Remember watching Kingsley in a few games towards the end of his time with us and him playing at Centre Back and he was absolutely strolling it there and thought he might one day be a CB at a higher level but obviously LB is his more natural position.

Is sibbald ready for the premier league?
He has the skill but if he had pace to go with his skill he would be playing down South. IMO at present he is definitely good enough to be a regular starter for a bottom six Prem team and a good squad player for a top 6 side but other Falkirk fans will probably differ in opinion. I may be way off the mark. He has been a great servant and it will be a sad day when he eventually leaves. Maybe he will flourish more in a better team. At times his skill is different class for this league and many MOTM performances. Love the boy!0 -
Tbf a lot of our fans are simpletons.
Instead of slating fans all the time as thick as mince come up with some radical ideas of your own. Who is going to play where next season? What sort of formation? Who should we be looking at to strengthen? You obviously profess to bring a connoisseur of our beautiful game, so indulge me??0 -
The third option it was hippo's fault for being "honking" despite playing 11 minutes. Don't think this guy even watched the games.
Fair play, I've been caught out. I only go to 2 games a season if that and they are usually only the free games when it's bring a friend to the match with a season ticket holder. Couldn't even tell you how to get to the TFS cos I don't drive on the odd occasion I go.0 -
I would suggest it was more to do with Houston's cautious approach in the play-offs. He had the perfect opportunity to bring on Hippo at Tannadice, but chose to replace a tiring Sibbald with Taiwo and settle for the draw. And then in the second leg, he didn't bring Hippo until Utd had equalised and we were looking for a goal again.
Before the game we would have settled for a draw at Tannadice and so would have Houston to take back to the TFS. However it was plain to see we should have gone for the winner but Houston couldn't get it out his head that a draw was a great result and in the end it cost us. He should have been playing that match as he saw it not a pre conceived idea that a draw was satisfactory on the night!! A better manager would have gone for it!!0 -
he played 11 minutes over the two legs.
Should have been fresh from his ban but was mainly an unused sub, Houston obviously didn't fancy him! Why only 11 mins? Attitude? Craigen and McKee excellent but Hippo? Everybody on here was on about Hippo being fresh for the play offs and will do this and that. Needs to get his head down and become a regular starter. Can be a match winner on his day!-1 -
Love to see us sign a Ryan Flynn type with skill and pace on the right hand side. Loved to watch that boy back in the day!

Hippo was honking in the play offs. Needs to have a word with himself!! Hippo could go straight up front with Austin as another option but needs to be more consistent!!

Straight swap Hippo for Sibbald then!! Where is ur team Trump, need a laugh!!!!

Thomson
New RB Muirhead/Watson Grant Gallagher
New RM Taiwo McKee/Craigen Sibbald
Austin New Striker
I think Houston has McKee pencilled in for RM or interchanging with Craigen as we saw in the play offs. I think he is happy with our strikers. I think he is also happy with Muirhead at RB with Watson/Luca and Grant at CB. I maybe totally wrong but I think he is fairly happy with the makeup of the squad for next season which is very depressing considering we stumbled to 2nd due to the failings of others not anything outstanding we did! I don't think our current squad is good enough but I'm almost convinced Houston sees it otherwise and thinks we only need a backup keeper and a few squad additions, no major surgery!!0 -
To be honest I'd take whatever they offer for Craigen.
Can't agree, I think he will have a strong season for us next year if he is used correctly!0 -
Accies after Craigen and Sibbald.
You aren't helping my mood tonight. [emoji15]0 -
next season might actually work in our favour if Jack Ross leaves St Mirren for Dundee and with Foran being sacked at ICT and given Dundee Utd financial worries there probably never going to be a better chance for us.
I like your rational thinking there but this is Falkirk don't forget, we never do things smoothly. I dream we are 10 points clear by Xmas but in reality it will be another topsy turvy season with lots of highs and lows and the usual inconsistency. It would be boring any other way and very un Falkirk like. [emoji106]0 -
Will we ever see the day where we hear of a signing and go....WOW....never saw that coming....well done Houstie...........!!
Or am I in dream world?0 -
I take it back. Suppose someone needs to do the dirty work in every team and pass it to more creative players so Taiwo must be the answer. Just praying he isn't paired with Kerr now they have both signed.

Not impressed with Taiwo, think fans are deluded if they think he is the answer. When was the last time he provided an assist? Hasn't got a football brain like Sibbs or Craigen. Squad player at the very most!! Surely you have to have more about you than tackle, that's all he can do and very one dimensional!!

I think he just uses his home PC to look on the Hearts and Hibs website now and again when he can be arsed to see anybody they have released. Tudor Jones was a belter!!

I would say the best thing to get fans on board at this time of the year is with some solid signings to show a sign on intent from the get go, Kerr at CM again isn't making me rush out to get my season ticket.
100% agree. Let's see what happens in the next few weeks. Houston is due us a gem and an out the blue signing that no other manager thought of and beat everyone else in the league to! We can dream!! Lol0 -
We need to add quality and really go for it this season. None of this tippy, tappy, conservative, let's see it out, boring shite tactics from Houston. With Hearts, Hibs and Sevco gone surely we can't be scared of anyone and resort to negative, keep it tight football. Free flowing football and plenty of points on the board from the start next season will get the fans on board and increase numbers. Is this in Houstons makeup though or is it win at all costs and bore us all to tears!!

Glad Watson has signed, he is better than Luca. Taiwo is good at breaking up play and passing it simple so has his uses but adds absolute zero going forward, playing an incisive pass or breaking into the box. Kerr will need to be used sparingly. He is a squad player, nothing more. Wouldn't have been disappointed if they had both gone but Houston knows best.

IMO we need to buy another striker or preferably two. Austin is still very raw and inexperienced and has potential, that is all, O'Hara and Shepherd have done it for the U20s but still haven't proved anything yet in the seniors. McHugh has gone and Baird and Miller are past it, Miller good as a late sub but that's about all. Think Dundee Utd's Simon Murray showed me the other night what we have been missing for a few seasons now!! As everyone says depends what funds the board are willing to release!

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what us supporters think. Houston is a fan of Baird and Kerr and I think they will still be the mainstay of his team selections next season, depressing as that sounds!!

Seems to be more people willing to give Houston another opportunity to get us up from my very unscientific reading from twitter & on here. I will declare that I would prefer a change but think it unlikely. However interested to here if next season results in no promotion is that it for Houston? I know a lot of unknowns & his contract up anyway but genuinely want keen to hear people's thoughts. Basically promotion or cheerio for Houston?
If he decided to jack it in tomorrow or after Thursday's meeting I wouldn't lose sleep over it but I'm 100% sure he won't or the board will relieve him of his duties so let's see who he brings in over the summer and the first 10/12 games of next season produces but I really hope we play more attractive football and not be so conservative but I won't hold my breath!!0 -
I am curious why so many think Muirhead would be a better CB than Watson. I have not really seen that much evidence that he would be a more secure defender in that position?
To be fair there isn't much between Watson and Muirhead IMO I just think Muirhead deserves a run in the team at CB with a natural RB outside him if we can find one. Luca is 3rd choice as a partner for Grant IMO.0

Houston does really frustrate me at times and this season is his last chance saloon IMO but some of the performances under Pressley/May/Holt were brutal. Try going to Cowdenbeath away and not seeing a shot on target from us in 90 mins. Or watching Burton O'Brien squaring it or passing backwards for the 20th consecutive time in a match! [emoji15]
