as he is. (I admit, I just don't like him, so am biased now)
