That's a really good point which I'm not arguing about although I do remember Frank scoring with a header against Servette for the only goal over the two legs.

I think Ferguson said the Swiss were the best team to play at Pittodrie during his tenure.

McDougall was absolutely lethal, Ferguson said in McDougalls book, that Frank was the best finisher he had ever worked with and thats no mean feat

Dougie Bell , a fantastic footballer.

as was John McMaster , as were Andy Ritchie , Ralph Milne , John Brown ( at Dundee )

Stewart McKimme was better going forward than defending.

Frank McDougall and Billy Stark were not as good in European ties as the Scottish League IMHO

Billy Stark is the only non striker to score over 100 top division league goals  when you look at the list of strikers that did he is in great company

Did Stewart mckimmie not score the winning goal against the world champions in 1987

Edit, in fact he got 40 caps and appeared at 3 major finals

    Wasn't capped until 1990s

  4. The 80s was an abundance of uncapped players that should have been.

Unfortunately, the someone on twitter seems to be closer to the mark than the party at the moment.

It's really not that difficult to maintain a membership list. It takes time and administration. It seems like its been badly neglected. Any card failures or direct debit failures are known almost instantly. I know this as I've done it before and you then try to collect payment again. It shouldn't be difficult to update the membership list thereafter. In fact, you should be able to integrate it.

Those eligible to vote should be defined somewhere. Then there is no scope for argument. My understanding is that it isn't clearly defined. However, someone whose membership lapsed 3 years ago shouldn't be voting. If its a tight result there may well be a challenge to the result.

The party is imploding but change had to come. Its one of these one step backwards to take two steps forward moments.

Assuming the new leader grasps the opportunity of a reset. This is a chance to sort the party and government out. Get the party engaging with the membership and improve transparency and decision making. Get the SG delivering competent government for the people with improved outcomes. It sounds simple but it's a bit ask, admittedly. Only 2 of the candidates have any chance of achieving that. I'm not counting Ash.

I agree I should not have had a vote, it didn't stop me casting it though

    One coach, one cup.

Also had a trialist turn up, play really well and then disappear after two more quick appearances. The rumour was that he'd asked Geoff Brown for a loan to pay off gambling debts owed to some Glasgow gangsters.

For us its probably a manager.

Steve Lomas appears halfway through a season and has us 4th headed into split before we lose all 5 games. Something like a 10 game winless run between seasons happens before we beat Celtic. We then turn into the most exciting Saints team ive seen with Tade/Vine/Hasslebaink all strikers will to take people on at pace.

He brings Tommy Wright and Steven MacLean to the club, and then brings in Mehdi Abeid who remains one of my favourite Saints players despite only playing about 10 times.

We finish 3rd and match our highest ever league finish.

All this combined with constant rumours hes on the pish every weekend in town singing The Sash, and rumours hes been flashing his knob to female staff at the club.

He then jumps ship to Millwall amidst these rumours and vanishes from the managerial scene completely.

Does that beat your ex coach Steve Harrison party piece ,

  8. I went to see mark Nelson in Aberdeen last month,  all in all thought he was good .

Better than the support act,  they were as funny as life support.

Gary Delaney is good if you like that kind of one liners.

And I really enjoyed Paul McCaffrey too, hopefully he returns to Aberdeen again.

The police searched for an unfortunate lady in the river and surrounding flood plain for about 4 weeks just beside my house (at the end of 2022) They used the coast guard helicopter about four times and searched on foot a similar number of times - once with a dog as we believed the body could be in underneath some of the piles of debris washed up by the massive flood.  There are still hundreds of tonnes of debris (trees, branches and straw) on my brothers farm and to be honest if the dog wasnt able to sniff out that one time the body could still be there.  However, the flood was so powerful that the body could easily be in the North Sea (about 20 miles away)

Perhaps, a very similar story as she fell in trying to control her dog.

Is this the old woman fae Monymusk

Sad to see Billy Thomson gone, and as @tamthebam says, 'he was a pretty good goalie'. Strangely, never capped after he moved east, Billy took a while to finally displace Hamish, but some brilliant performances stick in my mind, including while badly injured in the UEFA Cup Final and a semi final against local rivals Dundee in 1987.

I also recall about 10 years later Billy turning out for Dundee and turning in a fantastic performace as the Dee knocked United out on penalties at Tannadice in a League Cup tie.

Billy was possibly responsible for a stack of young lads cutting the bottoms of their trackies and tucking the remnants into their socks to emulate their hero 'Billy the Fish'.

    RIP.

I always thought that after Leighton departed Aberdeen , Thomson was for me the best Scottish goalkeeper in the division,

And I also find it strange why he was never picked for the national side when at Tannadice
