Got to say, I'm not sure you can claim we played well that night - although perhaps I am being unfair. Two lucky goals and a Samson penalty shoot-out masterclass is my recollection.

Perhaps you are right, and we've had decent performances since the mid 2000s but we've certainly not had enough of them.

Not too many people would describe Kenny McLeans goal that night as "lucky" . As for the result , we totally deserved to go through and should have won it in 90mins.

You certainly won a watch with that one. I take it you will also get 33% of any add ons that are included in the deal?

Yeah it was a good deal for us , but only one that we deserved.  John McGinn was with us from when he was a kid. If you think about all that investment of time , coaching etc , I think we got a decent return on a good player.

As for the future add-ons,  I'm pretty sure it's 33% of those also.

It can't be cheap running our academy,  so this kind of return will go a long way.

If Josh Windass was half the player Josh Windass reckons he is.

Average player who we have done exceptionally well to sell for more or less the same amount as wonderkid McGinn and we don’t have to give St Mirren 30% of the transfer fee

Would have liked to have kept Declan John but he knew we wasn’t going to be even 2nd choice so has left instead of hanging around stealing a wage.

Got to be exceptionally pleased with our dealings in the transfer market. Hopefully 1 or 2 top quality signings still to come in on loan from England

    33% , get it right.

Absolutely. It’s been a fucking brilliant deal for all involved. It genuinely couldn’t have worked out any better.

Even if John had left on a free he’s repaid us in a Cup, promotion and consistent brilliant performances. The fee is extra at this point.

I can’t remember the last time a player left on such good terms. Couldn’t be happier for him.

In all seriousness, us St Mirren fans know only too well what it feels like to lose your star man. In recent seasons we've had a steady stream of our "star men" leave our club. McLean, McGinn, McAllister, Mallan, Morgan have left us when they were at the top of their game.

At least now after today's events we look like we'll be properly compensated due to Hibs perseverance in holding firm.

Sad in a sense that arguably Hibs best player in my lifetime is about to leave and I am not sure if Hibs have replacements lined up or not.

But happy that CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB got fucked in the arse. One of the most pleasing things I have seen.

I know where you're coming from. We were also sad to see one of our best prospects for many a year leave for next to nothing when he joined you lot.

Good to see it now looks like we'll be properly compensated for all those years of coaching and investment

They seem 50/50 on who to blame, seems evenly split between Celtic hating Petrie and Peter Liewell which is amusing cause they seemed 50/50 on signing him until now, not Celtic class etc.. funny in two years time when he's sold for 20 odd million.

Can't wait till Celtic sign him for 12m in 18 months and Hibs get more than Celtic offered via a sell on fee.

We'll be due 33% of that.

Well that's what he was threatening no?

Fwiw I have zero problem with St Mirren getting a hefty sell on. But I'd wait to see what you actually get before you start working out who you'd spend it on. Petrie specifically stated that the sell on was nowhere near 33%. I would be unsurprised if McGinn was getting a share of the fee for example and that was coming out of either the overall fee or the "33%" rather than Hibs portion. Same with the VAT to be paid. Any of these things will reduce the amount St Mirren will get from a headline 33% on the fee.
