  1. Had no idea this forum was still going and stumbled upon it earlier. As of today, Glasgow Uni relegated from Caley Premier. Dumbarton win and EKYM defeat stretches Dumbarton’s lead at the top with Thorn, Giffnock and Glasgow Harp also still in contention, albeit the latter two have a lot of games still to play. Dalziel, Milngavie, Cambria, Strathclyde Uni and Wishaw WW all scrambling to try and avoid the last couple of relegation places. St Joseph’s, Doune and Cambusbarron all promoted. Doune have one league game left against Rothesay at home so imagine Doune will win the league outright.
  2. Where are Donner from? Who do all their boys play with on a Saturday? Who do the Haggs boys play for on a Saturday?
  3. Could not agree more. Genuinely interested about the world of Ayrshire amateur fitba but this is pathetic (or embarrassing, as previously stated).
  4. Think we’re all pretty much in agreement troops. Likely they’ll take a leaf out of Castlemilk’s book for next season, I imagine. Sure one of the boys who runs the Gow has an account on here and can give us their take on it. In other news, Harvester playing Wishaw United (largely comprised of all the young lads born 1997-1999 who used to play with the Wishaw Wycombe Sunday team). A decent enough young team but Harvester will probably have too much experience for them.
  5. Just because the big teams in big games get big crowds doesn’t mean it’s any less embarrassing, unfortunately.
  6. Hard one when you’re playing both a Saturday and a Sunday, especially with mostly the same squad for both days. Very difficult to prioritise given how good they’ve been in the Sunday leagues for the past two seasons or so. If they don’t get to the latter stages of the big cups, I wouldn’t be surprised if they wrap their Sunday team next season and solely focus on their progression through the Central.
  7. Ayrshire amateur football is quite embarrassing, isn’t it?
  8. I don’t think Lesmahagow will struggle for a team on a Sunday if they get to the latter stages of the big trophies. When the core of last year’s Sunday team are there every week, they’ll be as good as anyone.
  9. Bearsden allegedly fielding an unregistered player.
  10. Must be frustrating for the good sides in the Airdrie and Coatbridge setup with teams chucking it as soon as the going gets tough. Really feel for the Bullfrog and Lesmahagow in particular who’ve faced the same nonsense for two or three seasons now. Bullwood a good addition to the league in terms of player quality. Be good to see who wins the Sunday Trophy this year in the absence of a dominant Castlemilk.
  11. Good to see Netherton finding their feet quite quickly in comparison with other new teams from North Lanarkshire in the past few seasons. Cleland and Newmains taking a season or so to find their way, taking 6, 7 and 8 nil pastings every week, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Netherton. Perhaps the folk running them have learned due to the involvement with founding other teams. Good to see. Have UB got back on track? Seen they were really toiling pre season (as a lot of teams do). Good news if they have.
  12. Keeper training groups would probably be quite useful for a lot of teams/goalies in the Central Belt. A position that doesn’t really get a lot of attention at training at most teams which is unfortunate. Would be interested to hear if there are any groups for 21s/amateur goalies to pass on the details to a few boys from Lanarkshire who’d enjoy a few GK sessions.
  13. Most notable results in the West is probably St Joe’s being knocked out and Motherwell Thistle defeated as convincingly by Parkhall from the division below them. Given their poor start to the season, Glasgow Harp beating a Drumchapel PYM team is maybe a bit of an eye opener as well. Most other results fairly expected, I’d say.
  14. Their game with Wishaw High during the week got called off at short notice as well. Don’t know if it’s anything to do with being able to get players or whatever but you’d imagine both are linked.
  15. Apologies mate. Didn’t realise that was the case.
  16. Brilliant constructive comment there mate. You’re the reason this is a fantastic platform for discussion.
  17. All sorts of (malicious?) rumours floating about that Colville won’t see the end of next week after today’s result, which was a conclusion a lot of folk came to a few weeks back of course. In other chat, How are Dynamo and Lesmahagow finding playing both Saturday and Sunday? Is the Saturday performance affecting the Sunday performance? A 6 hour round trip to Oban on a Saturday is bound to produce some casualties.
  18. I actually wear Caley league glasses and only have an interest in the Central because I’ve a few mates that play in it but if that fits you ‘in the know’ rhetoric then by all means fill your boots. A lot of dancing around facts on this forum in case people’s in the know info doesn’t transpire or evolve to be the truth and it’s quite weird to be honest. Can only presume you mean Falkirk Community, as if that was a difficult few letters to type.
  19. Does anyone know if Drumchapel Possil have strengthened/changed much from last year? Caught their game at the Green last night and thought they had a couple of cracking individual players - particularly in midfield - but just didn’t gel as a team, which makes me think they’ve maybe brought in some new bodies, or are missing some. I seen they got skelped 9-1 last weekend off Wishaw WW and only 3-2 off them last night but don’t think the 9-1 was at all indicative of their current state.
  20. Can’t disagree with too much of that. Think Harestanes will probably be up there or there abouts in the Central. Any reason for not thinking Dumbarton Accies won’t be up there and Wishaw will? I also think Giffnock will be strong this year. Between Wishaw, Thorn, Dumbarton and Giffnock I’d reckon. Don’t think East Kilbride can be written off completely either.
  21. Have Colville kept a hold of any of their main starters?
  22. Mad how folk can disagree to such a large extent [emoji23] Don’t get the hype over Stepps at all but each to their own.
  23. Glasgow Harp put a list on their Twitter of who they’ve signed so far. 90% of them playing with Cambria’s Caley team from last season. Presumably meaning a lot of existing Glasgow Harp players will be out the door. Don’t agree that Stepps is all it’s made out to be either, it looks good and all the rest of it but isn’t great when actually playing on it. Aye, it’s probably better than most of the grass parks (ie Wishaw, Dumbarton Accies, Thorn, probably Glasgow Harp, and the Glasgow Green parks Finnart occasionally play on) in the league but wouldn’t say it’s a outstanding by any stretch. Grass parks at Dalziel (I suppose it goes without saying, though rarely played on) are better, would say Giffnock’s is certainly up there, as are the Science Parks at GU. Milton’s grass park isn’t too bad either. Wouldn’t say Stepps is much better, if at all better, than any of those I’ve mentioned.
  24. Are Colville keeping any of their players? Have they brought in anyone new of note?
