  1. Would you not put Nicky Clark ahead of Dobbie ? He is, after all, our joint record holder for goals scored in a single season and has 2 medals and other accolades to show for it ! Of course, Del tops them both.
  2. Absolutely not. Not even an Allan Ball ! I grew up watching the great man and have had the pleasure of chatting with him on several occasions over the years. I think it's time to get back to the real issue here. My point is not so much about legendary status or not but about a player being singled out, disrespected, and accused of being a disruptive influence at the Club when I have neither seen nor heard any evidence of such a thing. Apart from not being at his best last season as far as I am aware he has done nothing to be awkward or disrespect the Club in any way. As is his right, the Manager decided he didn't want to keep him nor select him under any circumstance. It's not as if Robinson decided he didn't want to play any more and sit on the remaining year of his contract. It's quite clear the Manager wanted him out - along with several other stalwarts - which was always going to cost the Club money under the circumstances. Robinson would be entitled to every penny due and rightly so. Of course, the situation was compounded by the injury to Martin and the Manager showed his stubborn streak in not wanting to look foolish by backing down and selecting Robinson. If he is prepared to keep playing Martin through injury and not training then he clearly thinks Leighfield is not yet up to it. In not selecting a fit, experienced 'keeper in those circumstances is poor, poor management. His responsibility is to put the best available team of players on the park and to do the best for the team. Someone said previously that Atkinson was gone " by association". If that is true then that is another bad decision by the Manager which has come back to bite him. If he wanted shot of Robinson fine but in Atkinson he would have had a reliable, experienced 'keeper as back-up.
  3. Plenty of video evidence to back that up as well as actions. I would agree with that BUT that entire double-winning, record breaking group of management, staff and players go down as legends in my book. I am just approaching my half-century of attending Palmerston and I can honestly say that season was the most exciting, positive, attacking and winning football I have ever witnessed from a Queens team and it was delivered consistently. Robinson certainly played his part in that.
  4. As he would be fully entitled to as he was in a contract and - due to the Manager's attitude - became surplus to requirements. The Manager is entitled to his opinion about a players ability but I am 100% certain Robinson was not a disruptive influence. He is one of the most laid back characters around and who has an undoubted affinity with QOS FC. Higgins was treated in the same dismissive manner by Naysmith except it was easier to get rid of him as he was out of contract. That's just pathetic and disrespectful to a Club legend as well as extremely derogatory and discriminatory to anyone residing in NE England. Perhaps comments like this should be examined closely by those who monitor the site.
  5. On that basis, Dobbie should be benched before Lyle. In line with the Falkirk 'burst' he seems to go several games without scoring and then hits a few at once. It seems he is selected for every game on the basis that the 'explosion' will happen sooner rather than later. I was not impressed with Kane to start with but he has contributed more in recent games and provides the running and energy that Dobbie and Lyle cannot. I have said numerous times before and still believe that our most potent partnership is Dobbie and Lyle and that they should start every game whilst acknowledging that we may need to change it during the course of a match.
  6. Absolutely shocking. Obviously not a real fan ! Totally agree. Every member of that glorious double winning team deserve recognition and respect for all-time. The abuse and criticism dished out to Robinson last season was scandalous and way over-the-top. All the best to him in whatever he chooses to do next.
  7. Bob Harris is available too. Not sure what level he is looking for these days but still only 28 I think.
  8. They are of course, as most businesses, accountable to shareholders so not quite as you say.
  9. I know you are not used to, nor will like, hearing this but........ WRONG. Around the early 70's we had a yellow with black trim shirt and black shorts for a change shirt - a bit like traditional Wolves but a little duller. We also used white with black trim and black shorts around that time. Interesting that after all this time yellow and white still seem to be the most popular choices for change strips.
  10. That's an idea. How did you know ? I did start one around 1968, perhaps it's time to revive it !
  11. Just read this quote from Naysmith on last week. "Just like the fans I was thinking about where the goals would come from before the game. That's probably a bit disrespectful to Derek." (Source; Dfs Courier) Too right - for once - on that one Gary !
  12. Of course there must be a reason but no-one here will be able to provide you with it. Surely you must realise that is a business arrangement between the Clubs and not for public disclosure.
  13. Who do you think 'spat the dummy' then ? Here's some pointers; Robinson is a very easy going guy with strong links to the Club, Naysmith's attitude toward players is appalling who thinks it is okay to slaughter them in public and obviously decided when he came in that certain players were not to his liking. If he thought Robinson was no good then why did he keep playing him last season ? He could have played Atkinson or maybe he thought he was no good either then surely if he thought Leighfield was superior in ability to Robinson then he would have promoted him last season. His decision to 'bin' 2 'keepers with 1st team experience 'en masse' is now coming back to bite him. This is not so much about Robinson as it is about Naysmith. I repeat, his managerial skills are greatly lacking and the sooner he is gone the better.
  14. Absolutely agree and said as much some days ago. If we are struggling to bring in players how on earth can it be justified to spend on an additional 'keeper when we already have one on the payroll ? It would be gross mis-management and a dereliction of duty on Naysmith's part and that is why the Board would have to put their foot down. If Naysmith doesn't like it he knows what he can do !
  15. That indeed is the point and where Naysmith has got it all wrong. I went through all this earlier. Would he really stick to his petty, dismissive attitude and ignore the fact we have an experienced 'keeper on the books, with a squad number and whom we are still paying and then add to the costs of the Club by paying for a loan goalie as you advocate ? Personally I think he would. If so, the Chairman should veto his request and tell him where to go !
  16. I think it is clear that he is not in the plans but an unexpected, emergency situation has arisen. The point I am making - and you don't seem to get - is that if you have an experienced 'keeper available that you are already paying for then he should be considered to fill that gap over a young inexperienced 'keeper. Any decent Manager uses the best players available therefore Robinson should have been on the bench as no.2 to Martin till such time he moved on. Plenty of time thereafter for Leighfield to develop.
  17. What on earth is it you think he may have done ? I would guess absolutely nothing.. It is quite clear with Naysmith that if your face doesn't fit, you've had it. Just ask Higgins, Dowie and Hamill. To bring another 'keeper in on loan, when we are already paying an experienced one would be ludicrous. If he was even thinking about that then the Chairman should step in and put him right.
  18. Your historical dislike of Marshall is well documented so it is no surprise that you seek to apportion blame to him. Any competent 'keeper would have dealt with that comfortably, not that I am saying Leighfield is incompetent. Not sure what you mean by " being questioned". What I am pointing out is that he came across as really nervous and uncomfortable yesterday which is quite understandable and not something he should be vilified for. His experience yesterday will help him but I would still say he is not ready yet for this level.
  19. Steady on. Remember this is just pure speculation. He may well be back in a week or two and doing just what you suggest.
  20. Big, big decision for the Manager now. I am not criticising the lad, but everyone could see he was uncomfortable yesterday and not ready for this level yet. This impacted on the defence as it was clear they did not want to play it back to him unless absolutely necessary and therefore the options for them were limited. We have an experienced goalie on the books, who is still being paid, so it really is a no-brainer what should happen next if Martin continues to be absent. This decision will prove whether Naysmith is up to the job or not. Will he swallow his pride for the good of the team ? Will he put aside his petty attitude toward certain players or will he continue his mis-man management policy ? To either bring someone in on loan or throw Leighfield to the lions in the den of Tannadice would be a complete dereliction of duty when, I assume, Robinson is fit and available. Indeed, yesterday just re-inforces the folly of his decision making thus far by completely sidelining Robinson.
  21. That's a good point. I don't think things, in many respects, have turned out the way he thought they might. I would not have any problem whatsoever if he wanted to, and did, move on. He is clearly capable of playing for a bigger Club and probably deserves the opportunity to do so before retiring. Although it was only Brechin, yesterday proved that we are not solely reliant on Dobbie - as so many seem to think - and that we can manage without him. Indeed, we did just that a year ago when we qualified from a more difficult League Cup group with some decent performances. Of course, this is just wild speculation at present but it is the time of year when 'mystery injurues' occur.
  22. 100%. Funnily enough I came across on Sky Football yesterday ' Scottish Cup Greatest Games', of which this was one.. I still got a tingle after that ball hit the net. For all the stick JT has taken, you cannot take that moment away from him or our history. A thoroughly decent and pleasant man and a great asset and ambassador for our Club. Footnote; I was hoping that the Semi would feature at some point too as it truly is one of the Scottish Cup's greatest games.
  23. They were both appointed around the same time. They have both never really been accepted by the majority of fans at either Club. They have both had poor League records. They have both failed to qualify from, what most would describe as, favourable League Cup groups. They have demonstrated little to give fans hope for the immediate future. When interviewed they don't indicate positivity or inspiration to players or fans. They are both out of their depth.
