  1. I genuinely reckon Hughes thinks he's better than managing Falkirk in the third division and I think he's right. Those thinking Rice would also come as his assistant are living in the past and deluded. Or if it''s the 2 of them as co-managers that won't happen either, both having been their own man for many years now. The reason we have shit players and an unproven manager is mainly down to Holt and the BOD, but also relative to our new found status as Div 3 stalwarts. Give ém hell next week.
  2. I'm the opposite , I go into a mini football shutdown during the international break as I hate it. The current set up is dreadful , too many games and too many breaks - the season only got going a few weeks in September and went into a break, now here we are again.. I only watch the tournaments now as at least there is excitement , I mean who on earth wants to watch England v Andorra - what is the actual point of that game.
  3. Out of interest what was Spock's first name? Was it Brian?
  4. And the ability to persuade target players to join your club. It's all in depth presentations these days , slick & professional. Even more important if you are languishing in a lower league. Wonder what ours is like. Or you could just chuck 2 and 3 years contracts around like confetti.
  5. Deans is a populist.....like Boris Johnson. All over it when there's good news, hides during the bad news and says what he thinks folks want to hear when we've been wronged.
  6. I'm still trying to get my head around how it got to Cove Rangers & Queens Park being our new rivals. Now folks are running scared of Hearts , not the big one the one from Kelty. Jesus wept, how did we get so low.
  7. While I agree that it's much too early to make judgements & dismiss Sheerin, the Jeffries comparison must come with a caveat. Jeffries had brought in some real quality players who had yet to click, where we are now with the current playing staff is not even in the same stratosphere. We can only hope they also click to be good enough to get us out of this league this season, although the amount of 2 year contracts are a worry.
  8. The "ridiculous money ball regime" was part of Craig Campbell's Project Premiership, as was closing the academy. Hartley was just the poor sod in the manager's chair at the time who had to deal with it. Still, at least it was all worth it.
  9. I watched the match for the first time in a while and thought, Nesbitt apart, Alloa were better than us in every position. Not just for work rate but also ability it seemed, which shocked me a bit. And their team included Conor Sammon FFS! Hopefully just a very bad day at the office.
  10. You're right, they cannot insist he plays but can recall him if not getting enough game time assuming there is a clause in the agreement. Recent example being Arsenal recalling Eddie Nketiah from Leeds early for that very reason
  11. Is the Arbroath cancellation now Falkirk's Grassy Knoll ?
  12. John Stewart , what a horrific signing. Oh and on top of that it seemed somewhat economical with the truth. My car broke down, I left my phone at home and the dog ate my homework..... https://www.express.co.uk/sport/othersport/13024/Stewart-I-didn-t-choose-to-miss-tribute
  13. Well this is heartwarming to see. The road back from Craig Campbell's demolition of our club is cautiously but firmly on it's way. A lot of positives starting to raise their heads at the club.
  14. “Today, without any previous indications, we received a letter of resignation from Brian Rice. “Whilst it has come as a surprise, we now fully understand his reasoning for leaving at this time, and have, with regret, accepted his resignation. “It has been an extremely difficult 18 months dealing with all the issues surrounding the pandemic, including the recent relegation from the Premiership, and there’s no doubt that it has taken its toll on Brian, his staff and everyone connected to the club.” Sounds like sadly Ricey may still have his personal challenges . I wish him all the best , to me a Falkirk Great and part of a team that represented the best of times being a Falkirk fan.
  15. Yes , they have the 2 major domestic cups in their trophy cabinet and drawing away in Europe with the likes of Galatasaray whilst we are now counting Cove Rangers & Queens Park as our main rivals. Remember we used to be St Johnstone's equal & indeed better than them on occasion. The blame for our fall & this chasm of a difference is squarely on the successive BODs & the MSG - most of whom are still around.
  16. Glad to hear this. Although it just emphasizes to me what a ridiculous gamble it was to give M&M the job previously. Hopefully this puts an end to the "Falkirk Blood/identity" nonsense that was used to justify the last appointments, Sheerin & Grainger have zero Falkirk blood but make up for it with talent & passion thankfully.
  17. Nice to see that despite the restrictions players are still allowed to pray to Mecca after the game.
  18. Yes we managed to get rid of all that pesky youth and thankfully just before Christmas so we could embark on this wonderful Campbell & Lang Busted Brentford Model Odyssey. All monies wisely & safely diverted to the 1st team to get us into the Premiership. The rest is history.
  19. I actually saw a lot of Dorrans last season in the A League as one of my mates here is a big WSW fan. To me he looked consistently off the pace and made a lot of late challenges , causing him to get booked just about every match. He looked like he was blowing out his arse towards the end of each game when he wasn't suspended. I'm interested to see how he does in the Scottish Championship as there is no doubt he was once an excellent player. Released early from his contract due to family reasons back home I heard.
  20. Neck & neck with Lizzy's "Live & Dangerous" IMO.
  21. Killed By Death is one of my favorite Motorhead tracks .......and just a great title as well. Seen them many times and proud to hear of the link to FFC. Lemmy statue at TFS anyone?
  22. It's far from ideal we are scrambling around for key signings at this stage but of course they can still happen. What gets me is we all know we have had this DOF since January and the BOD tell us with a straight face he is working 12 hour days - What is he doing, and whatever it is he isn't very good at it (it seems) !
  23. Because they make up it as they go along. Remember the England players Gilmour who came into contact with had to isolate too but not the boys that sat next to him on the bus or had a laugh with him at training.
  24. Firstly great to see fans back in the stadium. I'm never one to slag off players (well maybe Sammon a few times but he deserved it) but that "defensive" header for their second goal that went a few feet straight up in the air was abysmal. I've only got these highlights to go on but Lewis said the game "dramatically changed" just round about the 80th minute which is obviously the penalty and sending off but I'd say from that Accies were much the better team up until then, certainly looked bigger and stronger with more chances - so I don't know what he means. I do worry about our lack of physical strength in League One.
