  1. Hoping that Inverness can do us a favour and take something from United this weekend to set this up perfectly and help make it a shot to nothing for us. Even if not, it’s still a game we should go in to with confidence. Law of averages would make me think that Rovers can’t rack up another victory in this fixture but then again I thought the same just before we beat the Pars for the 5th time this season. Ticket stuff is daft but pretty sure whatever the number of Rovers fans there they will generate a great atmosphere.

    Arbroath 5

Interesting to see us creeping back up to the top of this form table. Shows how we’ve steadied the ship since January/February. Also reinforces how much the points are being spread around teams. We’re joint top with plenty of points to play for. We’ve lost five league games all season. We’re guaranteed a play-off if we don’t get above United. Time for Rovers fans to get behind the team and just enjoy it.

  3. Strange that this is two days away and no match thread. United’s result on Friday will determine whether or not this is another must win for Rovers. Feels like our confidence and belief is coming back a bit after our wobble, but with Queen’s Park definitely a tougher prospect than earlier in the season then suspect it'll be tight. Would take another 3-2 with an injury time winner.

  4. Great win yesterday. If we can follow it up with another win at Firhill it’d be brilliant. Not going to be easy though. Tuesday feels like another must win or at the very least a can’t lose.

A bit frustrating at how the fixtures are scheduled as their midweek game has left us playing catch up a bit. United also play first next weekend and have a game the following Saturday when we don’t. So they’re getting opportunities to stretch their lead. Would prefer to be a point behind them putting pressure on them than having to always reduce a four point gap. Great to be in the mix at all though

A tweet earlier from Dylan Corr earlier with the football and bin emoji. Now deleted

That’s a shame if he’s been released. Never really given a chance.

I’m pretty much where everyone else is. Getting above United was always unlikely given their budget so to have given them a run for their money has been great and still not over yet. Even if we are in the Championship again then I’d trust Potter and Murray to sort out the defence and put us in a decent position to challenge again.

I think we are better than that in some areas and worse in others. Our attacking players are very good for this level. However our defence is a mess and last night showed a poor mentality to see out a game.

This is pretty much spot on. Keep our attacking options and strengthen the defence for next season. With a better mentality and less tinkering week to week.

  7. We were probably never going to win the league with our back line. The Ashcroft injury is a huge blow as he might have added some quality and stability in there, but the rest just aren’t strong enough. The fact we’ve conceded more goals than the teams in 8th/9th says it all. You can blame systems or players further up but a lot of it is on the quality of the defense.

At this stage of his career Watson was always going to be hard to keep fit for consistent periods so even though he’s solid when playing the length of time he’s been out makes him a poor signing. Murray also wouldn’t feature in a Championship best centre half’s list. And Millen/J Brown/Dick are pretty bang average too. Big Kev has been brilliant at times and a car crash at others.

The reality is that we had an incredible first half of the season which has put us in an incredible position. Since Tannadice we’ve reverted to what we probably all expected at the start of the season - an average or slightly above average Championship team. Hard to get too annoyed about that. It’s only the raised expectations from the first half of the season that’s making things feel much worse.
  8. Constant changes in the line up is killing us. No consistency, no chance to build understanding. It’s just shuffle the deck every week and hope for the best. Dropping Stanton was madness. Also, being unable to keep the same back four fit is an absolute killer when you’ve got Kev in goals. Wouldn’t have any confidence getting through the play-offs with our defensive record.

Can't blame any Rovers fan for being anything other than utterly fizzing after that.

Maybe it was the journey home but can’t find the energy to be fizzing. It’s just so typical Rovers that it’s actually slightly comical. Nice to know that even with all these marquee signings our ‘start you believing then crash you back down to earth’ DNA is still intact.

Bizarrely the title race is still alive even if United win tomorrow. Although, if United can’t get the better of this Rovers team between now and the end of the season then they should probably be relegated to League One.

Torn between five and six…if we can’t absolute ride this lot dizzy Friday night, we’re gubbed in the chase for the League…but I’m still worried!

Anyone expecting a bucketload against Arbroath is a fool. We don’t win by a bucket load and teams very rarely get humped two games in a row. Would take a one goal win right now.

If or when Dundee United win the league I'd imagine there will be a lot of regret on your part. So many chances to go above them or push on with the lead you had around Christmas, and you always seem to never capitalise on their slip ups. I say this with no malice as I'd actually prefer you guys to go up over them

Tempting to feel some regret, particularly at dropping soft points at home. In the last six home games in the league we’ve dropped points against Morton (2), Inverness (3), Queens Park (3), Arbroath (2) and Ayr (2). Even just a few of those converted into a win or draw and we’d have a nice gap over United. But the reality is this is Raith Rovers in the Championship we are talking about. We aren’t going to win every single game so just thankful that United haven’t gone on a run either or it’d be over. We still have an outside chance so here for it as long as that lasts. Same goes for play-offs. If we do end up in the play offs wouldn’t be over confident about beating any of Partick, Morton, Airdrie or Ayr comfortably. Will be an absolute battle.
