you guys keeping kurtis roberts he looked a cracking player in the making

He has signed for the mighty Airdrie,   that's good you rate him highly,    if it's any consolation i think Clyde could be next season's dark horse in league 1,  good signings  especially wide players and Saint Daniel at the helm,  do not ask about our Hybrid system i do not know how it is to work and I don't think the club do yet either.

Yeah agree with that. Hope he does well but was really disappointed with him last season. Hopeless for most of it.

Well that's us padded out the squad with the part timers,   There is nothing we have signed or resigned that makes you think the new season will be any different than the last umpteen seasons...    We still need a minimum of 8 better QUALITY full time  players  to compete and get to the playoffs.

  3. Getting back onto the here and now,    that's another rival signed quality Part Timers Forfar signing Jordan Kirkpatrick, and relegated stenny signing Liam Buchanan.   Both of these players would have improved our team greatly..... Pre season training starts in 4 weeks,  not panic stations yet,  so far nothing to get excited about...   I would expect a statement of intent soon on the playing front, especially with season ticket renewals around the corner.

  4. Well done on your deserved playoff victory,  never been to Broadwood since you beat Airdrie about 12 years ago,  Pat Clarke getting the winner that day.. Clyde have a good manager and a somewhat unexpected United support,  which you could see the players respond to, something which is sadly lacking at Airdrie.    . League one is a funny league, we have struggled year in year out with good players other teams the same,  If the players keep up the energy and roll with the punches next season you could do all right.   Well that's our New Years game sorted out anyway.  Good Luck and welcome to the seaside league.

I was at it and it was a fair turn out in number terms. I missed last year in Stadium and I suspect more were at the one I went to 2 years ago. As said David Hutton/Josh Edward got the awards and stressed that they were also disappointed at missing out/not achieving what had been sought. The highlights of the evening were seeing most of the 1975 Cup team  whilst players of a later era were there as well. There was a good Q/A with the 75 Cup team and manager Mr McMillan.  It was a tribute evening to Ian who spoke of his 60+ years involvement with the Club.George Caldwell and Norrie Anderson inducted into the Hall of fame with Norrie saying more about how much he valued his time here until Ally Mcleod sent him on his way ( only to reappear 6 months later as Ayr boss!) .  The meal itself was very good and the Bar was always busy!  It managed to avoid the sense of the differences between the Trust and Board.

Any signing rumours ,  will Hutton resign surely someone asked him.

I felt that Ben McKenzie was absolutely shit at us, and not any better at Airdrie. I don’t feel that he would push Brett any more than Terry and McDowell did.

If he strikers Duggan and Mackin surely the only likely targets from that. Jackson will stay at an Angus team I think. Rest would be an unreal coup and great show of intent if we got one as you say!

To be fair Ben McKenzie did fine at Airdrie,  Came to the club when Scott Gallagher blew his knee in the first league game,  his replacement David Hutton came in and did ok, then he got injured and Ben played a good number of games and was arguably better than the two before him,  The one notable mistake was a poor kick out against yourselves, and  the rest of the season was spent riding the pine..

+1 for Jackie Stewart as worst manager with Bill Munro as a close second, best again Alex McDonald with Bobby Watson in 2nd Spot. (Ralph Collins was in charge when I started attending Airdrie matches)

Thanks for your input,  but you are talking pish,  the seaside league sounds great initially,  a few away days somewhere different, teams you haven't met for a while..   The long and short of it is , it is bloody hard to get out off as rait h are finding out,  the football from most sides is mind numbingly boring and you get skinned 16notes for the privilege...  Therein lies the problem,   A couple of years back the Raith stand behind the g o a l would have been nearly full.   Tonight probably about a th ir d full,   Next year probably le ss again same as ourselves,   Death by a thousand cuts scenario,  depressing yes,   Factual He ll yes..

good luck at Palmerston by the way.

Over the last 3-4 years the support hasn't dropped that much. The issue is the two men and a dog away supports that greatly reduces the average attendances. We also have Fife flyers in the town to compete with which doesn't help.

Fair enough, Airdrie doesn't have that excuse, no real interest in Ice Hockey, but I am sure the Section B would find a use for the hockey sticks if the need arose.

It will,  the longer you stay down the more they will stay away, cant see Raith going up next year either

The reason your crowds dropped is that you stole another clubs identity and place in the league. Simple as that.

Thought this was a good interview with Stuart Millar. Insightful and clarifies some more details about the Chris O'Neil situation, who's been offered deals and what sort of contracts are on offer and why MacDonald and Stewart are on the transfer list.

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/airdrieonians-qa-dof-opens-up-15672153

This is also just the list of which players have been offered what - https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/airdrieonians-full-list-diamonds-who-15670800

Also, since there hasn't been a rumour posted for a while some boy on the Thistle thread is linking us and Morton with Kris Doolan.

The Doolan rumour was in in the "sun" this morning,  we have also been linked to Austin at caley and numerous other players taking part in the playoffs according to the press,  we are a gullible bunch and love a bit of speech play coming Ou r way from our DOF.     Always good to be linked to this type of player, but real istically must be out of our price range.   So I fully expect a couple of stranrae r and Ea stFife to sign on to improve our squad.

Looks pretty cool to me. I'm also kinda glad that they're going for blue shorts and white socks.

The only thing that will spoil the official team kits will be the SFL sleeve logos that sit between the V on the sleeve, it did in Airdries kit and looked  silly, nice kit though and expect good quality..

I feel its only fitting to bookend this glorious failure of Falkirk's season with a recap before they leave us for threads with three responses a week in them.

Feel free to add your own that I've missed.

    •    Scrapped your academy to spend more money on the first team budget
    •    Sacked Paul Hartley
    •    Ayr Utd's Manager refused the opportunity to manage you
    •    Tapped up Morton's unhappy manager illegally
    •    Knocked out of the Irn Bru Cup by Welsh Part timers
    •    Brought your own security to Cappielow for the safety of your fans
    •    THAT Ray McKinnon photo
    •    Took  seven matches to gain your first points of the season
    •    Won your second game of the season in November
    •    Falkirk Board accuse fans of being racist towards their own player
    •    Lose tribunal and have to pay SFA fine for tapping up Morton's  manager
    •    Got rid of most of your squad and spent big bringing in players to save your season
    •    Signed Morton's best player on a pre contract
    •    Celebrated a 38th minute equaliser against a team your fans don't care about  by invading the pitch (No pitch invasions the following week when you beat Ayr)
    •    Celebrated an injury time winner against QOTS with another pitch invasion, only for QOTS to score an 96th minute equaliser because of it
    •    In order to make up with the Morton board, you decide to pay them compensation for McKinnon despite insisting that we were not due it
    •    Got within touching distance of safety then lost to Morton, Alloa and drew with QOTS when it really mattered
    •    Complete a full season of matches against Jonatan Johansson without winning one of them
    •    Beat the league champions on the final day in glorious dramatic fashion only for the result to be meaningless
    •    Relegation to Scotland's third tier
    •    Kicked a board members car as they left the stadium
    •    Morton's best player's pre contract becomes null and void due to relegation
    •    The crushing realisation you spent over £100k on a manager who ultimately took you down
    •    Margaret Lang cries real actual tears at a meeting with fans

Will we have a new home and away kit this season or just a new home one?

How do you find the Joma kit, we have just signed a 2 year deals with Football Nation....we had Hummell the season past top quality but not interested in the smaller teams..

I found that part of the announcement very strange. Why would them being in the last year of their contracts (which most players are in League One) have any relevance to being transfer listed?

Surely you’re either wanted by the club and therefore not available for transfer, or not wanted and on the transfer list?

Agree was a very unusual statement regarding Stewart and MacDonald,    Carrick is under contract next season and he hasn't been mentioned anywhere......

According to the Arbroath thread. Ryan Wallace is rumoured to want to return FT to Airdrie,  upgrade on what we had if true

  15. Personally do not understand the furore over O Neil he was steady enough, but that calibre of player has made Airdrie a consistent league 1 side,   The directors want better,  what's left of the fans demand the return of the glory days.  Better quality players is the only answer for the club to progress.   Next season is pivotal (say it every season). Falkirk , possibly Raith and QOS and the rise of the Angus teams could make the campaign perilous,    Massive summer ahead.........onwards and upwards as the guvnor used to say.

  16. Interesting that half the proceeds of the End of Season presentation night have been ring fenced for a charity (fantastic charity).  PH wanted all proceeds to be split down the middle, Trust and Football Club, this was to be discussed by the Trust.  So the decision has been made not to split the funds,  has the club been informed o r just hearing through the traditional social media channels.    I

into the football if we can manage a victory down at stair this afternoon, be might just miss out by a couple of points again for the playoffs,  surely next year  is Our year...........
