  1. There's not one manager in the UK who could turn this lot round so anyone, even in jest, suggesting Marv out or any similar comment needs to get a grip. When you get players like McKenna (if indeed he can be classed as such) who it was reported was standing last week with a can of beer, in his club strip, watching his team mates play then you realise the standard of 'player' we have on our books. The rest of this season is now preparation for next season.
  2. We have more than our fair share of underachievers so why show interest in Muirhead, who clearly has a chip on his shoulders. No chance of him going the extra mile for Queens. I'm sure Marv will have his eye on some new talent rather than bringing people who left us years ago.
  3. So inmates at Carstairs do have internet access after all!
  4. Perhaps we paid East Kilbride an incentive to take him! But the mere fact that we signed a new goalkeeper would make him realise his time was up (overdue). And Sandra's interview after the Kelty game pointing out he was not popular with some of our fans would perhaps be a gentle shove.
  5. Totally agree with the comments about Dan Armstrong, the one bright star in the organisation. He seems to be involved in everything involving the club and we are, as has already been said, extremely lucky to have him. Just hope he gets full support from the Board.
  6. Yes I heard the same story so must be true. PS what time of day do you take your tablets and is this with or without alcohol?
  7. Just listened to the post match interview with Charlie Cowie. He comes across as someone who has learned from his loan spell and I just hope that the management team give him a chance in the first team. He's surely a better option than Currie and will hopefully be given his chance. Okay he didn't require to do much but the only way we'll know if he's up for it is to play him regularly.
  8. In the last two seasons he's been with a relegated club...hopefully his trebled won"t come up. When he's good, he's really good, unfortunately a rare occurence.
  9. It will be interesting to see if any applicants are in the stand today. With most teams in the SPFL not playing today there's an ideal opportunity for an applicant to see what he would be in charge of...or is that a good thing? Or perhaps the BOD have concluded their search and an announcement will be made after the game. But with the transfer window open tomorrow we really need to get someone in soon.
  10. Going by his post match interviews it was clear that WG listened a lot to Grant Murray and leaned on him. I doubt therefore that appointing Murray as manager will sort out the under performing group of players we currently have. I think we need to bring in someone new and there is always the option of keeping Murray as assistant.
  11. Like many sorry to see Willie go but results and the impending court case made it relatively easy for the BOD. At least they've taken action and did not hang on like they did with AJ. Sad fact of the matter any manager we appoint who does well wont last long as someone else will snap him up. No one has mentioned Tam Courts, ex Dundee Utd and Honved, he's out of a job and might just fancy swapping the Danube for the Nith!
  12. The goalkeeping position is, as many people told us, going to be a problem. Currie is good at some things but he's far from the complete article. He reminds me of Antell. Unless we sign an experienced goal keeper success this year will be avoiding relegation. Two points out of nine is relegation material and unless we make a change soon we're going to be in trouble. Okay goalkeepers get the blame when the defense need to have a look at themselves but I have zero confidence in Currie. Still think, although lacking in experience, we should have stuck with Charlie Cowie. Surely he is better than Currie and will be wasted at Glecairn. I'd be more forgiving of him than I am of Currie. Get him back Wullie.
  13. WG suggested Irving shouldn't have been let go in the first place. It will be interesting to see, as the season progresses, whether we got rid of some local lads too quickly and who are doing well at Annan. I also hope Charlie Cowie gets a good loan club to help in his development.
  14. Nothing changes except the league we are playing in!
  15. Must admit for the first time in a long time I'm feeling upbeat as the new season approaches. WG has been quick off the mark getting players signed up and the news today that Gordon Marshall is now the goalkeeping coach and Robert Kielty appointed as a consultant sport scientist and head of fitness, together with input from Stirling University, is all very positive. Clearly the Board are looking to get back to the Championship at the first time of asking. I suppose this begs the question that why didn't we put in this effort last season? Perhaps changing manager so late on was more to do with contractual matters or maybe the thought was to go down, rebuild and establish a sound foundation to progress thereafter. The game against Hamilton, not a team we do well against and now managed by an ex player, will show us if the Raith game was a one off...hopefully not.
  16. I did the same...pastures new. While it'll be nice to see us winning games we'll be up against some really good teams so it certainly won't be like the last time in this league. Just a pity Annan didn't make it to add a little more edge to the campaign.
  17. As far as I can see Cameron is still a Killie player and not on the list of frees. God knows what they see in him but looks like he'll be loaned out to another club next season, and probably achieve a treble and get them relegated also.
  18. I wouldn't imagine Cameron and Connolly would be snapped up quickly by a Championship team as they both have a dubious track record...successive seasons with a club relegated from the Championship! Connolly has really gone off the boil and I wouldn't be that bothered if he went elsewhere. Okay he scored a few crackers, but only a few.
  19. Wullie's interview after yesterday's game just shows what many of us knew all along that he has a love and passion for the club and a desire to take it forward. He has a connection with the club but was dealt a shit hand. A squad that was not good enough in August didn't get any better. The front two yesterday are awful. Del Boy and Dobbs, had they been here yesterday, even at their stage of playing, would have caused more problems to Ayr. Not until Paton came on did it look as though we could score. The January signing window, that has helped us before, was a disaster. The Directors, for whatever reason, took too long to change manager. So what of the future? Bring in one of the usual failed suspects from the manager's merry go round? Someone who has recently retired but yet untried who knows nothing about the club? Okay Wullie didn't pull it off, I doubt whether top managers from the Premiership would have done much better. So I hope the Board appoint Wullie, give him a contract for a year and let him build his own team.
  20. Turquoise for me also then, sky blue, patterned yellow, yellow and gold. Turning to the post match interviews I just find them so refreshing compared to the AJ monologue. Willie Gibson has been a breath of fresh air and has surprised me by his post match interviews. Certainly gives the impression that he is the man for the job.
  21. Great interview with Willie Gibson after yesterday's game. How refreshing to hear our manager talk with passion, something missing since Gary Naismith left. He's given us more information about the team in the last week than we've had all season. For sure we won't go down without a fight and that continues next week. Hopefully Willie can get the best out of this squad, no easy task.
  22. I for one am relatively happy to let Willie Gibson have time to see if he can rescue us from relegation. If he can pull that off give him a contract, he's certainly got experience of coaching methods in a number of clubs over the years. Interesting this morning with the news that Jim Goodwin leaves St Mirren for Aberdeen. Many names listed as a possible replacement for him but nowhere is AJ mentioned, which is hardly a surprise.
  23. Actually to save time, and effort, QOS TV could use that interview after every game. Beyond depressing.
