  1. Feyenoord also drew their second game, their derby away against Sparta, they were 2-0 down but ultimately equalised in stoppage time. PSV & AZ won 3-1 away at Vitesse & RKC respectively, they are together with FC Twente (3-1 at home against Zwolle) & Heerenveen (2-0 away at Utrecht) the 4 remaining teams on 100%. Two of the promoted teams (Almere & PEC Zwolle) are still on 0, but Heracles picked up their first points of the season at home against NEC.
  2. The seethe about Spain's timewasting/shithousery is something else. England did it worse in their European championship final against Germany. I was at that game (bought tickets & booked a trip well in advance in the hope the Dutch would make it but thinking a final as a neutral is always good). And for that matter, I didn't once blame England for it because had The Netherlands reached the final I'd have wanted the same if we were winning.
  3. In fairness, both stoppages were quite lengthy. Also at some point there was a Spanish player down who needed some treatment. I'm not really surprised with 13 minutes.
  4. Excelsior 2-2 Ajax, I believe only the third time in history we got any points off Ajax, brilliant!
  5. Broughty dropped points for the first time this season with St. James beating them 4-3 in what was clearly the shock of the day. Downfield & Lochee United both had surprisingly convincing wins. Arbroath Vics recovered from what was a very poor set of results for them. As a result, Lochee United have taken over the top position from Broughty as the only remaining unbeaten side in the league.
  6. Kirriemuir Thistle 1-5 Lochee United Another excellent performance. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, Kirrie were tough to beat last season but their results so far suggested they aren't as strong now. Some clinical finishing from our side got us a 3-0 lead at half time. Some key players like Bobby Linn were taken off to give them some rest and the second half was less attractive with the game basically already wrapped off. We scored a fourth, they scored a screamer to get on the scoresheet and we scored another one late on. Again a great team performance with it being difficult to single one single player out for MoM.
  7. I enjoyed my trip there last season (other than the last 60 minutes of the actual game)!
  8. The one thing that let you guys down this episode is the heavy arguing against Linlithgow's red cards. Both were stonewallers. And then the old myth that "denying a goal scoring opportunity" is somehow new and replaced the "last man rule". There literally has never been a "last man rule", it's always been denying a goal scoring opportunity and those fouls have always been reds according to the laws of the game.
  9. German media is reporting that Saudi Arabia have asked UEFA to have teams from their league being allowed into the UEFA Champions League...
  10. I loved my visit to Cumbernauld United when I went there in the 2nd half of last season. As you say, very friendly people there. Lovely ground/surrounding, nice bar, definitely worth a visit.
  11. A surprisingly big win for Lochee United at Scone sees them staying on Broughty's heels, who won again. North End, Tayport and East Craigie all drew and lost some ground, meaning for the first time this season a real top 3 has formed. Carnoustie are definitely on the way back after losing their first 2 games.
  12. He definitely has. It probably sounds strange coming from someone who has just seen his team win 0-7 there while we lost there last season, but they are much better now. Tonight was one of those nights that everything worked out for us, by far our best performance of the season (while last season's defeat was the exact opposite). Obviously I'm delighted with what I saw from us and definitely won't complain, but Scone are much stronger than that scoreline suggests and they will pick up a decent amount of points from the "lesser" teams in the division.
  13. Scone Thistle 0-7 Lochee United Due to being busy at work I was slightly late for kick-off. I was just on time to see the first goal though. The performance was probably the best I've seen all season so far. It was 2-0 at half time and could have been more. The second half was even better and we scored another 5 goals. Kerr Hay scored another hattrick, but the Man of the Match for me was Bobby Linn with 2 goals, 2 assists and playing an important part in the build up to the other goals.
  14. Many of these Putin admirers tick many/all of the "conspiracy nutter" boxes. I remember having a "debate" on the war with one of those on Twitter. I checked his profile and he ticked all these boxes: Believes all pro-Putin/Russia propaganda, even the craziest stuff the Russians themselves wouldn't even put out Anti-vax (not just Covid, just antivax in general) Covid denier Climate change denier Believes Trump won the 2020 election Believes the WEF wants to abolish all countries and form one single world government Believes "15 minute cities" are a conspiracy to lock people in their area forever And a few more I can't immediately think of. About the only thing I didn't see him tweet about (by checking his account for only a few minutes!!) was "flat earth", but I wouldn't be surprised if he was a flat earther too.
  15. This whole war proves the "horseshoe theory" once again. It's the far-left and far-right that are parroting Putin's propaganda.
  16. What I mean is that they can be blamed for not making alternative arrangements. That their park wouldn't be available that date was known well enough in advance.
  17. In this case, I don't think Fort can be blamed for the ground being unavailable. They can be blamed of still having no plan in place less 3 weeks before the tie being played.
  18. Changed? It has never changed, it has always been denying a goal scoring opportunity. The "last man" rule never existed.
  19. They were playing in their own league outside of the pyramid as including them in the pyramid would have been against UEFA's rules as UEFA see Crimea (rightfully) as coming under they Ukrainian FA and they obviously didn't give permission for these teams to move across. With Russia suspended by UEFA now there isn't anyone stopping Russia including them in their pyramid...
  20. The eredivisie has started again. Last week PSV won the first trophy of the season by beating defending champions Feyenoord away in the Super Cup. Almere City, Heracles Almelo & PEC Zwolle got promoted to the eredivisie, replacing FC Groningen, Cambuur Leeuwarden and FC Emmen. Almere are debutants in the eredivisie, while the 2 other promoted after an absence of just 1 season. Ajax started with a 4-1 win against Heracles, PSV beat FC Utrecht 2-0, AZ beat Go Ahead 5-1. The only one of the big sides who dropped points were Feyenoord, who drew 0-0 against Fortuna after going down to 10 inside the opening 30 minutes. The sending off was very harsh in my opinion. The other promoted sides also lost: PEC Zwolle 1-2 Sparta & Almere City 1-4 FC Twente. My team Excelsior had a spectacular win, 3-4 away against NEC Nijmegen. We got 3 new Swedish players who made their debuts and they all scored, including the winner in 90+10 with literally the last kick of the game. NEC also had 3 scoring debutants, so 6 in total. Must be some kind of record!
  21. In pretty much every country it also applies to grassroots football. Newly signed players who weren't eligible for the original date of the game won't be eligible for the resumption either and both teams have to stick to the original selection when possible.
  22. They played Regionalliga last season, but they withdrew at the end of the season as they couldn't fulfil stadium requirements. Their B-team became their new first team, who are in the 11th tier, so effectively a relegation of 7 tiers.
  23. Good old shit translations from Google. He is a good friend of mine, all those games in the Forth & Endrick League (bar one) I did with him. So I'm not the only mad Dutchman living in Scotland who is obsessed with low level football over here.
  24. That's the one thing of football here that I'll never understand, that abandoned games aren't finished on a later date but always replayed in full. The "home nations" are an oddity in that in world football, nearly everywhere else they just finish the game at a later date, which makes sense imo. But more important: I hope the injury won't be too bad and the guy will have a speedy recovery.
