  1. The same allegation about Colville paying players gets brought up every few weeks and if my memory is correct I don't think any evidence to back it up as ever been produced. Mick has always answered these and must be tired of repeating himself. He done something different to what most amateur clubs do by scouting and then approaching players across the west and central belt. I am not 100% sure what is sales pitch was but reckon it would be along the lines of come to Colville and win some majors. If players thought they had a better chance of winning the big cups then if it suited them then sure they wouldn't have minded the additional travel. When he left to go junior along with the core of his squad then easy to understand why the remaining players have jumped ship
  2. I would imagine the team they were drawn to play against will be awarded the tie. It's hard to blame the players for moving in my opinion. Said it before but they would have had no affiliation to Colville and were there as Mick was able to persuade them to go there and become the best amateur team in the country. When he left then it was inevitable a whole re-build was required. What I find surprising is they seem to be struggling to do that
  3. It doesn't sound good for Colville. Be a bit embarrassing for the amateur game if they do call it a day and don't take there place in the big Scottish. Fingers crossed they pull something out the bag and can continue. It just shows the challenges amateur teams face now if a team with there recent success are struggling to attract players...good luck to all involved with Colville now and hope you's find a way to keep going
  4. Eastfield seem to have racked up a few good pre-season results and think they will be team to beat. Harestanes impressed me last year when I seen them and the additions of the Colville boys will push them into contention. Bannockburn are always there abouts. St Pats have managed to keep squad together and added a couple from St Joe's I believe. There 2nd team had some decent players last season that won a couple of trophies in the greater glasgow so would expect one of two of the young boys to move up from there so reckon they should be stronger. Will be a really competitive league again and look forward to taking in a few games
  5. It was always going to be difficult for anyone taking on the Colville job this year due to the success Mick had but didn't think they would have any problems attracting players, especially with the inventive of playing in the big Scottish. From what I can see the big problem they have is none of the players, that didn't go junior but have instead went elsewhere in the amateur ranks, had no real affiliation to them. Mick cast his net far and wide to bring in some of the best players in the amateur game to the club and as soon as he left they were off as well. The 2 main amateur teams from down here tend to have mainly local players that have attended the secondary schools there names come from and are playing for the club's there brother, dad, uncle, grandad etc played for. They don't seem to bring in players from out with the area and that is maybe one of many reasons none of the majors have been in Dumbarton for a good few years. However they will always have a decent team and not struggle for players due to this.
  6. He is a cracking player, seen him a few times at amateur level and always a stand out. Does get involved in the verbals but he ain't going to change now so prob one of the things that Mick and rest of guys will need to put up with.
  7. Colville receive praise for there achievements over the last few years and I have also said in a previous post that I believe Mick has been a great ambassador for them. He is constantly on here fighting their corner for the abuse they get, which I do think is mainly down to jealousy. He will also take criticism when it's due. The social media posts by there player is only something I became aware of this week as the guy the bampot is targeting is a legend down here. Someone that is well respected in all levels of football and regardless of what this bampot has won in the game he will not achieve that respect. However I do not believe his antics on social media should be a reflection of Colville and I am sure the majority of their committe and Mick himself will be embarrassed by him. I seen from the exchange yesterday that he is also off to Darvel....unless the boy is a Messi or Ronaldo I would be having him nowhere near my team, he will only bring embarrassment to the club and would not be worth the hassle. Darvel seem to be well backed by sponsors from what I am reading and I am sure all the hard working businessmen that put their cash into the club will not be to happy about being associated with someone like that
  8. Agreed mate....I am sure Mick would rather the video didn't get made but he has called JR and that should be end of it. That wasn't something Mick had to do but have always found he has been a great ambassador for Colville on here so didn't expect anything less of him. Well done and good luck again with Darvel. Also good luck to the 2 teams in Fridays final...hope it's a good game to end the season and then all those involved with clubs can get there feet up for a few weeks and get a well earned rest
  9. I seen the video mentioned above and doesn't do Colville any favours. Can probably be put down to a few to many shandy's but you would think the lad that posted it would remove it when he sobers up before to many other people see it. I am sure it will be water off a ducks back to john
  10. I seen the game down in Dumbarton between the 2 teams a few weeks ago and seemed to be a bit of needle in that, so no surprise it carried over to this game. Could also add in the frustration both teams had from there results in Saturday as well. Sounded like an eventful game anyway and look forward to seeing there games next season
  11. Good luck to both Colville and Eastfield on Sunday. Regardless of result both teams have had an outstanding season and done the league proud.
  12. I am sure you will be fine mate....seem to be making some great signings already and you are good at building successful teams.
  13. Congratulations to Colville and Mick....league table doesn't lie and best team won it. Good challenge put up by St Pats, Eastfield and Bannockburn...been a great league to watch and definitely the best one in the country. Good luck to Mick in his new adventure and with the greatest of respect hope we don't see you back in amateur game...want you to be a success in the juniors
  14. 1 nil win for st pats tonight....2 massive away games left now against eastfield and bannockburn where they need the wins to secure the title.
  15. Bannockburn have had quite a hectic schedule and think that was there 3rd game since Friday. Looked a bit jaded to me and lost a couple of poor goals in 1st half. 2 good individual goals from the st pats forwards in 2nd half and were better team tonight. The 2 teams have still to play each other again and st pats will need to repeat that performance again if want to win the league
  16. 4-0 win for st pats...well worth there win tonight
  17. Finished 2-2....sounded like a good game. I would imagine Bannockburn will be happy with that result
  18. They may be able to monitor the individual clubs social media pages but would be an impossible task to keep tabs on all players and club officials. I am sure if someone was offended enough about a social media post to report it to the league then they would investigate but not sure what punishment can be handed out. It's up to the club's to reign there players in if they feel the need to
  19. I doubt the central league would have the resources to monitor what each player in there association is writing on social media and even if they did find anything untoward on this then what can they do about it? Do they have power to issue fines, point deductions etc. What I would say is the higher up the pyramid players, managers etc go the more their social media will be scrutinised and that's where they could find themselves in a spot of bother if posting anything controversial.
  20. Yes will definitely be an exciting end to the season and credit to all teams still involved in the title race for creating it. All 4 teams up there have been really consistent and just keep on picking up the results, despite some of them having hectic schedules.
  21. 5 of st pats last 6 games are away from home - Bannockburn, Colville, Eastfield, Wishaw and Southside. There 1 remaining home game is against Bannockburn. They have done well to grind out results in recent weeks but going to be difficult to pick up the points needed to win the league in their run in. Colville look to be flying the now and would say they are favourites
  22. Agree with that....st pats have points on board but I believe most of there remaining games are against the teams in latter stages of the majors - colville, eastfield, bannockburn - so long way to go. What might go in there favour is they won't have to many midweek games to play towards end of season. The teams chasing them will likely be playing Saturday, Monday and Wednesday which is a hard task
  23. Yes the 2 lads you mention were very quiet on Saturday but would credit Harestanes back 4 for that rather than them "shitting the bed". They tried to get into the game but nothing was coming off for them. What it did highlight is how reliant St Pats are on 1 or 2 players. If they are having an off day and opposition defence is on top they seem to struggle
  24. I reckon these 2 are just making a bad attempt at trolling and have no links to any team. Maybe when they get in from school and back onto the forum they might tell us who they are. Best just to ignore mate...yourself, Mick and all the other guys that help run amateur teams on here are doing a great job of keeping clubs going at a time when so many teams are folding.
