  1. Yep, Airdrie are the Sevco Mini-Me. In more ways than one.
  2. Why is it important to read 1984? 1984 explains the divide between the privileged class and the poor. The main character is described as part of the privileged class; he works for the government. His job is to erase and change history constantly so that no one know what truly happened, which is supposed to prevent an uprising from the people.
  3. That would have been in the Championship, we are in League 1 now so not comparing like with like. We have seen an improvement in performances under McGlynn but not a massive improvement in results.
  4. Meaning of through thick and thin in English through thick and thin idiom C2 If you support or stay with someone through thick and thin, you always support or stay with them, even if there are problems or difficulties:

  6. Good news folks, Higgys been out for a couple of weeks so we won’t have to put up with his torn face and uncalled for rage and anger. He's such a tosser that he won’t be missed. Cardle will probably come on as a sub, there should be an opportunity to tell him to f*ck off as he warms up, unless he hides over on the Grangemouth side of the stadium. Kelty’s form has been as poor as Clyde's over the past five games. I'd expect a result for Falkirk but as they are Fifer w*nkers they are capable of coming here and giving us something. I don't think they'll bring many through(as per usual) but a game under the floodlights in front of what should be a good crowd against a side that we could still face next season is quite appaling.
  7. Arses need kicked, players need dropped. The argument about keeping a winning team together on the park no longer stands, some of the fringe players deserve to be given a decent run out, I hope to see Burrell and Lawal in the navy blue on Friday.

  9. This. We won the cup on 20th April 1957 and I was born in the August of that year. I had to wait until my 40th year to see us play at Hampden in a Scottish Cup final and the b*****d was played at Ibrox instead! I was at Hampden for the League Cup semi final against Partick Thistle in 1971 but as is our want we didn't turn up that evening. You youngsters that have seen us in finals in '97, '09 and '15 and semi finals in '98 and '23 (until now, here's hoping) are so lucky. Please, savour every moment, don't take it for granted. Our achievements as a provincial club in getting to so many semi finals in the last 30 years must be unrivalled. Any stattos out there with details on this?
  10. If you can't dig up any enthusiasm for the semi-final and potentially a final, maybe you should consider that these unbudgeted for additional monies could go a long way to securing the future of our club, prevent us having to go part-time etc. Surely that is something that you can build up some enthusiasm for and is worth celebrating?
  11. Try and put a positive spin on it. The club is crying out for money and many if not all of us on here are gladly donating to the FSS and asking for nothing in return. In your mind just say to yourself that the extra £13 or extra £3 that you are paying over the odds is a donation to the FSS but at least this time your getting a semi final to watch for your donation. Plus think of all the dosh that the Ugly Sisters' fans are giving us.
  12. This in spades. A big deal was made of the situation with the QOTS fans so they have to be identified and kicked out asap. It will be a highly charged game and we don't want them in among our fans.
  13. Just found this on YouTube, really captures the atmosphere and emotions of the night, especially at full-time, that you don't get on Falkirk TV (not a criticism of Falkirk TV). Enjoy!
  14. And if you come to the game we'll have the horse's ass in the stadium too.
  15. If I was a multi-billionaire with money to burn I'd buy both the Arse Cheeks and amalgamate them! Their fans would go apoplectic and stop attending, the new club would go bust and Scottish football would finally be competitive. We can all dream, can't we?
  16. If only we had something akin to the draft system like in the NFL, it would make the leagues so much more interesting.

  18. I loved Brockville as much as the next fan (see my earlier post) but we have to acknowledge that it was of its time. In fact, at the end, it had gone past its time, it was a dump (see Cappielow and Somerset Park). I think that the consensus on here is that we are unhappy with TFS but neither do we want a Lego Land stadium like St. Mirren’s. The preferred option would appear to be a smaller version of Tynecastle but that ship has sailed and we have what we have. Therefore, we have to make the most of what we have. So, let us do a SWOT analysis: Strengths 3 sided stadium Located slap bang in the centre of Scotland Easy access via the motorway network Plastic pitch Weaknesses 3 sided stadium Lacks atmosphere Plastic pitch Opportunities See strengths. As we have seen in the past we have an ideal stadium, location, pitch and accessibility for concerts. We just need to hope, indeed I would suspect, that the sales and marketing team who are doing a fantastic job are already on to this, contacting acts and agents and proposing TFS as a venue for the next few summers. Helps plug the annual £400K hole that we keep talking about. (Because of the above,*heresy alert* I am not totally opposed to remaining a 3 sided stadium for the foreseeable future due to the additional funds that it can generate. However, I acknowledge that the “empty space” that is the 4th sided of the stadium needs to be dealt with to improve atmosphere and noise on match days). Threats Lack of atmosphere on match days Surely it would be possible to erect say a 60ft high “wall” of scaffolding along the length of the pitch on the Grangemouth side and then cover it with some navy blue, industrial strength, heavy duty nylon sheeting or such like? Then emblazon it with a humungous COYB logo. Not unlike the Rayo Vallecano wall proposed by @Bairns1994Have some holes poked in it to allow the wind through so that it doesn’t collapse in a storm. Easy enough to take down at the end of the season for the music concerts. If / when we get to the Premiership we could then install some terracing over there and that could be our Ultras special place where they can bang their drums to their hearts content.

  20. Remember the Arsenal fans mural when Highbury was being redeveloped? If we don't use it for advertising, maybe get a fans mural done but sell "faces" on the mural? Pay your dues, send in a photo and you get your fizzog on the mural. Help raise funds for the club.
  21. This. Blood 'n' snotters football, standing not sitting, jam packed in the Hope Street End, almost all the home fans singing, the standites stomping their feet, kids battering the advertising hoardings and me praying that that hot sensation running down my leg is Bovril.
  22. I would love a scaled down Tynecastle - Fans close to the pitch, corners of the stadium filled in to "hold in" the atmosphere and noise, steep-ish seating to ensure fans have a good view. Nice.
