Might be reading it wrong but apart from 2-3 guys in our youth team, I don't think there much else ready to challenge the first team. There's no ''crop'' on youngsters yet. The youthful approach will be achieved through signing guys 21/22 released from bigger clubs or guys the same age making a name for themselves at smaller clubs. I would imagine they will be signed on 2 year deals too if they are seen as investments for the future, so anybody wanting to nab them will have to pay. Sounds like a sustainable way to run a club if it works, but could easily end up in relegation too if we get the recruitment wrong.

Depends which way you want to look at it. I see it as the club at least having a vision of the type of people we want to employ in future. No more Muirhead types and scatter gun approach to recruitment. They are cutting their losses before it starts to become unmanageable. Makes perfect sense. There are folk who will say enough is enough and will not pay 20 quid entry. There are folk who will not buy a season ticket. So be it. We can't keep pissing money on journeymen who don't care and spending money to keep floating fans happy. If it means a few hundred fans cut loose then that's their choice. The club needs to find a sustainable platform. Over spending to keep a few disgruntled fans happy is false economy. Most people understand our position and the stance the board are taking.

I think expectations of promotion and play-off places may need to be stripped back. Staying in this league and hovering around mid-table might be more realistic. Going with young players and building a team will take a lot of time. Never know. We might strike lucky with a few gems and everything falls into place like Livi and Ayr over the last few years.

Seen quite a few comments from Pars fans saying we should sign Declan McDaid. Apart from his goal a few weeks back against us, which was more down to crap Williamson defending and poor goalkeeping, I have seen no reason for this desire to sign him. Looking at Ayr fans comments from last night, they seem to think the same. Some of them saying get rid.

Somebody on the United forum saying that he's going to Cove. Apparently his injuries have caught up with him and full time football is a struggle for him.

Stevie was on the same train as me coming back from Edinburgh last year. This was before he got the job, but he said he had been down in Scarborough( I know they went bust, but must be another team close by) looking at a player. Apparrently the player had decided to move else where by the time he got down there. Does appear that we have been exploring that market though.

Sounds to me that Stevie knows he's safe. My biggest concern with this, is the style of play. I know he's spoken about changing things but I'm not convinced there will be a big change. He seems to spend a lot of his analysis talking about defending from the front and being compact, players buying into his game plan. At no point has he hinted at playing expansive football. Only ever mentioned bringing in players to suit what he's trying to do. Bruce Anderson has been let down by him. The guy would score goals for fun in this league with a more attack minded team. He has chased shaddows under Crawford. No support due to parking the bus. If he's here next year and he's boring the tits off me still by October/Novemeber time and bang average results to match, then I would want to see action. Not a great situation to be going into in a new season. He needs a good start or it will turn bitter very quickly.

We parked the bus for half a season to protect the garbage defence. The goals against column is despite guys like Devine, Ashcroft and Durnan. It's quite clear to see how shite Devine is. Stecky plodder.

He is on a two year deal. His injury record has been poor but If he has a good pre-season and stays fit he can be a good box to box midfielder. He shown this in the second half of last season.

Blair can do one. His performance against Falkirk was a disgrace. Never seen somebody pull out of so many challenges. Really have doubts about that performance. I also think Durnan is better than Devine. He had a run of 3-4 games with Ashcroft in a back four around September time and did well.

Having had time to digest and sleep over my end of season thoughts, I've come to the conclusion that we need to change manager. Craw will change the staff but the anti-football mindset will never change. He talks a lot about the players ''buying'' into their vision. I personally think this is his style, just the wrong players for him. Get rid now or EEP will be deserted next season. I want Petrie in.
