  1. I assume the boy came recommended or maybe Murray sees the potential in him but this definitely seems like a bit of a gamble. Will he be the new ‘Ally Roy’? He’s a local lad and presume he won’t be breaking the budget. Think we need a been there and done it frontman. Someone who can get goals when provided with good service. Hoping that person will get signed up, with Allan as his back up
  2. How are you guys feeling about your recruitment so far? Fully expecting McCann to be a Falkirk player within the next week or so... could be a key signing for this season. Think Falkirk will give us the biggest challenge next year if you get the right signings in, do you think Sheerin will deliver?
  3. I’m not sure about this signing and although it says Murray is an admirer, I’m wondering how much of an influence Agnew was. I agree that we have to be ambitious and get at least 2-3 players who could easily compete at Championship level. Some standouts in league 1. So far I’m not really seeing it, but many more signings to come so here’s hoping. Like others have said, our recruitment will determine our fate. So far we have a ‘play off’ team. I’d like to see us win the league
  4. I long for the return of the fountain pen... c’mon Airdrie! Hoping Murray can get his targets signed up early doors
  5. Have to say that I’m very happy with Agnew coming to the club and believe that being reunited with Murray will be the spark he needs to show some pre-covid form. Also great news that Murray is here for the upcoming season. I think the next 2-3 weeks will be a crucial time to get the right faces in and start building for next season. Agnews experience could prove to be vital and he’ll surely fit easily in to the new look team. We’re 4-5 QUALITY signings away from a team that can go all the way next year. Hoping Murray gets the full backing of the board over the summer. But a good start, happy that a key signing is in so early
  6. I’m obviously concerned about the injuries from the Cove game and can only hope that the affected players can make a return. Maybe even in the second leg? We’ll know more in the morning.. but honestly, at this stage, we have nothing to lose. 180 mins of solid football away from championship status. The team have it in them to get over the line but I’m expecting another close affair... I’m sure the players will respond to having fans at the games also. Congrats to the lads for making it this far, don’t stop now!!!
  7. That won’t come back to bite you.... Our last 3 games against them has been 2 wins and a draw. Your a brave man
  8. Can see a few changes for Tuesday and a possible 90 mins for Robert... maybe even Sabatini making a surprise appearance. But probably not. I think Murray will want to give some game time to players he may ultimately have to call on during the playoffs, it will be interesting to see his team selection. Falkirk will be desperate to take something and go into the playoffs with some belief. They will need to stop the rot on Tuesday or become cannon fodder for the spoon burners. I’m hoping we pick up all 3 points and who knows, Montrose might get the win they need. Finishing second would be a great result for this season and regardless of the playoff results, I’m hoping Murray get the fans full support for next season

  10. No more opportunity for him to be scouted. Any scout who was watching him for the first time yesterday will have wondered what the f**k the fuss is all about. Any other clubs who have had him watched previously will now be thinking twice and I imagine the biggest factor will be a fear of possibly losing out if he actually turns out to be decent. Yes, it will be interesting to see how this transpires over the next few weeks. You have to think that there won’t be enough that scouts have seen to justify a bid. And yes, Saturdays performance wasn’t convincing from him so unlikely to help with a move. But with the risk of several weeks without football and higher leagues operating, surely his agents will want to see him move along ASAP. This news will have come at the worst possible time for them.
  11. Think this match came a little too early for us. Another couple of games and we may have that cutting edge. Maybe. But there’s a lot of potential in the team and we need to find our feet quickly. But once again we find that the expected contenders are dropping points and this will definitely be tight. Would have bet good money on Falkirk taking 3 points... coupon buster
  12. Let’s call this what it was.. a stonewall penalty. And since Thistle scored thirty seconds after this incident it was a major moment in the game. Yes, 90% of viewers thought it was a penalty in real time and this backs it up. And right in front of the ref... no thistle players disputing the Airdrie claims. Poor refereeing and the final result would definitely have been different. But these breaks happen throughout the season and there’s a long way to go.
  13. Agree. Coverage was good, compliments to Thistle. Slightly biased commentary but to be expected. Big difference on pixellot
  14. Murray livid with ref. Not a great performance from Airdrie but the man in black didn’t help. Should probably have been a draw.
  15. Was thistles goal offside? Looked it but jags commentary said ok. Hmm...

  17. Agree on these points, the timing of the visits by Thistle and Falkirk may play to Airdries advantage. But the fact that the powers at be decided we should play away from home on two occasions to both teams is poor. Yes, the financial implications are clear and it’s not rocket science to know that these teams carry the largest supports in the league. In a shortened season like this, 3 total home games from Falkirk and thistle would be good for every team. But I agree.. this may play to our advantage in the long run and if supporters can’t attend it’s a mute point. Superscoreboard just pointing out that away teams are winning more games since fans have been eliminated!
  18. If this West Ham thing is going to happen, is it likely to be at the start of August? See that some of their players are out of loan at other clubs until the end of July. They seem to have a good set up and hopefully we get some talented prospects coming in. Tough season ahead and I think if we can get the full squad in place prior to pre-season training it will help the team gel for sure. Might be good to get HR in the dressing room for a team talk prior to some key home games, get the lads going
  19. I think Sammy was mainly used as a midfielder for us but sometimes played in the attacking role depending on the set up Doddie wanted. Great player, loved watching him during those years. Prior to joining us he had a long spell at The Rovers and maybe one of their fans could confirm but think he played mainly attacking midfield for them. He could always chip in with a goal but damage mostly done by Coyle, Smith etc. Wasn’t scared to hit one from range and was always up for a header at goal from set pieces. We were successful because of the versatility of players like Conn. Great player, sorry he’s gone, a true servant to the club
  20. I’d have Glass back for sure, he would definitely be a solid addition to the team. He knows the club already.... it’s a good shout
  21. Andy coming back is a HUGE signing, obviously it gives us an advantage with the extra firepower but psychologically it’s great for his teammates and there’s added incentive to go and perform at a higher level. Yes, if he scores at the same rate as his last stint we are serious title contenders. And yes, we have meat and bones of a championship squad as it stands. It’s all out from here, full steam ahead and time to get ruthless in this league. We need 3 points from a majority of our fixtures and we should be facing all the ‘promotion’ teams with confidence, starting with EF on Saturday. Time to signal an intent and deliver with a solid victory. The next 4 months will be the most important in several years and this team definitely have the ability to achieve champion status. Think Andy will fit in with this team nicely. Now, just a creative midfielder to feed the scorers......
