  1. If Clyde survive one would hope lessons will be learned and yes ex Maitland massive change is needed. There is no point just firing people for the sake without better alternatives but most of the Board should go. If its the worst, and frankly winning the playoffs will be difficult against probably EK who will be confident, massive change is also needed again ex Mailand who I hope sticks around. The loss of income will be massive and unless the mystery donor coughs up it will be a slog. The lesson from the others relegated to the LL is without money rebuilding would take time. That said other clubs have largely held their support and I guess that will broadly continue thus Clyde would be one of the strongest in the league but keeping the donor is critical. I would say Clyde have a 50% chance of surviving - but they must go for it. Draws are now no good.
  2. Ultimately it is who wants it. Next weeks game is very winnable. But it has to be won, no ifs or buts. Elgin away, assuming it still matters, is tough. Again they have nothing to play for but the performances are too erratic to be confident. Sad situation and wishing you 100%.
  3. wow- that was neve biting. 10 minutes ago it looked grim. Bonnyrigg 2-1 up and a draw not much use to Clyde. Now its a real three horse dog fight. Ultimately down to guts and a bit of luck but the momentum is definately with Clyde. Looking at the remaining last four games next week Stranraer, Bonnyrigg and Clyde are all away with equally diffcult opposition. The game on 20th Clyde play Stenny who have nbothing to play for outside revenge for that humping. Stranraer and Bonny at home v mid table teams. Second last game we're at home to East Fife, Bonnyrigg away at Stenny and Stranraer away to Forfar. Perhaps Clyde have the easier tie? It may go down to the last day Bonnyrigg have the easiest tied on paper v Forfar, but Strarnaer play the champions Stenny and who knows how bothered they will be. The trip to Elgin for Clyde looks tricky. Clyde have a great chance now but I think we need to have pulled ahead before the last Saturday.
  4. Let’s not worry about Bonnyrigg. Let’s worry about Clyde. One point away at Peterhead and a win v Stranraer and probably off the bottom. Having been a lost cause it’s now up to Clyde. 4 wins and unquestionably safe, three wins almost certainly so, two wins totally reliant on others failing even more. keep the run up and Clyde will be safe but there is still a lot of football to play.
  5. watched on live stream. Decent second half but got to bury the chances and some snatched shots. Still all to play for but the onus remains on Clyde to keep the pressure up. This could easily go down to the last week! Live stream camera needs shifted in bright weather- very hrd to see the far side but good option if you live far away. What was the gate today - hoepfully a bit better than normal?
  6. Clyde is my second team. The reason I support them is when I lived in Glasgow quite a number of years ago I adopted them and used to watch them quite a bit. Why because there was no way I would support Rangers or Celtic ever, Partick was not for me and QP while a bit romantic was rather silly at Hampden. So it had to be Clyde particularly given their great but fallen history. The reason for the intro is I only watch Clyde very occasionally now (although a few times this season) as I live down south and very rarely away although I always keenly look out for their results and absolutely want them to prosper. Given the debate over the unfortunate altercation at the end as a very occasional this is my impression of the support on Saturday was as follows. 150 or so perhaps in the away end. Strong bias to grey hair but a fair few under 40 and some children. So pretty decent number but it was a critical game. This critical game starts as badly as could conceivably happen. Dreadful cock up 1-0 down. Defeat certainly means play offs and probable LL. I was behind the goal and with only one exception there was a passive resignation. No bad language, stoic acceptance. Given the importance of the game and the shocking nature of the first goal I might have expected more anger. It was pretty restrained with almost disappointed resignation. Second half totally different - support up for it big time after the goal and passionate but it was pretty old school(which I like) - decent banter and certainly no agro from the fans just delight at a decent performance. A little bit of goading but that comes with the territory and is part of the game so long as not as not offensive which it wasn’t. I have no idea if Clyde are the most hated team in the league or not but in my view the support given what they have been through over a long time is remarkably loyal, pretty stoic and good humoured. That’s one of the reasons I am keen to go along when I can and give a cheer.
  7. Given this was played at New Dundas Park I would love to have visited Old Dundas Park. That must have been quite something!
  8. Give Bonnyrigg a break. While their ground is very basic there is a sort of nostalgia around it and being literally 10 feet from where the keeper stands gives a completely different and interesting perspective on the game. Further it is great to see so many people supporting their local team. Bonnyrigg have a really decent support given the size of the town and far better they are loyal to their local club and not Celtic or Rangers. Sure there was a very disappointing incident at the end but leaving the ground the vast majority of their guys were decent and while disappointed pretty good humoured. it was a good game slightly marred by a stupid incident at the end. Clyde have something to celebrate, a real chance now of staying up now against all the odds of a few weeks ago if they ‘keep the heid.’ Good luck to Bonnyrigg so long as it is not at the expense of Clyde!
  9. Well just back from the game and thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have yet to see Clyde lose this season and that’s my 5th game if you count the Musselburgh one I saw on TV. was just behind the goal. Less said about the first minute the better but total balls up. First 25 mins really unimpressed- hoofball and no composure but gradually Clyde started to improve and look better than arise. Great performance in second half - super first goal by Jordan Allen and tenacious for the second. He looks sharp. Well deserved and outside the Bonnyrigg hitting the post they really did not look likely to snatch an equaliser. New Dunbar Park is perhaps the most basic ground I have ever been to but strangely I rather liked it. Proper football, no plastic fantastic, but their support were rather quiet. Good to see a good turnout from the Bully Wee and some passion. Game on now and the momentum is with Clyde and determination like that and the club will survive a near death experience.
  10. I hope I don't jinx thinks but going to the Bonnyrig game on Saturday- my fifth game (or fourth live). Still not seen Clyde lose this season! The Spartans draw , which should have been a win, away, Jeanfield and Bonnyrigg with the latter performance pretty decent at home and and then a pretty average performance v Musselburgh on TV. Pretty confidernt for another fine performance on Saturday I would say!
  11. Quite a few Peterhead and Spartans can't win the league but they have almost certainly made the play-offs, similarly Stenny might take the foot of the gas. I would say Elgin and Forfar are safe and while their is a bit of competityion betwen Dumbarton and East Fife that too is probably settled. Seven teams with not so much a stake and as Clyde showed a couple of wereks ago strage results can happen. That leaves three teams with lot a stake, Clyde, Stranraer and Bonneyrig. Bonneyrig are on a dreadful run and looks the second most vulnerable. If Clyde are to make it next week is certainly a must not lose and reslistically is a must win. Not over yet but Clyde must show grit and bottle.
  12. its dissapointiong but not termonal . Win next week and its 3 points but sure far from ideal. There will be a lot of strange results in the last seven or eight games as several teams have ittle to play for. Not over yet.
  13. Thanks and look forward to it. This will be the fourth game I have seen Clyde play. They have won the other three- Jeanfield, Bonnyrigg and Musselburgh (on TV) and have yet to see them lose!!! I can't understand why some of you lot who say the team are hopeless- the invincibles as far as I can see!
  14. Intending to go to the Spartans game on Saturday to support The Clyde! Do you know if you can pay at the gate or do I need to book on line? If so is it segregated with tickets for the Clyde end or not?
  15. Jimmy Choo It simply cannot be good for your mental health constantly spewing all these negative vibes. I have never seen you post one single positive post ever. Sure it may be too late for Clyde but it will be with your mentality. Back your team, six points is a tough ask but very far from insurmountable. You now have some strong committed management - amongst the best in the division. Back them or frankly find something else to do with your time for your own good.
  16. Happy New Year and best of luck for 2024. Clyde have given Scottish football so much over the years and it is very sad to see the club struggling. Upwards in onwards I hope! looking at the table all is not lost but team 9 looks like being on target to get between 30-33 points by the end of the season. Clyde really need to hit the ground running after the break, which is not easy with new players who might need time to gel. To be safe somewhere between 21-24 points are needed as a minimum off 19 remaining games. Luckily 3 of those games are against Elgin with one the last game of the season! An absolute minimum of 6 and probably 7 points are needed from those games. At last you seem to have guys who are passionate and level headed. I just hope they can turn it round.
  17. why are they so against it? Is it simply they believe it is worth more as housing or is it some other reason?
  18. I don't know the people involved on the Clyde board but there is a long pattern of very poor decision making over many years. Regardless of whether the club stays up this year, or not sooner or later disaster will strike unless there is root and branch reform. The club is heading for obscurity without major change. Its obvious and that in itself undermines confidence. While there remains some latent support (2ooo or so who pitched up at Broadwood for promotion and that's way more than many others could get) the core support is declining rapidly and with little ability to re-generate new support. The club has lost its philosophy and reason to support and urgently needs to rebuild what it stands for. But with some money, as QP has shown, things can be turned around quickly but leave it much longer and it may be unrecoverable. The Board would be duty bound to show any serious bid to the shareholders- it is not a private thiefdom but a community company. The truth is homeless the club has zero value outside some modest value attached to SPFL membership which in itself is no longer a monopoly status. The Board need to be persuaded to let new people with some investment money run it. Outside investment is needed urgently to secure a stadium (perhaps Crownpoint) but I also think new people could attempt to negotiate with the owners of Shawfield. Given environmental concerns it is far from certain it will gain housing permission without a huge environmental clean up. It still may not be too late. The stadium is dilapidated but the stand probably is just about OK- the rest could slowly be renovated over time. Broadly if the club is to survive it needs a permanent home ( I still would leave no Shawfield stone unturned) but more than that the club needs to rebuild its identity and the support base. It needs to find a way to appeal, a quirkiness and purpose. Currently no one knows what the club stands for and that, given the clubs heritage, absolutely is the fault of those in charge (over many years). Time is short- thoughts on how seriously the Board/ support would react to a bid and how much is needed to achieve this if a new team is to be brought in? .
  19. Shawfield- think outside the box It strikes me many of Clydes problems can be dated back to the faithful decision, many decades ago, to lose ownership of Shawfield. The stadium is now semi derelict and the dogs have gone. Now the current owner seems to be applying to knock it down and build houses on it. The problem though for him is both planning and environmental impact which may, or may not, mean it happens. Clyde, even if they wanted to clearly cannot buy out the owner and return home if the owner believes he can build houses. The cost is too high. Crownpoint looks toy town to me but may be better than nothing but a return to Shawfield would be romantic and better still? With intelligence there may yet be a way, if your board and the support were minded, to return home. Think of Thord Lanark. Cathrin was going to be a housing estate when Thirds went down but against the odds it’s not. The council refused permission and it remains a park to this day. The value of Shawfield without relevant planning permission is negligible- in its current state possibly almost zero as the liability of the stands etc is a cash drain. If a petition was stated, supported by your board to ensure that Shawfield remained a sports field ie the council refused planning permission to build houses/ industrial what ever it just might be possible to buy the site as the value would be very low. Sure the terracing is dilapidated and the perimeter overgrown but I suspect the stand is still OK with modest investment and that would be big enough for now with scope to expand as and when fortunes improve. it’s a long shot but spike the sale with the council on the grounds it could be a community asset as a playing field, propose it’s open to the public for use and you might, just might get your home back. Tidying up and securing the perimeter is not big money. Own the ground and you have gone a long way to securing your future. If you think this a decent idea petition your board ASAP for if planning is given it’s gone forever.
  20. Firstly Clyde are a great club. You know the history greater than me but it’s an illustrious history. Sadly that’s a long time ago. Second for a variety of reasons there is probably no club in Scotland that has declined as much as Clyde over the last 50 years. Much stems from the loss of Shawfield and the total dominance of The bigots killing the good guys. Third, I agee that the Club is in very real structural trouble. No ground, little money, a largely lapsed support and a very weak current team. Their is a very real danger of obscurity if action is not taken and taken quickly. Their is clearly no easy fix. QP have shown that smaller clubs can rejuvenate but they got a windfall. As a Hibs fan I can also vouch they have outstanding leadership in the name of Dempster. Leadership is the key. .Frankly the current Board need to accept that while they may be doing their best they simply don’t have the resource or motivational or even branding/ marketing ability to succeed and need to seek external investment. They may be decent people but they don’t seem like leaders and they certainly don’t seem to have sufficient capital. Shareholders need to pressurise them to seek a new owner with the proviso of agreed capital injection. I would suggest you need a minimum of £2m to kickstart things probably quite a bit more and that’s a big ask, but frankly without it I am not sure where you go. Promotion showed there is still a residual goodwill to the club with well over 2000 in the ground. I suspect their remains a similar number of interested occasionals which is about enough to build something. But the shareholders need to urgently encourage the Board to find new external capital. It may not be possible but it’s the best, possibly only hope. You need a home (and I would still suggest Shawfield even if it is a state if it could be bought?). A club without hope is lost and sadly that is the current danger. The Board need to be told to get a move on .
  21. As a sympathetic outside be careful what you wish for. Sure nine losses on the trot is awful and it seems 50-50 straight relegation or play off unless thinks turn round quickly. The harsh truth is Clyde have underperformed for 50 years and without change the club is on its death throws. The lack of real home, poor leadership, lack of resources a declining and ageing support make breaking the cycle of decline tough. Lennon may be the lightning rod for anger but the real reasons are structural and lack of money. I would suggest you will find it hard to get a better manager than Lennon and simply dumping him will probably not turn things round especially as there is no money. There are no quick fixes but frankly if Clyde is to survive and I think that an open question on a 10/15 year view it needs to create a culture and a reason to support the club. Getting a sustainable home is part of that and any home needs a wider infrastructure- pubs/ cafes / atmosphere etc . Perhaps Crownpoint meets it but I doubt it. If it was my call I would move heaven and earth to reclaim Shawfield. Sure the terracing my not meet standards but start with the main stand (big enough for most games) and expand gradually if need be. Allied to this is the need for new capital- an owner prepared for pump in cash. That may or may not be possible but frankly without it the current structure results in an unsustainably small base. I hope Clyde turn it round- but unless the structure is right- reason to support/ stadium and finances sooner or later the buffers will be hit. But if you do get it right recovery could be quicker than you imagine. There is still residual goodwill support for Clyde, a lot a lot fading tradition, not being the old firm and success breeds success. Lennon is the symptom not the cause.
  22. Well, well, well I didn’t expect that! Saw Clyde against Hibs and to be honest was pretty disappointed in Clyde outside the first 10 minutes or so. But a decent result v Morton and now today. Fantastic and hope you build on it. Regardless of what happens over the next few months get behind Danny Lennon. He’s the man- you won’t get better
  23. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Loyalties marginally torn as used to watch the Clyde occasionally when I lived in Glasgow 20+ years ago but this will be the first time seeing the Hibees play the Bully Wee. Hibs fans getting a bit more bullish about the season after a few years on the down. We will see. Hope for a decent game and given the first game with new teams hard to predict. Clearly Hibs favourites but first game new manager etc…. Will Clyde likely bring a decent support through?
