Wardrop - Not entirely lost faith but got a tonking of Willie Gibson last weekend and didn't make the squad against Montrose.

Quitongo - Some will disagree but useless to me.

    Frizzell - Not played, injured

Easton - also been injured but came on as a sub on Saturday. Clearly talented and our big hope.

Gallagher - Average but none of our strikers can be judged due to lack of service.

Agnew - Needs to hang up the boots, legs have gone.

Murray - the swallows are sharpening their beaks

Don't disagree with any of this, I was a bit worried about our signings and shot down as not giving them a chance  (not on here). Other than the Motherwell game, I've seen nothing to change my mind. Not sure why we decided to raid Dumbarton to build this season's team and have zero faith that we'll get a result on Saturday, but we live in hope.

I'll pick and choose my games I think based on recent performances, results, and whoever is fit.

The quality of the squad is questionable, and blows hot and cold as we have seen the last couple of games.

Don't mind forking out to see a winning team. What we have however is an average team (and yes, I will quibble over a couple of quid on stuff like this!)

I’m the same about the quibbling - keep hearing about all this ambition but as I see it, the teams that actually have it will pass us by soon. Fed-up shelling out for worse than bang average league one hoofball led by IM, peppered by the odd decent run/Falkirk’s arse collapsing again.

  3. Our home form is so woeful and our general performances so inconsistent, I’ve absolutely no idea who might come out on top.

Assume we’ll get a chance to see Murray’s preferred line-up if Paton is back from injury but no one can ever predict with any certainty  what is going to appear on the team sheet. The man spends too much time inside his own head.

Wholeheartedly agree. With the games coming thick and fast and our lack of structure around Murray it's a difficult situation - it's not like we can bin the manager and appoint his assistant as caretaker!

That said we're the only team in the division with 0 points from 9 since the restart, we're all over the shop defensively (you don't tend to win games if you concede 2 and we've done that 8 times in 18 this season) and aren't scoring enough goals. We've also only kept the same starting eleven back-to-back once all season and I'd expect that to continue with Crighton/Turner returning.

I've generally backed the manager, I think he's been dealt a difficult hand since the start of last season for various reasons and now looks very isolated with a team that doesn't seem to be his own - but he's got a hell of a job on his hands now. A win tomorrow is a must.

I struggle sometimes (and this isn't aimed at you) to understand this idea that the team is not his own, probably down to the lack of transparency over how things have been carried out with agents etc.

He's been here long enough and the core of what we have is about 2/3 seasons old now and some pre-date him. He should have had a good basic structure and style of playing that we can identify and that we just needed to add some quality to and we simply don't - unless you count blootering it over midfield, long throws, half-time team talks that turn us into a liability and panicked substitutions after we go a goal down..

Overall that core we had are just not performing and those brought in not good enough and others appear to be undroppable. I don't care how well you train, you must do the job on a Saturday or make way. And the manager has to be able to get the best out them and I don't think he's capable of it. Undecided on tomorrow night. Don't think I can stomach it.

  5. People can only guess what is going on behind the scenes BUT another loss or even a draw tomorrow night must be addressed. We are in publicly back the manager now or sack him territory . You need someone that is the public face to front up to this stuff, like SM used to do - you cannot take money from the fans for streams, merchandise, the lottery and season tickets and hide away. They’re accountable here and fans need to hear something. You have to fill the silence or others will do it for you.

  6. I think most people on here are aware about where our squad limitations lie but it’s Murray’s job to get the best out of them and fundamentally I don’t believe he is up to that job. I’ve always been struck by the visiting/away teams that I have watched and noticed just how well organised they are compared to us. It’s been a hallmark of all his sides. Sadly at this level you’ll never get the team of your dreams so pull your finger out you a**e and get the best out what you do have. Stop having blind spots towards certain players or set-ups.

As someone else has pointed out, I don’t think we’ll see him gone before the end of the season. Let’s just hope the damage isn’t done by them as right now it’s balanced on a knife edge  as to what direction we might end up looking in.

  7. Listening to his post-match interview he does comment a lot on the relative youth of the team contributing to the inconsistently of performances and I do have a little bit of sympathy for that position. However, I completely understand why people are so utterly fed-up. We knew what Edinburgh City would offer up and they did it very well today, but we had no answer and that to me is down the manager and the set-up. If this isn’t going to damage us longer term in the league, we need to get a couple of more experienced heads into the middle of the park to help them.    The football keeps me going through this lockdown, as bad as it is at times.

  8. Wow, footballs mental eh! Macca lazy, obviously I can’t comment on his time at Airdrie, but this season for us, he’s up there with 1 of the fittest players in the team, along with always sticking in a shift. Can only recall 1 game at home quite close to the start of the season where he was a bit stinky, still not lazy, but just a bad day at the office. Every other game, he’s been excellent. 100% my POTY, so far.

Yup - clearly wasn’t the right fit either with us or with him. But then again, most players seem to do better when they leave us 🤣

I did think there was a better player in there than I saw.

  9. Best fullback in the league it’s that simple

He struck me as a lazy sh*te when he was with us, so fair play if you’re getting something out him that we couldn’t.

However due to aforementioned being a lazy sh*te, I don’t miss him. McCann is a great prospect and I’m enjoying watching him play in the diamond. Everyone is happy.

  10. Always thought Millar was the big loss for us and big gain for you guys when you took him, Page and Wilkie back in 2017. He's a cracking player that probably won't get noticed much by opposition supporters as it's not always obvious just how much he's giving to the team unless you're watching him every week.

I’ve been guilty of this but really starting to appreciate what he brings now.
  11. A lot of posts on Facebook about what went on on sat ,although abuse is not acceptable anywhere it really has caused quite a stir ,will it put fans off coming ,I would not think so ,as the fan base is mostly the diehards ,if they do stop coming we are in serious trouble ,lack of fans and lack of noise means the least thing can be heard ,after all it is a football game not a Sunday school outing ,Cursing and  swearing is not right ,but it not just started on sat ,would welcome every one laughing and cheering every sat  but that's not going to happen they way we are performing on the park ,so if you can just give us a bit more on the park  you will find the shouting at team and players will stop, just like it has done for a very lot of years it's football .

Bit of shouting and swearing is OK in my opinion - most people know where the line is and don’t cross it. I’m prone to the odd oh FFS but do not abuse the manager or players.
  12. I don't want to be pedantic but I am waiting with bated breath for the comments from the players and management on social media channels regarding the family section, as stated at bottom of the statement on the official site.

If the club has any kind of common sense they won’t bother, I don’t think being spoken down to by management and players will do anything to diffuse things. Not sure why the club is set on driving a wedge between itself and the diehards that still remain...

  13. A lot of the reactions are a bit OTT - but then I fully expected it if we didn’t win such is the expectation (again) on this season.

It’s disappointing and don’t really understand why we sign players for certain positions, don’t play them and then play others in their place. Clearly the tactical wizardry here goes over my head.

I keep going back to that first half against Thistle as I didn’t see Hamilton match. What I saw gave me such a lot of optimism. There is a much better team in there than Saturday showed. It’s game one, I’ll see how I feel after 10.

But he could start by putting some pace back into it.

  14. I think his final season probably clouded a few fans' views of him, because the first season and a half was sensational. Sure we sometimes took a battering - but we stuck five past both other part-time teams in the league and four past a Hamilton side who won the playoffs. He would just chuck everything forward relentlessly to try and score more than our leaky defence would concede. It was great fun.
Bring Back Paddy Flannery will back me up here.

    That’s OK - I believe you 🤣
  15. Lolwhut In his last season (in a league with Rangers/Hearts and Hibs) we played pretty defensively - but stayed up comfortably. In the season and a half before that it was all out attack. We scored 65 and conceded 64 on our way to 5th in the Championship, playing some of the best stuff I've seen from a Dumbarton team.

I know a few and that’s what I was told. I prefer your version, it’s been hard for us to judge without him having his own team.

That’s actually been a criticism levelled at him from elsewhere on this forum. He’s the man to keep you up but not win a league. I like Ian Murray by the way, and I think he has the team he wants now.

Good luck with your season [emoji1303]

  16. Notice the trust has certain mouthpieces while more prominent members say very little.

I have to agree that after a summer of briefing the papers etc, I cannot see how there can be a proper relationship anymore.

How can you if you’re worried the next thing you say will land on the Advertiser’s desk - and that’s just for starters.

The damage seems to be irreversibly done. The club has worked all summer throughout this to deliver a new team, and structure etc despite attempts to be dragged down.

We’re better set-up than we have been in years for the league and I have no agenda other than an absolute desire to see us do well again.
