  1. I think AJ should perhaps register again as a player the way our squad and injuries is turning out.
  2. That looks like a really good signing. Let's hope he kicks on with us.
  3. Well really sad that we did not, or could not, push the boat out and re-sign Michael Doyle. I don't blame him if he has a better offer from elsewhere, it is after all a job and no doubt he has a mortgage to pay etc. I suppose the real annoying thing about Doyle going elsewhere is that he clearly liked being with us and I for one wish him well...but not against Queens!
  4. Absolutely agree regarding confidentiality but no news at all when some of last year's team are being signed by other teams is a bit hard to take. Yes we'll be able to field a team of that there is no doubt but what standard will the new signings be? Falkirk, from listings in P&B, are interested in Doyle and also Mark Durnan, both we would like to see back in our team.
  5. Losing Doyle to Falkirk would be a real blow. Okay we knew Dykes and Todd were going. We've lost Jacobs and Stirling to fellow Championship side, one being part time, and with the first week of pre season training almost complete no sign of any new players coming in. The support really needs some assurance that we're going to have a team that will be able to compete, particularly after last season. We must have pushed the boat out a bit to sign Holt and I think it would be folly not to do so for Doyle, who last year always put in a shift, particularly when others were posted missing. I appreciate that our poor crowds mean we are restricted on the size of budget but fielding a team of players other teams are not interested in will hardly increase our fan base.
  6. Well I thought we'd lost Jordan Marshall last year so, on the positive side, we had him for another year. I'm sorry to see him go but it was going to happen sometime soon. I'll be more disappointed if Doyle slips through the net and signs for another Championship club...that would be bad news. I'd also like to see Stirling back as on his game he's an asset.
  7. Hopefully we'll re-sign Doyle and Stirling and get a good experienced goalkeeper on board. Looks like Durnan is Falkirk bound as they splash the cash to get out of Div 1 at first time of asking.
  8. I would love to see Cammy Bell back at Palmerston. He has plenty of experience and would certainly be an improvement on Alan Martin
  9. I've tended to back the Board and the Manager over recent times but yesterday's performance is the worst that I've seen in over 60 years watching Queens. Okay I need a 200 mile round trip to get to home games so I don't see every game, but that yesterday was an absolute shocker. Not for one minute did I think the Manager's contract would be extended for another year but to sack him, with all the upheaval and uncertainty that brings to the playing staff, must be one of the worst decisions the Board could make. How the hell is that going to motivate the playing squad three days before another must win game? Even worse to let him go to end of season presentations, if that is indeed the case, and before that do a very frank and honest interview with Sandra.
  10. The only good thing the manager did today was take Dobbie off before then end to save him for the next two games, but that's all it will be, two games! On that display does anyone seriously think that team today can beat Montrose, Raith Rovers, Forfar? Like a few others I've defended the manager because of the small pool he has but that today was truly an awful display. I felt as soon as the first goal went in that was it. The team, except Dobbie and Doyle, chucked it. We keep on about Queens fans not turning out. Well today 2400 or thereby of the 3900 did turn out and what did they get? Not a lot. If there is a bright spot in all this and that is the possibility of Dobbie getting the goals he needs to take the record. I'm sure he, like the rest of us, would rather have us stay up.
  11. If we don't come out firing on all cylinders we'll be playing again next week. So let's get it done and dusted today. C'mon the South.
  12. Hopefully Josh will realise that he'd be best served by staying at QOS for now. He was with St Mirren last season and did not feature much. Here he's getting a chance to play and it is paying off for him and the club. I hope, like many others, that he will stay, sign a new contract and develop further.
  13. In the 60+ years I have followed Queens I have been fortunate to see many great players...Jim Patterson, Ivor Broadis, George Farm, Dougie Sharpe, Ian McChesney and many more. All were great Queens players. But Stephen Dobbie is without a doubt in a class of his own, both technically and as far as his commitment to the club. And he never forgets to praise his team mates for, as he says often, laying the ball on for him.
  14. Unless he's being offered a shed load of money then Livingstone is not really a great move for him. But at least, if the report is accurate, we get him back until the end of the season. Do we get anything from Livingstone due to his age etc?
  15. As much as I like him, and respect that his former club have the right to sell him to whoever is willing to pay their price, I still feel a bit irked that he'll be lining up against us in future fixtures. But totally out of our hands and I certainly would not want the Board to spend money that we don't have to keep him. Good luck to the lad, but not against us!
  16. A fantastic result up in Inverness yesterday which hopefully will help lift the spirits of the doom and gloom merchants. But aside from this result I think it is worth reading about the work the Community Team put in behind the scenes to promote our fantastic club (report on OS). What Dan and the rest of the team do every week working in the community with young and old sometimes goes unnoticed but it is nevertheless and important part of what Queen of the South are about. Well done to all involved.
  17. Like Kerr and Baird before him, Harkins has just shown he true meaning of the words loyalty and team spirit. Okay football is their job, but loyalty goes both ways. Had Harkins been injured (actually he was quite often) he'd have been quite happy to sit and collect his wages, which of course he's entitled to. Then we look at Stephen Dobbie. No way would he engineer a move away for more money. The guy has class. So please let us not mention Harkins in the same post as Sir Stephen.
  18. Not unhappy to see the back of him. I've seen him play for a number of teams over the years and, to me, he comes over as a lazy player. Fine when things are going his way but he won't bust a gut for you or, like some players, play through injury for the jersey.
  19. Just listened to Gary Naismith's post match interview which I found a bit strange. Yes disappointed that we did not win but clearly something, or someone, has annoyed him. When Sandra asked him what it was he was a bit cagey!
  20. Horrible is not the word I would use. Alan Martin has to be dropped, and soon. He's a liability.
  21. Spot on. Too many 'supporters' are only too happy to have a go at everyone...the Manager, the Assistant Manager, the players , the Directors...they seem to take delight when we have a crap result, and that was a crap result. This is when we really do need to rally round the team.
  22. There would be no chance of Sir Stephen calling off if called up by McLeish...and he's picked a few players who could not lace Dobbie's boots!
  23. It's usually sunshine that makes me happy but this news makes me forget the crap weather. He is defo a one off. Could earn more elsewhere but he's got a love for the club that knows no bounds. The people of Dumfries should all turn out for the Falkirk game and pay homage to a true legend.
  24. Hopefully Tommy is going to loan us some players before the cut off date!
