  1. Sorry to hear this Gary. I was at School when your uncle signed at the same day as Neil Hood. Gordon was as hard as nails on the pitch but an absolute gentleman off it. I mean it!
If I remember correctly, he ran an ice cream van while playing for us...that made me laugh. I met him a few years later and had pint with him in the Jean Armour in Shawlands.
Sporting memories is a dementia charity that does great work in sporting reminiscence with those living with dementia. Give them a shout. It could be good for Gordon's carers too.

  2. Hi would anyone on this thread be able to help me, my uncle Gordon Hamilton who played over 150 games for the Accies in the early 70’s has recently been diagnosed with dementia and last week he had a heart attack. I’m trying to get old pictures and team photos of him so that we can talk about his career. He can remember playing football and all the clubs he played for, his short term memory has gone. If anyone could help I’d greatly appreciate it. Gary

  3. Hi would anyone on this thread be able to help me. My uncle Gordon Hamilton who captained Clyde under Craig Brown has recently been diagnosed with dementia and last week he had a heart attack. He loves talking about his football career and any pictures that anyone could share would helps us talk about it with him. Thanks in advance, Gary

  4. Hi, I wonder if anyone on this thread could help me. My uncle Gordon Hamilton who played for your club in the 70’s has recently been diagnosed with dementia and he also had a heart attack last week. Would anyone have a team photograph of him as he talks fondly of his time as a professional footballer, it would be great if anyone could share. The manager at the time was Billy Lamont, the more memories we can share with him the better it is for him. Thanks Gary

  5. Football teams are in decline, youth football and amateur football.
There are so many reasons, youths as they get older have other interests, drink, girls, playstations xbox, online, nightlife etc..
There will always be amateur football, that's for sure but it will eventually reach  certain level because of the environment that we live in.

30 odd years ago we had tons of youth teams and tons and tons of amateurs as nearly everyone played football.
You'll see problems on the youth sections of their forum and by a certain extent the same for amateurs. Even the price of parks, the referee can take its toll.
Astro parks costing £100 then referee about £30-40, that's £130 odd for a game of football. Add to that there is less parks with all the new housing estates being built.

Some amateur teams are connected with the junior teams as in training beside them and some could be closer but it is hard. As long as each league are organised well and are looking to improve and ideas to keep amateur football interesting then it will add to a continued amateur football experience in Scotland.

Remember the absolutely ludicrous academy system the SFA runs
  6. After seeing the draw for the second round of the Scottish Cup today, it appears that my thoughts are correct. There was only 256 teams in the draw for round 2 today. It used to be 10 rounds to the semi finals now it’s 7, it won’t take people long to work out how many teams used to take part in the competition

  7. Colville were very good in spells, I think everyone needs to remember it’s pre season. John and Bobby will be fine, they played some great football. From our perspective it was win number 3, and we are in no doubt Eastfield will be our biggest pre season challenge.

  8. It gives us great pleasure to confirm that Stewarton United have a new manager. Billy McKie, former manager of Kello Rovers, Lugar Boswell Thistle, Gartcairn and Newmains United has accepted our offer and will start immediately. Preparations will now ramp up for season 2019/20. Any players who wish to be a part of our squad for next season are invited to pre-season, details to follow.

    Well done lads, great work
