  1. So. After what always seems a Loooong International break 🥱, were finally back this weekend.

Our first chance to see what team the new manager will pick.

A very tough start away at top team Hamilton, so a free hit as everyone will assume we'll get beat.

Main thing he needs to work on is the defence, as we're far too easy to score against, and have been for a while!

Goes without saying, if we can find a way to start keeping some clean sheets then we'll give ourselves more chance to start winning a few games.

Edinburgh City do look to be circling the drain unfortunately. Would be no surprise to seem them back in regional non league in a few years. Seems a pity after so many worked so hard to get the club in the league. However royally shafted by the city council who don't seem terribly interested in having a league club as a tenant. Hope some solutions can be found, it has been really great having the name back in the leagues.

Sadly, I think you maybe right ✅

IF we stay at Meadowbank much longer, then we're going to sink back down to the Lowland league.

Currently, that's probably were we deserve to be!

There's No chance of increasing support at Meadowbank, and in fact it's a battle to even retain the small support we have!

    What can we do though?

    Not Many alternatives out there.

As for the new manager, TAM I think jokingly said Yogi Hughes, but he's exactly what we need just now, or at least a tough guy like him.

Loads of positives from our performance last week and hoping for the same this week.

We did play well in spells last week, and it looks like finally,  it's coming together and the first win (or two!) are not far away.

However, we still need to learn how to defend better and keep a clean sheet to give ourselves a chance.

Alloa will no doubt see this as an easy chance of a win, so there should be goals and an entertaining game.

Personally I admire Maybury and what he's done for the club. The Chairman's vote of confidence earlier in the week should give him a couple more games at least.

Can't fault what John and Colin have done for the club since the takeover  but they face a tough decision. Change the manager to try and stay up, or accept that relegation is likely, keep Maybury and focus on getting the framework right for next season.

So you think if Alan Maybury continues as manager then, we're definitely getting relegated?

I don't. We just need a win to get some confidence.

IF, we beat Cove then I think we'd go on a wee run and beat Alloa and Kelty as well.

We've really missed Fontaine this season and IF he gets fit enough to play a few 90 minutes then that would make a massive difference to us keeping some clean sheets.

For Cove, we'll I'm surprised to see them just above us as they're expected to be one of the top 4 teams and certainly in the playoffs.

They've some very good players, but so have we so I hope for a narrow home win to get us up and moving in the right direction.

We also must leave Meadowbank at the end of this season to survive as a club in my opinion.

That's an interesting point, and I absolutely agree with you! 👍

It's been absolutely dire at Meadowbank this season and I've only been to a few of the games.

Where could we go though? That's the huge problem.

Not many other grounds available in Edinburgh for us.

As a season ticket holder and foundation member I’ve been told by the club that new seating arrangements have been agreed with Edinburgh Leisure and Edinburgh Council which will take effect from the Falkirk game onwards

Apart from having to have Falkirk visit us, the rest of that sounds good.

    Because.....

apart from that it will be unallocated seats just like the Queens game

This unallocated seating that's been in place so far this season is an utter shambles!

Why did we even change the system from last season, where you went on the Fanbase app and could see what seats were available, which was good?

The old guy on the gate took 5 minutes to scan my ticket. Either terrible systems or a hapless individual. It was one of my worst away days. It was amateur night out

It's like that every week we're at home tbf.

We had a pre-season friendly with Hibs and everyone was queued round the block for easy 20 or 30 minutes trying to get in the two turnstiles.

To be fair though, to the few guys trying to run EdinCity these days, they're trying their best!

Nothing to do with the set up at Meadowbank is the clubs fault.

Its ALL on Edinburgh Leisure for providing that shite "ground" for our club to use.

A reminder that there's a Scotland rugger game on at Murrayfield tomorrow, so the trains/roads will be busier, in addition to the undesirable presence of rugby fans.

Aye. It's a big rugby match as well. Trains will be rammed full.

Don't forget also, the Edinburgh Festival has started! (Which is shite time for you's to visit. August.)

Finally found a team that had never seen him play.

I take it that's been in the pipeline a wee while? That's no a move you decide to make in 5 minutes!

Anyways, will City now be signing another goalie or do we think Cammy Quate will be sitting on the bench all season?

With the goalie situation changing and the new lad up top, I'm slightly more optimistic than I was a couple of weeks ago!

    5) Edinburgh City

Edinburgh City to surprise a few people again with some decent squad additions to be announced in the next few days.

Ruby, what happened to these decent signings that were being announced?

Unless they're all top defenders we're going down unfortunately.

I'd sign up for 8th place right now!!!

  11. City played well first half and would've deserved to go in 2-0 up at halftime 👏

That was encouraging as, on paper at least, we have a very poor squad this season and I'm expecting a long struggle all year.

Our defence is utter shite and Hibs strolled through easily second half.

Anyone know what's actually wrong with Liam Fontaine?, as we've missed him badly since March.

we defo still need minimum, a proper first choice goalkeeper, two proper defenders and a good striker to replace Robbo's goals. 🙏

This is silly.  It's far, far too early to be making predictions on this.

Agreed. Much too early to predict this!

So here are my early predictions for now, to contribute to this thread.

    1)  QOS

    2) Hamilton

    3) Falkirk

    4) Cove Rangers

    -------------------

    5) Alloa

    6) Montrose

    7) Stirling Albion

    8)Kelty Hearts

    9) Annan

    10) Edinburgh City

For me it's between Queens and Hamilton to win the title.

Hamilton making decent signings, but Queens improved massively once Marvin Bartley arrived last season.

At the bottom we, (Edinburgh City) must be odds on favourites to go down with the squad we have left, AT THE MOMENT!

Hopefully we replace Robbo and Craigen with better, or it's going to be a long season!

The promoted teams usually have momentum to do well, so Stirling and Annan should do OK.
