  1. Quietly confident hear, Kilmarnock haven’t been great away and after a sore pumping by livi and our confidence raised by beating hibs I fancy us to take something here. Then again that’s our first win in 10 but county have this amazing ability to win a game and make me optimistic enough to want to look out my passport for our Thursday night europa league qualifier in June out in some absolute den in Belarus. But then next Saturday follows so what can you do 🤷🏼‍♂️

As they say with county though, if you can’t support us when we lose, don’t support us when we draw

  2. The first half was actually a really exciting game of football and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The second-half, from a County perspective, was horrendous and if Saint Mirren had won by two or three goals, I don't think anyone would have felt it flattered them. The winner looked like a wonderful finish.
I've seen 4 games this season (Celtic, Hibs, Hamilton, St. Mirren) and the same problems/issues have appeared in very game. They haven't been addressed (and I doubt they will). Certain players need dropped for a long time but they won't because of who they are: Fraser and Fontaine, if you're wondering.
Kettlewell/Ferguson are testing my patience. I was fully supportive of them getting the job, and cut them a lot of slack at times last season but here we are, an imbalanced squad, no wins in 8 and it doesn't look like changing anytime soon. Celtic will embarrass us again next weekend and we'll be sitting on 0 wins in 13 games by the time we go to St. Johnstone at the end of the year.

I actually thought Fraser had a decent game, Jelly wasn’t bad yesterday and this season he’s actually been decent but he’s still not top flight quality imo. Fontaine finished. Baxter seemed okay but that’s about it
  3. Very similar to what livi did when promoted, they kept a largely unchanged team and rode the momentum first few months then dropped off. County are no different.

Fontaine is finished, a nice guy but even at championship level he wasn’t convincing. We praise Watson and Morris as our CBs but in honesty they are made to look better than they are because of Fonts. I’d want 2 new CBs in Jan ideally. (Grivo has the potential to be a quality starter every week)

Foster has been our best signing yet Kelly is picked over him?? Kelly wasn’t bad yesterday but hibs and Hamilton away showed that foster is our best full back by a mile. Fraser was actually good yesterday too.

Spence for me offers little than side ways passes. Against top 4 teams when he has to work hard off the call he’s good but against teams like st Mirren Hamilton etc we need more cutting edge and creativity in there, Chalmers should be ahead imo.

  4. Baxter should go straight in if he is fit. Laidlaw is useless.

Have to disagree, usually only get to away games now but he’s been very good in a lot of those (Aberdeen away aside). A lot of people have said the last Aberdeen home game Laidlaw was useless but watching the goals on the highlights there’s nothing really he could of done for any. First free kick the wall spilts. The 2nd is an awkward cross with graham completely missing it. 3rd is top bins and even Neuer isn’t saving that. Our defence is our main problem 100%
  5. The Brian Graham cycle.
Step 1. Get into squad, come on as sub. Do OK
Step 2. Start scoring goals as sub and generally look decent
    Step 3. Get a start.
Step 4. Try and wind up opposition, give away niggly fouls, shout at teammates and generally underwhelm
    Step 5. Dropped from squad
A few weeks later, back to step 1.

It's like clockwork, he's really good every few games as a sub, but when he gets a start, his attitude and productivity both seem to take a nosedive.

What’s he really suppose to do tonight? He deserved a chance to start against Hamilton after his hibs showing but not tonight because like I said earlier he’s not going to chase loose balls all night like McKay would. We had no midfield as jack ran a mock and Alfredo Morelos made a young and inexperienced CB in Grivo and a finished at top flight level Fontaine look like his bitches. Rangers and Celtic are streets ahead of everyone and we shouldn’t judge our players off tonight. Would of liked a bit more fight from us yes but these games won’t define our season. Hamilton at the weekend will
  6. wouldn't mind something like this tonight

Graham won’t chase the ball for long enough for him to be effective so McKay should be up front with the option to throw graham on later.

Grivo I’m a big fan off and think he should start every week but to throw him in deep after not starting as a first game back up against a well experienced and top top striker in Defoe or a unbelievably talented Morelos won’t be that effective especially if we are scudded and he’s dropped for weeks or confidence goes down, would have Watson and Morris/ Fonts (yes fonts is a bombscare though)

Power won’t start I’d have Stewart and would have hendo over midge in the middle with chalmers and draper. Midge will need to be good defensively tonight if he’s to start out wide

  7. Some thoughts from a RC perspective:
    • Kelly (and Fontaine) were simply outpaced by Horgan for the opening goal, but I thought Kelly was County's best player from the starting XI. He was the only player - save for sometimes Gardyne and Henderson - to show gumption to pass and move.  His best game since the start of the year.
    • Hibs really should have capitalised more on Naismith repeatedly bombing beyond Gardyne in the first half.
    • County had a better shape about them than last week, but at a cost of not being able to do anything with the ball.  Things happened when Gardyne, Kelly and Henderson linked up, but if the ball was across the pitch at Draper, Spence, Fraser and Foster, forget it.  I get why the team was picked as it was: after losing 6-0 Foster on the right with Draper and Spence in the middle weren't going to collapse early on in the match.  However  the only thing Foster offered going forward was occasionally beating Stevenson in the air.  I would have put Mullin on earlier.
    • Henderson showed good touches and was on the end of some professional fouls, but he's very inexperienced and needs another 20 league games to show his potential IMO.  His best touches were mostly on the half-way line, but looked more involved in the final third as the team pushed up, just as he was subbed.
    • Maybe it just suited the match circumstances, but the Draper-Chalmers combo looks as good as any others in the squad just now.
    • I don't know if it's confidence-related or if it's the calibre of opposition, but it's not happening for Mckay just now. Brian Graham took his goal really well, then in typical fashion missed a better chance immediately after (the pass by Gardyne to allow Kelly to cross first-time was a lovely move).  I'm guessing Ross Stewart must have an injury, but where is Lee Erwin?  He hasn't been seen for weeks.

Funny how us fans can have completely opposite opinions, personally felt foster was our best player (before graham came on) and Henderson 2nd best. Would like to see Forster staring at wing back again though and a midfield 3 of draper Henderson and Chalmers going forwards
  8. Both colt sides and welsh, irish sides devalue the tournament but in this instance hope solihull do the rangers colts.Any team that beats that lot will do for me

I don’t like the colts being involved but disagree about the foreign teams, always good going somewhere knew, chance for an away trip manu of us won’t ever get without European football. County aren’t even in it and I’m interest to see who’s representing Scotland away. Would love to see it expanded to a british cup. Have a feeling Wrexham will win it this year
  9. Anyone else think it's time to drop the 4-4-2?
We have bodies in there to play a 4-2-3-1 type formation I think.
Going by fit players we could have
                    Laidlaw
    Fraser Morris Watson Foster
            Grivo   Henderson
    Mullin  Gardyne  Power
                   Stewart
I'm obviously not a football manager by any means but seems logical with what we have.

I’d prefer if draper was in CDM instead of Grivo, Grivo is a good promising CB so we shouldn’t tinker with that imo. Sure he looked decent there in a 1 off game but McManus looked really good out wide for 1 game vs Motherwell and we all know how that played out after playing him wide on numerous occasions afterwards
