  1. Flame sense electrode had broken off and was charred and replaced the ignition electrodes as they were overheating which was causing the internal casing foam to melt and thus the smell. Lose electrical connection to one of the ignition electrodes too so changed the wiring harness for that too.
  2. I went on Zen Archer suggestion that removing casing is fine within gas safe regs. Boiler switched off and calling engineer in the morning.
  3. I removed the boiler casing and there is black scorch marks around the inside. I noticed a bit of that casing insulation has melted and it looks like 2 red wires (checked the manual and it says these are ignition electrode and flame sense electrode) that go into the top of the heat exchanger seem to be fouling against the inside of the casing because their plastic sheaf is protruding out too much which I guess might be causing the smell. These wires felt quite hot to touch would that be normal? Any ideas on the way forward?
  4. Have some problems with my boiler that cant seem to get fixed. It's a worcester bosch greenstar cdi 30 combi and it's about 5/6 year old I think. So basically the boiler has been making like a burning/hot metal smell. But it seems to only make the smell when the boiler has been like working hard when it cuts in the morning and in the evening when the thermostat gets it to cut in, it takes it's time for the smell to come about, it doesnt just happen as soon as the boiler fires up. The heating and hot water has been working fine and I have a CO alarm at the boiler and that's never went off either Had someone out to look at it and he done the flue gas check and that all looked ok but when he came the boiler hadn't been running long so the smell hadnt built up yet and he said everything seemed fine to him. Any help greatly appreciated
  5. Lets mooooooove on from these awful puns Bairney Many Thanks, Kind Regards, BairneyStinson
  6. I am new to this so I could be, although my first post came during the QoS game precisely about time he was losing his man. But now I know the rules not to pass an opinion on new players or else you must be the man himself
  7. I was really disappointed to see Blair dropped yesterday, thought he has played really well since he has come into the team except for losing his man at the corner for QoS goal, and although I may stand corrected hadn't lost in that time although I am in no way saying that is purely down to him. Totally different player and by far a cut above in class footballer to guys like Taiwo. But it seems at this level and those within our support seem to love guys that will apparently 'add dig' 'put it about' 'go through someone''cover every blade of grass' as opposed to a guy that will keep hold of the ball which when we were overran yesterday, someone with an ability to not panic and hold possession and take it off our useless defenders who cannot pass was what was needed.
  8. If defenders only had to win headers from the other teams goal kicks then Grant would be playing for Real Madrid, however as a footballer its quite important to be able to actually kick the ball in a vague direction of where you are aiming for....and unfortunately Grant can not do that in the slighest. A bit like George Burley said about Broadfoot a years ago, limited ability and that is never going to change, but a real trier and probably just about okish at our level.
