  1. Yes, I am here.
I'm not sure that I want to "name names" with regard to who has been contacted about this matter. I'm a sort of "semi-agent" having been asked to find things out and keep my mate apprised. Likewise, he has been telling me how things are going (on the surface, I suspect).
The response he received - and I know not from who - and which I posted here last was to a request for an Easter meeting. Whether the suggestion that he should move before then is bluff neither of us know. He contacted me with this information yesterday to find out if I knew anything about it.
    I'll keep you updated.
Damn - two hours and thirty-seven minutes still to go.  (And Neil Rankine EATS breakfast so I'm unlikely to be with him.)

Are you able to reveal if it is one of the following:

    Man or woman?
    Local businessperson (current)?
    Local businessperson (retired)?
    Local railway person?
    Local whisky person?
    Or a Fifer?

  2. I see your point but if we never see Rory Loy in a Sons jersey again then that's a big issue.

He's on a two year deal so if he's not going to play, he's going to be spend 18 months of a 24 month contract not playing but being paid handsomely for it. That's not good.

I still hope we can see some good from him at some stage. Who knows when that'll be though, or if. Does anyone know the extent of his injury or what physio or rehab he's going through to try and fix the issue?

I for one feel sorry for the guy. Iv met him once or twice after the game and he’s pretty gutted about the way things have turned out. I don’t know all the ins and outs but know that it’s a severe back injury which he has already had treatment for which hasn’t had the desired effect - apparently investigating other potential (personally costly) solutions.

I think if he was quite happy just sitting taking the money, he wouldn’t be doing all he can to get fit.

I think think we will know for certain by spring whether he will kick a ball for us again.
  3. My Dad's sitting in the RAH after getting a new hip on Friday.
He's had a rough weekend with pain an nausea, but is now feeling much more chipper after Graeme Sinclair was admitted to the same room as him this morning.
    For younger Sons:

Sinclair went from Sons to Sellic for about £65k.
Dunno how chipper Sinclair will be after a couple of days of my dad's patter.

Hope faither’s on the mend - sending best wishes!

  4. I suppose it’s not as simple as that because it might be that he can still comfortably work through it but just can’t play football with it.

I know we have a whole load to thank C&G for given their generous funding in the summer but I’m really not sure if the work they give our players has been suitable or helpful when it comes to actually playing football. When you hear of people doing night shifts on a Friday you think it’s no wonder that we’ve been dry flat and lacking in energy in many games.

They don’t work Friday nights. And the work that they do on the railway does not involve ‘backwork’
  5. Dom Thomas is far too good for us. I think it’s clear to see that he’s the best player in the league.

I’d basically given up on us keeping him beyond January but now I know that I’m slightly more optimistic as I doubt he’d walk into the Kilmarnock team.

Iv heard his brother works for C&G, I wonder if he might be on the tracks come January.

  6. And durrant allegedly saying f*** the p***

I know the one you’re taking about, the video is still on the ‘Rangers on Tour’ Facebook page anyway for all to see.

Not making any excuses, but why fans would video a private function like this and then post online is beyond me.

  7. Duffy has been pretty much whoring himself for the Thistle job;  it's clear that an approach to him would fail at this stage. I have no idea if Duffy is someone who interests the board.
In any case, the board have (in my view correctly) invited applications to see who is interested. It would be a pretty strange way to go about things to invite applications and then go after a target. I'd expect applications, shortlist,  interviews and then an appointment. That would be unless there was a single outstanding candidate, negating the shortlist.

I think it would be prudent to target certain candidates in tandem with the application process. There will be some managers that may not apply until they have had a discussion in order to understand the lay of the land and what they are getting in to. There are lots of reasons that could make the Dumbarton job more attractive than the Thistle job, not least that the likes of Duffy could continue his media commitments alongside the manager role. I think a 2 pronged approach will give a more successful outcome, and will speed up the process as we can rule out certain targets early doors and move on.
  8. Considering he'd drag his bollocks over a cheese grater to trot out any excuse available, I'd be surprised if he was deliberately choosing not to mention "8 fit players".
I always had my doubts about having "8 fit players".

Is there something awry with our training methods? I mean players are becoming injured at the drop of a hat, and the injuries are not all coming from games.

I’m not convinced that the training is effective, I think we’re spending too much time running about, and not enough time on formations and tactics. IMO, whatever training we are doing, looks as though it’s damaging the players.

For part time club’s, it’s the players’ responsibility to maintain fitness during the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays should be spent focussing on tactics and getting things right positionally.
  9. Perhaps the club have set aside a fund to cover the cost of sacking Aitken? He has been performing very poorly for some time now.

If we've left ourselves in a position where we are literally stuck with a underperfomimg manager then surely questions have to be asked of the board? Especially when John Steele told fans before a recent match that Aitken has 4 or 5 matches to get things right.

In any other walk of life, job security is linked to performance targets, is this not the case in football?

If I was guff at my job, I wouldn’t expect to be taken in by my manager and paid a years’ salary to leave.

Is it possible to set football managers targets at the start of the year and at least they can be measured transparently on these. Then, if they were underperforming they would be shown the door like any other person in their day job. Or is this just fantasy too?
