  1. I never really felt it was much of a risk tbh. What would they do? Tell me to pour it out? Fine. I quite like to enjoy live entertainment events with a paced drink. Not enough to get smashed, but just enough to keep a nice buzz. Far more enjoyable than smashing back pints up to kick off and going in a bit lary as many others choose to do. The problem is football is treated differently in this country. I can enjoy a civilised drink at the theatre, rugby, cinema or at a football game abroad and nobody starts clutching their pearls. Can enjoy a game without a drink too, but I like that it lifts my spirits when done in moderation at a match. I would rather have no drink than get wasted pre-match. As much as I enjoy a nice buzz, I prefer to be able to see and enjoy the game more.
  2. Interesting point. I still have great memories every time I hear the songs that were played post final whistle at the three winning Scottish Cup finals I was at though. As soon as I hear Carnaval De Paris, or Levels for example, I am transported back to a sunny day in May where I was really happy. I also love hearing The Silencers: What a Beautiful Day, or Hey Jude by the Beatles.
  3. I like a bit of music before games and after the final whistle. We have these great big screens at Tynecastle now, and I was a bit worried we were going to have a constant stream of adverts like someone left the telly on in the living room, but it is not the case thankfully. It’s tunes through the tannoy 90% of the time, with notices and adverts with no volume on the screens. Goal celebration music can get GTF
  4. Oh right… I mean, I never had anything to drink before the match at all (non of that smashing it back before kick off stuff), and I had two pints back at Tynecastle after the game before heading home. If that qualifies then fair enough, I quite like a couple of pints at Murrayfield too, and grounds around Europe when watching football there. I suppose I better get in touch with AA though. Who was it you worked for? The Ministry of Screeching Hypochondriacs?
  5. I was in a group of four at Hampden and I was the youngest there at 44. The boy literally patted my inside pocket where the hip-flask was. My mates were patted down by two separate stewards and the same result. They were patting down everyone, but clearly they just weren't that arsed. Glad they weren't actually, as it meant I was able to have a few vodka and cokes whilst watching the game. Very civilised, like being abroad or at the rugby or something. Love the idea of grey-haired flare mules though. Actually, not a bad name for a prog rock band that: The grey-haired Flare Mules.
  6. Can’t really tell at the moment. We had a pretty sketchy start but we seem to be improving. I think we have the best squad outside of the old firm, but January is just around the corner so that may change, and our manager is very inexperienced. I do fancy us to do it though.
  7. Depends. You are unlikely to be blinded or suffer second degree burns from a smoke-bomb, but anyone with a respiratory condition would probably prefer to stand next to someone with a flare in their hand. I was patted down at the semi vs Rangers and I had a decent sized hip-flask in my jacket inside pocket. I think that tells you how people manage to smuggle both flares and smoke in without many issues.
  8. I just think it is really ungrateful that is all. You should have named a stand after him and built a statue imo. Would have even given you the opportunity to avoid all those semi and final thrashings too. You could have been at Hampden all resplendent in maroon watching us pump some other no hopers instead.
  9. Ah, Mercer, the only good Tory. A man with vision who saved a failing small local club who were being scuttled by criminals - Duff and Gray. Always saddens me how ungrateful the vermin are towards him. It is not a stretch to say that without Wallace Mercer, there would be no Hibs.
  10. Dunno, some boy started going on about Ann Budge being a Tory. Think he was just getting a bit pissed off about the whole stereotype that St Johnstone fans are a bunch of inbred, welly wearing tractor-humpers.
  11. Certainly nothing in her business practices to suggest it, that’s for sure. I know some self made rich people can go all Michelle Mone, but usually there are hints in their behaviour. Not seen anything to suggest Ann is like that at all. Quite the opposite in fact.
  12. Is Budge even a Tory, actually? Genuine question, as I do not know. Are people just assuming this because she is rich? I mean, she is a self-made success from a Pilton block of flats, I think. Also her business practices like charity sponsors and community outreach, plus the living wage suggest she is miles away from a Jacob Reese-Mogg: “people should not be paid when taking time off”, sort of character. Who knows though, she may be for all I know.
  13. I never read the BBC interview though. Why would I? The coaching and management set up at St Johnstone is not particularly high on my list of interests, believe it or not! I listen to a few podcasts though, and both of those referenced it, so I thought I would mention it. If it is old news then apologies everyone! I will make a greater effort to make sure I find all the sources next time! Oh… and Levein is one of the biggest Tory Unionists around. Probably why he felt so at home at McDiarmid Park.
  14. I don’t just listen to podcasts to find out about St Johnstone’s coaching set-up though. Just an observation as it happened to come up.
  15. I have PTSD and serious depression and anxiety. I refer to myself as mental all the time. I like to refer to it as “when I meant mental.”
  16. Would not expect so. Really not sure though. I suspect Joe Savage probably is, if he qualifies as a football person?
  17. From listening to the Scarves Around the Funnel podcast, it seems as though Levein is doing things similarly to his time at Dundee United, and Andy Kirk’s role will be more than that of a regular Assistant Head Coach. Get the feeling he will be like Peter Houston and primed for a manager’s gig. Levein seems to have a bit of history with sort of set up. I think he sees himself as somewhere in between a manager and a Director of Football. On the Sacked in the Morning podcast, he goes on to say that he regrets not letting coaches in his previous gigs have more say and day to day control. Levein will set the game plan, but I think we will see a bit of Kirk’s football philosophy here too. Either way, it should be interesting.
  18. I am missing this one because the missus has a birthday spa weekend. I would have actually quite liked to have gone! Be nice to see another home win this season, and this seems like one we might just about squeak.
