Dundee United yes. Dunfermline and Falkirk will have bigger budgets but, at the moment, would think they are sidewards steps.

Most Airdrie fans are not stupid. They are just enjoying this season and the manager. He will absolutely leave at some point. Hopefully not to someone like St Johnstone. It’s a tough one as if he makes the wrong move then could end up taking a step back. If he stays and has a shot season next season then might also look bad for him.

He comes across as very reasoned so I would think he will make the right decision.

McCabe has proved he doesn't need a big budget to make a good team ,some of the big money players just can't play as a team it's all about themselves ,

Not for me, McCabe's achieved far more in 2 seasons than Murray. You could argue that the club has transitioned from part time/hybrid to virtually full time which has aided McCabe.

Absolutely and the financial benefits are massive. Football finance analyst, Kieran Maguire, had an article last week revealing that the average wage in League 1 in England was £3600 per week therefore it wouldn't be a surprise for him to head South.

Play offs great achievement, promotion and he is gone for sure,

I’d put out a team like this

    Hutton
Rowley - McCabe (if fit) - ATS - reserves LB
    Dunlop - Aiken - G Gallagher - Donnell
    C Gallagher - O’Connor

McCabe and the medical team will have a better idea if any first team players still need some minutes to keep them fresh for the play-offs but not worth taking any risks with any key players.

Would have thought the young keeper needs all the games he can get, just my opinion but I would play more or less the team we have been starting with ,

Thought Airdrie were excellent tonight, completely dominated for around 70 minutes of the game. I felt our subs weakened us but can't really fault anyone tonight.

I really like the look of Arron Lyall, has the potential of turning into a really good player and I'm hoping he's one that we are considering offering a contract to for next season, regardless of what league we're in.

Some of the football in the first half was some of the best I've seen us play this season, although we lacked a cutting edge up front, it was throughly enjoyable to watch.

Fly out to Spain tomorrow, absolutely gutted to be missing out on our 1-1 draw with Queens Park at Hampden but shall be back for the play offs!

BBC pundits saying D united just not up for it,hard to play your best when you can't get a kick of the ball,a goal or two would have been the icing on the cake,A lot of our moves certainly merited at least a couple of goals ,Can't remember when we played passing football like that last night ,

Don't really disagree with the general point, particularly the first part which is spot on. However I would say that while his goals against is much higher than Rae's, as a team our goals for has also been much higher when he has played. When Rae was playing we averaged 1.03 goals a game in the league, with Hemfrey playing we average 2.28 goals. Obviously my point isn't that Hemfrey is Kevin de Bruyne setting up goals, but rather our style of play has changed a bit since he has come in which has resulted in more end to end games. Was trying to think why and initially thought it was because we've had to due to losing more goals, but in most games we've still scored first so that doesn't really explain it. I think it's largely because with Rae being decent with his feet we play a much more controlled game when he plays, with Hemfrey it's been more direct which has resulted in us scoring more but also conceding more.

I have no issue with the odd blunder like yesterday, Rae has made numerous ones this season. And the more end to end, direct style has worked for us (until yesterday). But by far the biggest issue is cross balls, he does not command his area enough. I was sympathetic early on when he was new in but he's at the point now where he needs to be more commanding or we are going to keep being vulnerable to crosses and set-pieces into our box.

If he reads comments on here it won't help him ,had a good pen save ,big lad as well, get off that line and pick out the cross balls ,

And still the only one I’d have in our team would be Brian Graham at 36 years old.

I think the rest of your comments are probably pent out of frustration but honestly can’t look past how much of a success this season has been. Right up until the Raith game I was always of the “8th place is the goal” camp but on top of that we’ve won a trophy, beaten Premiership opposition and qualified for a chance at the top league next season.

For what its worth, I do think the play-offs are probably a stretch too far for us (plus I totally can’t be arsed playing with VAR) but definitely worth pocketing the cash and building for next season in what is sure to be a much more open league. I’ve even spent a while on transfermarkt looking through the players in the Championship who are out of contract and getting myself excited: improvements wise I think we probably need a good four or five quality additions across the park to augment the squad.

Aye,prepare for next season, why leave this league it's been a great season, best season I can remember for a long time definitely excelled, think we all know there are some better quality players out there facing us,playing as a team is the quality we have and proved to be a winner in a good few games ,so all credit to team and manager ,same again next season would do nicely,

Well, that was quite a long winded retort.

Callum Gallagher, good player, all round nice guy and deserving of hall of fame recognition.

I've been around much longer than the 22 years on this talking shop, and have witnessed some excellent strikers playing in the diamond and have my own ideas of each ones contribution to the history of the club

Definitely to many when you look back ,Paul jonquin,Brian McEwan,Innes McDonald',,,Billy Wilson ,Willie McGuire ,Roddy McKenzie Davy McWilliams,,could go on all listing players that were my favs,

If he hadn't been so fond of the "wreck the hoose juice" it could have so easily been Wullie McLaren. Such a talented footballer!

When your years advance there are so many too choose from but particular favourites of mine over the years include Jarvie, Goodwin, Big Johnny, McGuire, March, Nipper, Marvin Wilson, Lovering, Allan Russell & Fordyce.

Add Sammy conn and Stevie Cooper and they are certainly  are a few of my favorites,

I think Frizz has steadily been improving over the last few weeks and tonight we got a glimpse of the player that run a mock in L1 last season.  Brilliant performance from him and the rest of the team deserve a huge congrats on another brilliant result.  It doesn’t end there and the next couple of weeks could see us jump in to third.  Thistle well and truly looking over their shoulder now.

is it just me or does anyone really give a shit about the opposition, home or away, over the next 3 weeks?  This team are capable of beating ANYONE and probably will.

well done Rhys and the lads!!♦️♦️

Great result, what a effort the team put in we were all over them first half, you  could not have dreamed that substitution of McGregor any better ,,happy happy man tonight ,

It's testament to how well he's done but I cant think of one call on here to sack the manager this season. Thinking about the teams that have replaced their manager this season (Arbroath, Ayr, QP, Inverness) you have to wonder how much difference it's made. Ayr and QP probably marginally better but Arbroath and Inverness probably where they would have been if they hadn't changed manager.

Aye,think keeping most of the team together has been a big plus .

I think we’ll probably see Gallagher and McGill away this summer. Telfer might fancy his chances at a bigger club again after a good season. Rumours always persist about Frizzell being wanted elsewhere. I wouldn’t be clamouring to keep a hold of any of the loanees, other than Megwa if at all possible.

I reckon the back five will probably stay reasonably intact: Fordyce won’t be going anywhere, Ballantyne and Rae I think will stick around after their injuries, Watson apparently has a deal until end of next season and I really do hope Hancock stays too as he has been crucial.

If we get the right result tonight and over the next week or two we may very well be in a position of knowing where we stand and so be able to plan for the next season. I might even be in the camp that I wouldn’t want to be in promotion play-offs (as lovely & positive as it would be) so we could get our house in order early recruitment wise, rather than having to hold off for a few weeks after the season ends not knowing what league we’ll actually be in.

All the best to team tonight, hope it's in our hands after tonight's result,♦️♦️

Yeah I reckon Aiken will be back next season. He seemed very well suited to the team earlier in the season and as you say, certainly won’t be going back to Hibs to be part of the first team squad, so another loan spell makes a lot of sense. Of the Hibs loanees I think Megwa will be back in their first team squad, Aiken will stay for another season here and O’Connor will end up at a team like Stirling Albion.

Did you watch Megwa last Friday,no ready for step up any time soon, imo ,
