The first thing that needs to change is the desire of clubs for change, and the ending of self interest

Look at those leagues whose clubs have reached CL groups this season, and at who finished top 2 in those leagues in last decade.
Basically almost every league is now dominated by 2 or 3 clubs.
In some cases it's a single club, and there may be few battling behind them; in some cases it's a duopoly; in some cases it's a triumvirate. Beyond that it's largely one-offs or early last decade.
Austria
only 2 clubs have won and 1 of those was 10 years ago
3 other clubs have finished 2nd
Belgium
only 3 clubs have won
3 other clubs have finished 2nd but 1 of those was 10 years ago - admittedly another was most recent
Croatia
only 2 clubs have won (once in 1 case)
3 other clubs have finished 2nd - and admittedly most of those were most recent
Czech Republic
only 3 clubs have won and 1 of those was 9 years ago
nobody else has finished 2nd
Denmark
4 clubs have won but 1 of those was 9 years ago
2 other clubs have finished 2nd (once each) but those were 7 + 10 years ago
England
5 clubs have won
2 other clubs have finished 2nd
France
only 3 clubs have won (once each in 2 cases)
2 other clubs have finished 2nd and 1 of those was 7 + 8 years ago
Germany
only 1 club has won
4 other clubs have finished 2nd (once each in some cases)
Israel
only 3 clubs have won
only 1 other club has finished 2nd (once)
Italy
only 3 clubs have won - admittedly 2 of those were most recent

Netherlands

Absolute disgrace how dare any fan criticize the £500,000. That the other clubs get, compared to the 25 million the other two get,
I liked how they made sure Cosgrove was on near enough 3pm so as to be able to get curtail him before he ripped them all a new Arsehole

When is the last time you heard a manager saying , yes the results are poor and I'm not the man to turn it around , so I'm going.
It never happens they all say I will turn it around etc etc,
Am I surprised at the results ? Yes but do I think Ross will go willingly no chance

Ah the SFL Review (later "Scottish Football Review"). Shame it's gone.
While never 100% accurate it was a fascinating browse, and has preserved huge amounts of information for posterity.
It took me a while to assemble full set without paying silly money... early editions in big floppy format - especially inaugural issue and orange year - are fairly rare IIRC.
Less well-known is SPL's short-lived rival... issued as large format "SPL Annual" in 1999-00, then "SPL Yearbook" for a few years:
Basically identikit aping of SFL Review.
E.g. compare 2000-01:
or 2001-02:
Some of those can be hard to obtain. It was the fact that it came out after the season started and in those days transfers were allowed throughout the season,. I used to write in transfers conducted throughout the season myself, I always thought it would be great if the publication had left a designated blank area for this

Delighted to go along the the memorabilia fayre art Pittodrie yestreen and get another 1990/91 copy, my issue had the centre pages falling out so to replace it with a near mint copy was pleasing

Some of those can be hard to obtain.I have those two soft back publications, they were the poor man's version.
I wonder how the publication would sell today,
The only issue I had with the league review was it wasn't on sale until mid to late September or October, would have been more apt to be ready for season start, especially for filling in results ,
I wonder how much a full collection is worth

Lidl and Aldi sell theee best rump and ribeye steaks in the country imo.
I know from someone that works in the supply chain, that on the conveyer belt the mark and spencers and watrose chutes are before the lidl one so when thier quota is met the very same meat then goes into the Lidl chute

I sorely miss this annual publication, the Bible of Scottish football back in the day,
I started collecting with the 1984/ 85 edition,
And bought it every year until it stopped being produced.
Thanks to eBay and online bookstores I finally managed to get all the early editions to complete the collection.

I've seen Gaston now twice fail to make what appeared to be a routine clearance, tonight and in the end if season game against *** DMCs mob last season and both Times cost Arbroath the game,
A pity as those costly errors aside he looks a decent keeper

ClibsI've been banging on for years clubs just see fans as cash cows, they have no interest in anything else other than taking every penny they can from supporters.
The idea of moving games forward an hour is a good one , but there is a rule in football I'm told where a game can't have floodlights turned on during a game they have to be on before it starts or not at all, how ludicrous is that?
I was a two league cup games in July and both had flood lights on ,ffs, a summers evening, even on the 45 min drive home after I didn't need headlights .
Also I'd like to see clubs help fans by not changing replica jersey every year , why not the old model, home and away change every alternate year.
Look the SPL were the start of this greed and self interest a cartel set up to protect its membership,
I once saw a figure that in the last season before the cartel was formed the combined debt of top division clubs was just over £1 million, that's combined debt,
The debts spiralled upon the cartel coming into existence.
I'm afraid fans only have themselves to blame, they keep coming back, they keep putting up with clubs ripping them off

Perhaps a major stumbling block is the mentality of the other clubs , accepting the league is over before it's begun
The instil this attitude to the whole club, boardroom, coaching, playing staff, and this filters out to the fans,
We also have the MSM feeding us the rhetoric that suits thier narrative,
Perhaps there is a case for saying all leagues have the big successful clubs but has any other country had such a long period where only two clubs are champions

Highlight of games for me , seeing Tonya Couch giving her analysis on the diving

It's a shame that we are all consigned to those two winning the league for the next 10 -20 yrs how sad .

I couldn't believe the stat that Dundee utd won 5 games in the UEFA cup run in 1987 and up until last night they had only won 5 games in Europe in the following 36 yrs

I went to the game on Sunday with my wife, daughter and son. All wearing their England tops apart from me in my Scoland top.
I'll be honest I had a good time. I couldn't bring myself to "support" England but for the benefit of my young daughter especially I at least kept my thoughts to myself and just showed my appreciation for the occasion.
Wife has been playing football since she was little, she had to play for the men's University team as there was no women team at the time, she was only allowed to train and play friendlies not in the league which was "male only", this was only 14 years ago. She coaches our sons team. Two players left when they found out that she was taking over coaching, it wasn't said to her face but the parents of the two kids told another parent that they didn't think there would be a benefit for their sons being coached by a female and wanted them to be coached by a male. She played for the local women's team, she would wait until the Friday night to see what the weather was like, if it was chucking it down and pitches waterlogged, hard frosted surfaces in winter she would watch the youth teams, mens and veterans teams all play before the ladies were told that their games couldn't go ahead due to "unplayable surfaces".
To say that she was in tearful on Sunday would be an understatement. She sees it hopefully as a seminal moment in women's football where it is taken seriously and as equals at a grassroots level, if not at a professional level, for the development of a game she's loved as much as any boy since she was a wee girl, and also for our daughters sake.
The game won't be for everyone, someone said that the fans sounded like they were at a pop concert which I would say it is accurate, it didn't have that charged atmosphere that men's games too, but it also as result it lost that toxicity, I was nervous about wearing my top, so much so I took another t-shirt to change into unless I got grief, didn't need to worry as nobody batted an eyelid. Just a good family friendly affair, no trouble.
All in all I'm not ashamed to say I had a good time, more importantly my daughter loved it. Just wish it was Scotland I was watching.
Hopefully then powers at be in the Scottish game don't miss this opportunity, we have some good players, Weir, Cuthbert etc, we need to develop the game so that we don't get left behind.
If I get the chance I'll definitely make more of an effort to go and take in a Scottish lassies game/follow them, take my little girl too, see if I can turn her away from the dark side!!As I said the omens don't look good with the SPFL steering the ship

Piece on reporting Scotland Tonight wondering if it will enhance the women's Game in Scotland.
Well the Game here is now under the auspicious of the competent, honest, beyond reproach, Shithouses of the SPFL with that p***k Doncaster at the helm , so have a think about how that's likely to turn out

There’s a reason Robinson left. Any talk of him coming back should be a not starter. It’s a lot of bs anyway. Some of the options that are being proposed on here, mainly from non Motherwell fans are quite laughable, obviously posted to garner some sort of outeage and should be taken with a barrow full of salt. I mean, Jim Duffy ffs
I recall he was on sporstound a few weeks after he left , he said he felt he had taken the team as far as he could, and that he wanted time away from the game, good 9n him for saying that too many managers spout the " if I thought I couldn't turn it around id go " speil, yet how many have you actually heard say that they didn't think they could , so resigned
