  1. At the end of last week my boss asked me if I'd completed a task I was working on. I responded wirh a double thumbs up. I'm considering resigning
  2. Unless you're actually in the know then I understand it's all hearsay. I think Peterhead probably have to pay a premuim given they're a million miles from civilization (Aberdeen isn't civilization). I've also anecdotally heard Spartans players are on a decent wedge, which is impressive for a leisure centre with a footballing department. Stenhousemuir clearly have some well paid players. We've re-signed a lot of the team on what will likely be slightly better terms. I've no doubt Buchanan and Darren Jamieson are well paid for the level but we have a squad of 18 players (maybe one more defensive player to come in). The average wage would have to be incredibly high to match Dumbarton's wage bill given the squad size. Obviously some of the The Rangers money has been invested early which is more than fair enough! P.s. I was absolutely howling at reading some of their fans were buying half season tickets to secure tickets for the match. I do like Dumbarton. A proper football club with good fans. I hope all the behind the scenes shenanigans gets sorted out relatively soon.
  3. And it's nuts. Why would you have the right back/right winger on the left hand side of the page? Edit - Only acceptable if both teams are shown in the same graphic on either side of the half way line
  4. Buchanan was offered a 2 year deal plus the captaincy with us. Dumbarton have slightly higher crowds than us but with our ability to hire the pitch out, that at least cancels that out. We have an 18 man squad at present and may look to bring in a 19th. Dumbarton have a 25 man squad and outwith Vata and the reserve keeper are all senior pros commanding a decent wage.
  5. A genuine question. It looks like Dumbarton have the biggest budget in the league (unless Peterhead are throwing stupid money at players again). If the absentee owners main goal is to asset strip/make money off the land, why do they continue to provide such a healthy budget for the level?
  6. The innocuous tweet below suggests Nat Wedderburn has signed up for next season. Every time he receives the ball 35 yards out with two players on him I make involuntary noises of concern but every time he holds them off and plays it out to a fullback which is met by rapturous applause by myself. I struggle to believe he isn't playing 2 levels below where he could. Such a handsome man as well. I may well love him.
  7. Am I right in saying Dumbarton currently have a 24 man squad?
  8. Spartans games in hand are... East Fife v Spartans Bonnyrigg v Spartans Then due to the Scottish Cup they'll have another game in hand... Dumbarton v Spartans
  9. If I was looking at an identical league table not involving us I'd be thinking of the team at the top 'they've won that already'. However, the no league title in our history weighs heavy. Most other generic League 2/bottom half League 1 teams have a title or two in the last 15/20 years and so have some muscle memory of success so are more inclined to think they can do it again. We've got a huge next 4 games in which we play Spartans, Dumbarton and Peterhead. If we come through that (plus others catch up games in hand) with a healthy lead then maybe I'll start to believe!
  10. If these Rodden rumours are true I'll be happy for 2 reasons. 1) He averages a goal every 95 mins in League 1 over 2 seasons, which is excellent. 2) He's not an 18 yr old from a generic Premiership team who is 90% likely to be unfit for non age group football (yet)
  11. ^^^^ currently drinking Guiness in a Wetherspoons
  12. 240.2 lbs. Christ! My goals are 210lbs by the start of April and 180lbs by the start of July. Probably far too ambitious but I'll give it a go! If I'm anything under 196lbs (14 stone) come July I'll be reasonably happy
  13. I think i'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and post it on here. Maybe posting it publically will help me keep motivated. I need to lose 4 stone minimum, probably more like 5. I'll not be adopting any specific diet other than avoiding rubbish and cutting down alcohol intake. I do quite enjoy exercise so will be doing a few weekly runs.
  14. It's New Year's Eve. Surely wee man will be on the voddy by now? Hoping for fireworks later!
  15. Clyde were quite Elginy. Not comedically bad, but just generally a bit hapless and toothless. We were poor as well but we have a habit of being able to grab a couple of goals from not much. Glad to have checked that one off. If Football Manager has taught me anything, your winning run ends at the bottom of the league jobbers.
  16. To make the playoffs, on current PPG, Clyde would only need 57 out of the next 60 points available. Eminiently doable IMHO.
  17. Engagement or baby due posts on social media done in a 'transfer deal' style. It's tired and cliched 'banter' by now, having been done to death. I'm not the sort of person who would post about such things on social media, but if I was, I think such a nice occasion deserves a bit of sincerity.
  18. I saw the crowd was announced as 380 something. Having seen the goal highlights, that seems like creative accounting. The stand was 80% full minimum!
  19. After an excellent headed flick on for Yates to volley home, the game became a bit of a nothingness for the next 60 mins. Sloppy play from both sides and not much quality. After the keeper cleaned out Aitken and he eventually scored the penalty, our greater quality began to shine through and we created a few good chances to extend the lead. If Clyde add 4 or 5 mediocre (at worst) league 2 players, Elgin will finish bottom by a distance.
