Wrote at the time of his appointment that I thought it was a strange move. Looks like that was proved right! After all the funds he had available at Tranent, there was no way Calum Elliot was going to get the same financial commitment with Penicuik.

Hopefully the next Penicuik manager will stay that bit longer!

Appears I upset a Penicuik committee member, and if memory serves me right, not for the first time. However, not sure what I said wrong, and not the only one with similar thoughts, including a couple of actual Penicuik supporters. Hey ho😂

Where does it say I don't think it's a good result for us. I will repeat for you,,its now in our hands and we need to take advantage. Its a great result for Luncarty ,Glens still  have 2 games in hand with a better GD. Yer a pest, just focus on your other teams as Rubik says.

“Hardly a great night for us” - your response to my post.

And - are you saying that posters should only comment on the team they support? Time to grow up imho!

don't think any top 5 team will go unbeaten till the end of the season so still lots of twists and turns

Dunbar still favourites for me as they have the points on the board but have struggled against the lower teams and away from home

Agreed! The main priority for any relegated team is an immediate promotion. Dunbar have fared much better than Nitten S and Whitehill W and are surely a nap to be in the top 3 come end of season. I also agree/think that Dunbar will go up as league winners. The coaching staff/ players should be satisfied as things stand, the way their season is going..

Of course we do. Get up there and change it.

It’ll take time but it will change. Priority must be 2 up 2 down. That’s what will change the voting patterns.

And on the contrary on the boycott. IF we manage to get up, take supporters to everywhere the other teams might see that the £40k on offer for B teams would be dwarfed if a fluid pyramid was in operation. Crowds are growing from Tier 6 down from what I can see, and that means cash!

    Hail the Gallant!

👏👏 Certainly the best ‘Rose’ poster on this site👍

  6. Having last won the ‘West of Scotland Premier League’ title in 2019-20, is the slow demise of Auchinleck Talbot finally coming to a head?

No League title in last two years (about to be 3-years) and teams like Beith, Darvel, Clydebank etc getting stronger. Is it likely Auchinleck can challenge for the league next season with the current set up of officials, or should a new coaching staff be brought in to try and stop the demise?

aye I assumed there was a Perth connection somewhere - I know he was with St Johnstone when he was younger but didn't know if that was a maintained connection. He and his brother have Edinburgh links and his brother ex Mussey yeah?

Yip - Chris King was with Musselburgh and an exceptional free-kick taker. Coincidentally, Chris resigned as Manager from Newtongrange Star earlier on today.

What's the script with Charlie King quitting Tynecastle on 14th March (immediately replaced by assistant Robert Hart) and popping up at Scone Thistle a week later?

Think the reason was purely down to travel/time issues. Am sure Charlie stays in/near Perth and maybe could not commit any longer to travelling to Edinburgh three times a week. So, when the Scone position became available - much closer to home.

  9. After today’s defeat by Kirkcaldy & Dysart, I am glad some of Dunbar Utd fans have taken stock, before coming on to P&B tonight.

Yip; Dunbar have just lost two games in a row at home, three in a row in the league. But, look at the league table. Dunbar are currently seven points clear at the top of League One, with seven league matches remaining. Yes, Glenrothes, K&D and Kinnoull all have four matches in hand. But even if these three teams win all four (probably not!), Dunbar would still be in 3rd place in league, therefore, still on track for straight promotion back to the Premier League for 2023-24 season.

All honesty; I think Dunbar will finish, at worst, in 2nd place, if not first. Keep the faith, you Dunbar supporters, and we should see three East Lothian teams in the Premier League next season.

    Vale of Leithen are   RELEGATED

End of March... and Linlithgow sitting pretty 4pts clear of Sauchie (who have played 2 games more and only have 6 games left) plus 10pts & 11pts respectively clear of Jeanfield & Musselburgh.

    Nobody licensed is winning South.

Beith still 7pts clear of Darvel and latter now no games-in-hand. Auchinleck finally past halfway but now face 14 league games and 2 to 4 cup-ties in 7 weeks.

HbJb is without doubt my favourite contributor on P&B. Like @RyanMusselburgh of twitter, HbJb stats/knowledge at this level of football is OFS! Thank you sir👍

Not going to get into an argument over all this.

No club is hiding behind ‘the league made us do this’, it’s a fact that no concessions is part of the agreement between the League and Groundhop UK.  This has been in place for years. It’s just relaying that it is what the clubs have been told to do.

Penicuik have also advertised all season that the game was going to be on the Sunday, the fact it was Mothers Day wasn’t ideal but certainly not something the club planned!

Can’t comment on what others club did or allegedly did, or how the league might react. But placing the blame on the home Clubs involved when it has been agreed for years is a bit poor. Have you asked the League why it is part of the deal?

You are never going to stop all the moaners in this day and age and I bet the numbers of persons that do, are minimal. Just looking at comments on twitter, there has been a huge positivity vibe around the Groundhop weekend and the benefits to each the home teams has to be applauded by all (or most). As BWD states, the event has been going on fora number of years now and should be applauded.

If it’s really a big deal for £3/4 then it’s the clubs who do the gate they can see people right with a concession.

Groundhop UK (and others) run them every few weeks using a tried and tested formula. All the clubs involved this weekend will at least be a few grand better off.

I was in midstream of commenting myself, Crow and agree in scheme of things - no big deal👍

Admittedly the Hoppers raise the crowds at one - off games, and yes they seem to demand everything has to be done for them (they forget most clubs use volunteers) Think the block ticket for all games is the best way - no way the regular fans should get fleeced. Thankfully I steer clear of such events, prefer doing my own thing. Well done to all clubs this weekend 👏

As you say Andy, this is a one-off weekend so ‘concession fans’ are hardly being fleeced- maximum of £4 - two clubs I think being £3. I am sure the majority of fans would be happy on this occasion that their club (home support) is getting additional revenue for this one-off match.

I know of one club who, advised on the ‘non-concession’ prices so that those affected, if so wished, could buy their ticket in advance, so no additional cost to them. As also said in a previous comments, those who have season tickets would not have been affected by this.

Bigger worries to think about - me thinks!

Congratulations to you guys on your emphatic win. We (Musselburgh) went from one of our best performances all season last week to easily our worst last night. I'm not sure we had a shot on target!

Credit to you guys who were on it from the off and easily outplayed & outfought us on a great evening with over 550 people in the ground.

Best wishes for the remainder of the season.

    Always value your honestly PTB.

A number of Burgh fans around me were particularly annoyed at the wayward passing display by the home side and the lack of any positive goalmouth action.

Yes, very much agree it’s great to see such an interest in the games and increase in the attendances.

However, looking at the following table (stats provided from the excellent ‘Attendances’ pages and the above data) there’s a very big anomaly that sticks out.

    club  AveAtt  GhAtt    Diff

    Tynie   113        448     +335

    DUFC  237       553     +316

    Haddy 228      462    +234

    TJFC    503       607   +104

    Mussy  203      557   +354

Rough analysis shows a Ground Hopper base of 300 (+/-50) across all the EoS matches. Strangely, when it comes to the LL team there’s either only 104 hoppers attending with approx 230 going elsewhere, or the TJFC faithfull have found watching the rugby more appealing than going to Forrester Park. If the ground hoppers who attended all the other matches consistently also entered Forrester Park, then that takes the home attendance to around the 300 level.
Plainly, something just doesn’t add up. However, I’m sure there’s a very valid explanation 😉😉.

For clarification, O believe the attendances at each Groundhopper match are verified independent of the club.

    Just another mystery,,,,

Spoke to the Groundhop guy who is tasked to do the actual counts at each of the grounds this year. For Saturday matches, he said that generally, the first/last matches, are best supported, with the two middle matches showing a drop in numbers.

This seems to be in favour with what HibeeJibee says in his comments.

The reason the guy gave for his thoughts, is that some of the groundhoppers may choose to do something different between first/last matches, or go to a ‘non groundhop match’, such as the Bonnyrigg Rose v East Fife match.

Not the first time this season a game has been called off at the last minute after being deemed playable earlier.  I know conditions change but we all knew the forecast….a waste of everyone’s time and money.

Agreed NB and Dundonald has had its fair share of postponements this season.

I assume you were at the game to suggest my comment that the game wasn't very good is not how you seen it. Where you at the game.

DUFC got it more than you! You won 2-0 so give a wee bit credit surely - even if that’s just because Dunbar are into the next round!

’no very good’ - seems to be the main theme for most of your views on your team so far this season, not just a take on last night. I think though, that Dunbar’s main motive this season will be for a quick return to the Premier League. From a neutral’s point, Dunbar seem to be going the right way on that objective. If you look at where Nitten and WW are in the league (other relegated sides from last season), I think their supporters would gladly be where you are now.

No, I wasn’t at the game last night, but have been to five matches at Dunbar in previous weeks.

2-0 to Dunbar.. no very good.

13 pts ahead in the league and a cup win and no flicker of any enjoyment of how well your team are doing. Whether or not Dunbar win the league (most probably, they will), your team will get promoted straight back to the Premier league for next season. Thank God they are not in 3rd/4th place, or goodness knows how you’d be feeling then!
