  1. FFS guys chill. You are not going to be ripped off by Hibs. Unless St Mirren's lawyer is an 8 year old child with special needs, he/she will have this scenario covered. The real potential rip-off here is that Celtic, having pocketed £7m for a merely decent Armstrong and are now reportedly offering - presumably with a straight face - £1.5m for a game changer like McGinn. If you don't get as big a top-up as you had hoped, it will be because Celtic have managed to strong-arm their reserve team into accepting sweeties for one of Scotland's best.
  2. Is that a photo of Levein tackling Kidd - aka Bobby Ball ? If so, as every Hibby will tell you, it can't be that game.
  3. A yahoo ? Is that what supporters of Ayr, Ayr Super-Ayr get called ?
  4. Whoever we play in goals, they'll be just fine. We never have disaster-goalies (copyright Hibernian). We'll be sound in defence. We have about 19 central midfielders to chose from, so should be strong there. Up top - let's see. But lack of pace and guile out wide an issue unless Amankwaa or Mulraney come good .
  5. Even more impressive. Maybe some coaches came up from Ayr to support their Ayrshire neighbours .
  6. Whatever he is costing, it will be money well spent if he can make a proper job of "marking" Scott Brown
  7. Establishment club, mate. Money coming out of our ears. Lat's hope Craig can spend it wisely.
  8. Guess he was maybe an option B if we couldn't secure Naismith's return. We'll not be signing him now.
  9. Sunderland "a shitey team" ? That's a bit rough, Seniorsoup. They are still a big club, What have they done to upset you ? (I suppose they did sell McCoist to Rangers ) McGeough did after all join Hibs when they had just been relegated so maybe, after having to fight for a place at Celtic, he likes to go where pressure and expectations are not too high ? Anyway, as a Jambo, I have to say that if you ask me which of McGinn/Allan/McGeough causes the most concern, it's in that order. McGinn always causes chaos, Allan can sometimes slice you open, McGeouch plays pretty triangles but in places too deep to cause bother. If Hibs can keep hold of the other two they will have done very well.
  10. Spectacular crowds at Killie and Kirkcaldy with 1/3 and 1/5 of the towns' populations turning out. There really wasn't much else, apart from the pictures or the boozer, to do in those days. Interesting that a Hibs team in the middle of winning 3 league titles still only got a crowd 2/3 of Hearts. Always the wee team.
  11. Was there a broadcasting rights restriction that got in the way of televising the whole of Celtic’s more important European Cup game, as opposed to Rangers’ Cup Winners Cup game ? Or did STV have first choice and it just reflected their management’s preference or their perception of the bigger potential audience ?
  12. F me. So not only has somebody dredged up a photo of the last day league-decider loss to Killie, but also a last day promotion decider loss to 'Well ! Cheers guys. Give me a shout after the obligatory last day Dens Park league loss pics and the New Years day 73 pics have had an airing.
  13. I remember for a few years after that, kids playing football all called blootering the ball wildly over the bar as "doing a Dixie Deans" Must have been an unbeleivable time to be a Celtic supporter though - not only winning the European Cup but getting to a final and a semi a few years later.
  14. ---kofff. I suppose you were runners up 3 of the previous 4 seasons - so you were kind of due the big prize.
  15. You jest, Dominique. But are you sure Celtic/Hibs/St Mirren are actually registered at the SFA as 3 different clubs anyway ? It might be that you can interchange players with no paperwork at all. ( Unless it's Jorge Cadette, of course )
  16. I wouldn't bother with Shaw. Too often close, but no cigar. Same problem as Sparky had at Hibs. Get yourself a striker that can get the ball properly over the line.
  17. All this stuff about St Mirren getting diddled out of their sell-on cut will just be internet pish. St Mirren will have been reperesented by lawyers in the sale and it will cover what is , after all, not an unheard of situation, by either referring to the "consideration" for Morgan ( which is not just cash ) or having an arbitration clause that works out what a swap player is worth. For good measure there will be something about acting in good faith. And the SFA have a role in overseeing these contracts/sales ? While it is tempting to have a pop at Celtic, I can't imagine they would want to trash their reputation for straight-dealing by conniving with Hibs just to diddle St Mirren out of a few hundred thousand - which is absolute chicken feed to Celtic. If McGinn goes to Celtic, St Mirren will get their cut. And, should add, I can't see Hibs getting involved in any such nonsense.
  18. That’s true. But you could compare Duncan the tap dancer to Duncan the football player. The tap dancer had a better final ball.
  19. You are absolutely right about Hibs teaching Brazil everything they know. There are regular Friday night fights in bars in Rio over whether Rivelino or Arthur Duncan was better.
  20. tbh, after that goal, he kept having a go from any distance, but only managed to score long-range again once. But he can walk into any bar in Edinburgh - well, maybe not The Persevere - and he'll never have to buy a lemonade again.
  21. No argument on the first point. Since Fergus McCann, easliy the best run club in the country. The second point though - self-delusion. Fact are chiels that winna ding
  22. Acchh, it would be a bit boring if we all just stuck to our own team's board. And he's got a point. The squad is so stuffed full of punts, I can see the likes of MacDonald stalling.
  23. Brilliant. Very sharp. Laughing man thingy But seriously, you are bound to have a special relationship with them because, as I did point out to you, Hibernian modelled themselves on Celtic when they started up in 1893. Okay - I'm going.
  24. Can't say I'm too convinced with Levein's signing "strategy" so far. But, on the plus side, how's the squad looking out at the East Lothian farm ? Heard a rumour that not too much is happening while Lennon mulls over a job offer at the Celtic club shop.
  25. The only thing I can think of that is worse than buying based on stats alone, would be buying unseen AND not on the stats ! e.g. just based on a tip from somebody that you once played with 30 years ago and a 5 minute youtube compilation of their best bits. I'd be surprised if HMFC staff have been flying all round the world looking at players these last few years.
