  1. But the players are not fed before the game. They sort themselves out prior to the match.
  2. I understand and a great job they do. But they are with the club to hopefully become footballers. Not turnstile operators. A chance for any of these lads to get a place on the bench is priceless..... Especially when there are 3 spaces not being filled. I just think an opportunity has been missed.
  3. I agree. why there could not have been another couple of youth players on the bench annoys me. As you say, just to see how the players and management go about a match day would all add to these players learning. Also to see how the away team go about things. Especially against a top of the table side.
  4. It wasn’t difficult to defend. In fact it was very straight forward. Just get close to your man. Basic stuff. that said. Apart from that the defence played well.
  5. Horrible goal to concede Kilday doesn’t get within 10 ft Of his man and ultimate scorer. No idea why. Plus no defender on the post. Makes it more annoying when the defence had played so well.
  6. There is also the thought that throwing a young lad in in that situation is too much. if he came on and Ayr had pulled two goals back, then Goulays confidence would have been rock bottom and hard to get back. i admit I don’t know how old he is but I am sure he has plenty of time on his side. From seeing him for the reserves he has a future at the club.
  7. Brownlie was missed as he has had an excellent season. Fortunately his replacement had a decent game. Also let’s not get hung up that a 6ft 1inch left back who has played hundreds of first team games ( Holt ) can’t cover 20 minutes as a left CB. To be fair if Osman had not got all handy in the box then the defence over the full 90 minutes had a good game without Brownlie. That said, I would expect him to start if fit on Saturday. there is a slight difference between a pre contract and loan players. Pre Contract players have already signed their new deal. It is done. There is nothing to prove. They are waiting to move and know what is ahead of them. Loan players are trying to prove to their parent club they are either good enough to play at a higher level or indeed get a new contract from their club. They are not sure what the future holds and are trying to shine. Or they should be. Either way the Pre Contract deals leave players wide open for criticism if they have a bad game or are injured. ( he’s not bothered, he just doesn’t fancy the game today ) kind of thing.
  8. He played against Arbroath (and got MOTM) after signing his contract. Fair point pal. None the less, it must have an effect once you know you are off. God forbid he doesn’t score the goal to send Partick into the seaside league. Far fetched but you get my point.
  9. What a horrible coincidence Brownlie is out injured the very first game after his pre contract is signed. Don’t like these agreements as quite clearly the player will not want to get injured for his new employer and obvious Summer wage increase has the players head turned.
  10. Dykes, Marshall, Todd, Doyle managed to get us second bottom of the league last season. With your thinking, we were well rid of them I assume.
  11. If you,re correct I expect Semple will be playing for the reserves on Monday if he is not injured.
  12. Did he balls. His first touch was awful, he looked shocked any time the ball came near him and his best chance he murdered over the bar. When I saw Paton getting stripped I said it'd be for McCarthy. When you are comfortably the worst performer in among that shite then you can have no complaints getting hooked. Shame he couldn't show the same passion on the pitch that he did thumping the door. Any player subbed 30 minutes into game has every right to be pissed off. Whether playing bad or not. Thats why the majority of managers tend not to do it. Any manager, especially an ex player knows full well subbing a player after 30 minutes is far more embarrassing to The player than the player having a bad game.
  13. When you sub a player after 30 mins he isn’t going to be happy. Hence McCarthy being a bit pissed off. Especially when there was worse out there. Semple has been carrying an injury for two weeks. Hence surprising he was even on the bench last week and not used at all today. I am wary of the “ all is not well behind the scenes brigade” Would rather hear some facts to back it up.
  14. Of course it’s connected to the first team players Queens had out. Worth seriously looking at the Kilmarnock team. Far more experienced than our side. Jackson alone has nearly 500 appearances. Semple, Murray and McCarthy are certainly not what I would call experienced.
  15. It is certainly a pleasant change to the last 2 years that instead of the defence being shite it is now a debate about the midfield being shite.
  16. I agree. Dundee and Ayr were both there for the taking, but we are very much in and about it. That is a really decent result.
  17. I'm doing my best to give the players time before I judge them but I've seen nothing from Hamilton that gives me anywhere near that kind of optimism. He seems to get his timings for headers so wrong that it's infuriated me at times. Given he was on the bench a lot for a poor Alloa side last season, I'm not expecting him to become anything more than mediocre. Though tbf to him, like Dobbie, there isn't a competent midfield behind him so he's probably fighting a losing battle. It’s very difficult to make a decent argument for A few but Hamilton is young with a lot to learn. I would like to see him in a front two with Dobbie playing off him. He certainly should not be out on the wing.
