I think £30k was mentioned as we were at loggerheads with United and it eventually went to a tribunal. I'm also pretty sure that we had a 10% or 15% sell on clause but unfortunately he left under freedom of contract when he went down South.

I've not got twitter, could someone post up a quick summary of what he's said.

I've got the general idea of course.............

No we've not, rarely in the 40 years since we left the top league have we thought there's the slightest chance of giving it a fright.

I wasn’t meaning the top league. That was way before my time. I was referring to being an established Championship (or old 1st division) club with a few good cup runs. Instead of being a yo-yo club between divisions.

I'd be hoping for a crowd of 2,800 at the minimum and hopefully nearer 3,500.

Partick should be bringing at least 800 - 1,000 down so surely we can manage at least 2,000 of our own fans. Looking at it, we managed over 1,200 of our own supporters in a midweek fixture in the middle of the holiday season against Stenny, so surely to god we can get in an additional 800+ on a Saturday for this match.

Thinking back to our good runs in the Championship, I'm sure it was the 90 -91 season where we were top around Christmas with big Ally banging them in and Greg Shaw coming off the bench to score in every match. Unfortunately the dream was dead by January, however we did have some great memories like the comeback at Cappielow and Cally signing off with a 30 yard screamer. "Geordy Burleys Black & White Army".

This season coming feels very much like the good days are returning..............

Was only very young back then but still remember Graham and Shaw. Did that shitebag Burley not swap them both to Falkirk for Sam McGivern? Broke up one of the best strikeforces in the league for a twat that refused to play against ‘them’ in the cup. The game we got beat 2-1 and Henderson scored a diving header for us.

Yeah, mum had a shot of my phone there. Had to edit it to say it was her. I will now hang my head in shame.

Quick change of subject, what the f**k has happened to Kirkcaldy? Anybody else read the scores and laugh?

Think you should hide your phone then lol.

I did laugh but it did scunner my coupon for £500 odd quid.

All the players looked very comfortable on the ball yesterday, were settled in their surroundings and most certainly did not look out of place for a team just up against a team just down from the Prem.

I think McCall can maybe smell a wee bit of cash from the next round to hopefully pay for another player.

I really hope we can get between 2,000 and 3,000 home fans next week. I know it will be a big ask for a number of reasons, but this team is well worth it, deserve it and it will be great to show that we are a club to take seriously.

    Roll on Flag Day!!!

I hope so too mate. Seems every one of my mates have went and got season tickets although a couple of them can only make the odd game.

Absoloutely loving the buzz just now. In over 30 years of supporting Ayr through thick and thin this is a great feeling. Long let it continue.

Spoke to the Train ticket fella at Troon this morning, daily occurrence for myself. He supports Killie. Though he told me that he has heard rumours of Paul Quinn from Dundee United going to Ayr.

Dunno where he heard the rumours and i never asked many questions. Though it's my belief that Quinn has had a lot of health scares. Dunno if that would be a good signing. Anyone know anymore on this?

A Killie supporting train conductor in Troon, hope you checked you still have your wallet!

Nope not heard that one but heard we are still keeping tabs on Stewart at Airdrie. Especially as his dad is now a coach with us. However he signed a new deal with them so would need to pay a fee which I can’t see happening anytime soon.  Also Turner at Stranrank but he’s being linked with West Brom. That’s the only rumours I’ve heard and probably only a minuscule amount of truth in it tbh.

Sure McCall said a few weeks back that he expects another centre half to sign

Thought that was before the triple signing. If Higgins is fit soon I doubt it. Would prefer cover for LB.

(Including injuries) At RB we have Geggan, Ferguson and Rose if need be. CB Higgins, Rose, Bell, Adams and LB just Harvie....although Ferguson played on the left a couple of times last season. Haven’t really seen much of the academy players to know wether they’d be adequate cover. If only there was an ambidextrous defender somewhere, we’d be sorted.

Aye, we have a friendship with Feyenoord, last game they were over was a few years ago against Forfar and they were a great laugh. We’re also into Celtic though which lost them some points.

Aye, there’s a couple of Rangers fans that also go down.

The Feyenoord connection was between Ciar, Alan, Stevie hall etc. There was also one with Glentoran or crusaders.

Christ, who remembers the SRE rocking with the “shoes aff, sit down song” by the Feyenoord fans. Now that was funny.
