  1. Glad to get that second goal and loads of good attacking, but weird finishing.
Looking forward to the behind the goal camera for all those stramashes.
Was relieved at their "goal" being chocked off and wondered if Smith was offside in that first half "goal" which he definitely needs.
Thought both Devennys were good today and Frizzell is pure entertainment. Need to be a bit sharper in some defense areas.
    Pleased at being top.

Felt like the game should have been finished long before it was given the chances we were creating. Giving ourselves a lot of work to do it over 90 mins if we’re not able to be more clinical. An entertaining 90 mins where I don’t think Alloa really offered too much TBH.
  2. Sad state of affairs with the Supporters bus from Cue Here. Given the quote from the QOTS Supporters liaison about “police intelligence”, anyone wonder if bus companies have been told not to give Airdrie fans a bus?

I doubt every bus company in Scotland has been warned off offering 30/40 airdrie fans a lift. That’s a bit tinfoil hat to me. We’ve not exactly made headlines for the right reasons lately.
  3. Hopefully everyone involved Saturday is recovering well from the exhaustion of the conditions (us in the stands anawl, not just the players, that heat was oppressive stuff) and that we can continue this good start come the weekend.
Nobody seemed to pick up any knocks so, with a fair wind, we should be able to go same again. Presume McMaster is getting closer and closer so that will make a difference to our options in midfield, but like everyone of course I'm eager to see the squad complemented. As mentioned previously though, we were still in the market end of September last season and most teams are likely to be in a similar boat to us, albeit yes Queens did have a larger bench than we did.
I'm still happy to wait for quality and hopefully keeping the positive results going helps us all stay patient. I don't think anyone is going to go on 20+ unbeaten runs this season, so despite Dunfermline having the perfect start, I don't expect anyone is running away with it this year.
Alloa haven't had the best of starts and we did well against them last season, but they'll be wanting to bounce back after a bruising scoreline. Hopefully Gal gets another tap in opportunity or two. 3 goals already. Desperate for Jamieson to get his goal, he has looked excellent, and Frizz is playing so so well. He got an absolute screamer of a goal in our first game versus Alloa last year, so if he wants to repeat that, that'd be just fine (Gal also got a tap in that night, funnily enough).

I hope we do tie up the remaining signings sooner rather than later. Need a bit more quality in defence if we’re to play to our potential as a team. Ideally another centre half. I prefer Watson on the right wing. I don’t really want to see just more loans or teenagers. Rhys has mentioned two coming in during a couple of interviews but still waiting. We got away with it on Saturday.
  4. It ought to go without saying that wearing a fucking Klan outfit is utterly moronic and despicable, no matter what 'context' anyone chooses to frame it in.
It really is bonkers to think anyone would have thought differently as recently as 2006, nevermind today. Absurd and depressing and nobody but nobody should justify it. Take away the fact some rag fictionalised a motive behind it, that makes no difference to the heinous fuckery of actually doing it at all.
Can only hope anyone who did that has grown leaps and bounds as a person in the intervening 16 years, and if not, I hope they don't come to our games, or vote, or take any meaningful part in society frankly, because that's just fucking rank rotten conduct and utterly, utterly brain-dead.

Doesn’t seem to matter what some elements of our support do. There’s always someone willing to try and excuse the inexcusable. Never understood what is to be gained from damaging the club you claim to support in this way..
  5. Lawyers doing what lawyers do. Throw as much shit at someone as you are allowed to get away with, hope that some sticks and then make all sorts of defamatory allegations against witnesses in your summing up.

If they can make it seem that there is indeed a history of racist behaviour amongst Airdrie supporters then it stands to ground that it's not beyond belief that it continues to occur therefore there may indeed have been racist abuse directed at the claimant. Then the lack of any kind of record of an "investigation" may indeed make a sympathetic head of tribunal agree that poor wee Rico was indeed discriminated against.

Yeah I think the difference here is that this isn’t a criminal trial. It’s a employment tribunal and it’s terms should only be what happened during the terms of his employment and whether he was discriminated against. Hopefully it wraps up soon and the judgement gives a much clearer picture of what happened during that few weeks as right now it’s just selective media snippets.
  6. The ramifications of this have serious consequences for PH and the club. What if PH is found guilty of racism, would he then be deemed a fit and proper person to run a club? Would he just sell up, saying feck this?

Legally I’m not sure anyone can be found guilty or not guilty at a employment tribunal - it’s not a criminal trial. It’s more about whether someone was discriminated against and settling loss of earnings.

Maybe someone can clear that up that knows more.
  7. What is the club though? Is it the entire staff? Does it include the fans? (Tommy Robinson paying into a game can't possibly be attributed to the Club, directors or staff)
Is this heading down the strict liability route?

All way over my head I’m afraid - my own view is just to let the case come to its conclusion and respect the findings regardless of what they are. If there are serious learnings to to take from that, then they should be implemented.
  8. Absolutely the failings of Ballantyne and his cronies for not dealing with these incidents but that is the exact reason why these incidents have been brought back up. The club/fans/community didn’t deal with them then and subsequently haven’t dealt with Quitongo’s claims either which in turn, paints a picture that Airdrie are quite happy to accept racism amongst the fans. If they had dealt with Quitongo’s claim appropriately then there wouldn’t be a court case in place.

I honestly don’t think saying “He wasn’t the owner at the time/ the past has nothing to do with this/ these things happened years ago” helps anything at all and in-fact makes us fans look even worse. Accept that there’s probably some seriously scummy fans amongst us and do your bit to call it out rather than deflect it.

There are two things going on here. The case against PH personally and the case against the club from my understanding. I was just referring to his personal role in those incidents. And for it’s worth I did and do speak out on behaviour of this kind and have been subject to targeted abuse as a result.
  9. You can't be surprised by the way the prosecution is conducting their business surely? It's basic stuff. Of course those instances have absolutely nothing to do with the Quitongo case but if you're trying to prove the 'defendant' is racist you obviously bring up previous examples to sway the decision.

I broadly agree, although I do think it’s worth saying that PH was not owner of the club or involved with the club during those incidents so he shouldn’t be held accountable for them in terms of the case against him. Those are the failings of Ballantyne and Co if they weren’t dealt with properly.
  10. I don't think the comparison with Murray's time at Airdrie is the most valid. I think there are more parallels to be drawn with his spell at St Mirren.

That’s the comparison I’d draw TBH. I felt we were more an exception to the rule but also there was something in that group of players that just clicked. That was more the magic of last season than IM.

You do need to give him time though.

  11. As seen by the games against cove at the end of the season, there is always potential for one off games where we can attract a very decent support. However, can’t see it being that high every week, even with a successful team. I reckon the max is about 1k. Hard with the old firm on the doorstep

Agree: the main stand was absolutely bursting for the play off game but once again we fell short. Every time the fans really come out for airdrie, we blow it.

Also easy to forget that we’ve been in this league for ten years. More than enough time for anyone’s support to dwindle away as people get absolutely scunnered with it.

Algeria is so horrendous that he's making me miss Dennon Lewis!

We've had the best of the play but created next to nothing.  Airdrie are atrocious compared to last season but managed to score with the break of the ball against the run of play, I guess that's all that matters though!

Nesbitt is a waste of a Jersey, Morrison had 4 shots straight down the throat of the keeper and Yeats is absolutely wasted at right back, his poorest game so far imo.

Burrell and Oliver on for Alegria and Nesbitt please?  Also, with at least a couple of minutes wasted due to the flair, how come the ref blew when the clock had barely hit 45 and we had a corner?!

  13. Mochrie, who ourselves and Falkirk were supposedly in for, is Dunfermline-bound. Still think our starting 11 is pretty much as good as any other 11 in this league, but I think most neutrals would look at that Dunfermline squad and see it as the strongest in the league.

I’d have anticipated seeing a couple more experienced players in the door by now. I hope this lack of depth doesn’t bite us in the backside with this run of games in august. Dunfermline and Falkirk both adding this week and we’re still chasing shadows. Of course whether their additions are any good has yet to be seen.

Been a member of club 1924 since it first started. Never got any email, never even got an email about the tie either once hearing about that. Really disappointed.

Do you normally get emails from The club? Might be work checking your junk mail or make sure you haven’t unsubscribed somewhere along the way. I don’t usually get club 24 emails but did about this event. That’s where they handed the ties etc out.
